Only "Administrative Decision" on Medjugorje -- Cardinal Puljics Recommendation to the Pope

(Rome) Cardinal Vinko Puljic, Archbishop of Sarajevo and member of the Pontifical Commission of Inquiry, which is mandated to study the phenomenon of Medjugorje, said to have "recommended" to the pope to come to a decision on Medjugorje only on "administrative" aspects, but not on the "phenomena" and messages. [The messages are obviously heretical, if words can mean anything at all.]
The Virgin Mary is alleged to have regularly appeared at a parish of Medjugorje for the past 35 years to six "seers", which is  under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Mostar. Bishop Ratko Peric, like his predecessor Pavao Zanic (to 1993), regarded the Medjugorje phenomenon with great skepticism.  Bishop Zanic declared as competent ecclesiastical authority that the alleged apparitions were "not supernatural" in character ( non constat de supernaturalitate ). This decision was supported and confirmed in 1991 by the Yugoslav Bishops' Conference  and still applies today.
People have "the right to go to Medjugorje to pray and do penance," explained Cardinal Puljic in December for the Turkish state news agency Anadolu Agency (AA). Medjugorje "is one of the largest confessional benches, not only the Balkans, but in all of Europe, and that has to be somehow taken into account when deciding which one will meet".
Cardinal Puljic therefore recommended to the Pope a decision to "solely" address the "administrative aspects", responding in  "no way to the question of appearances." "When it comes to visions and messages, which are still under consideration,  the Church does not move quickly.  The Church does not hurry, but always arrives at a conclusion. I'm not worried about the attitude of the Holy Father or those of the CDF. "
Medjugorje
Concerning  the pilgrims, the Cardinal, that which has already been said  applies: "It is important that the people who go to Medjugorje, pray for the strengthening of their faith and are comforted in returning home."

"Solomonic" or "Educational" solution?

Behind the scenes there has been a tug of war for years in the Vatican   around Medjugorje. The Vatican became increasingly cautious, while some Church officials, including the Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Schönborn, are convinced of the authenticity of the phenomenon. [Not exactly a vote of confidence.] Since the 80s, however, there has been a negative decision on  Medjugorje. Since then, it is argued by proponents that Rome had not yet decided. A decision of Rome, however, not canonically necessary to be  provided. Among the supporters  of Medjugorje, there is the claim that Pope John Paul II. and the then faith Prefect of the CDF, Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger have commented positively about Medjugorje, which has been denied in writing by Cardinal Ratzinger 1998.
In 2009 the CDF confirmed the jurisdiction of the Bosnian bishops and thus the negative decision of 1991.
In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. finally established a Vatican commission of inquiry to examine the phenomenon of Medjugorje and bring about the much-discussed decision in Rome. The signals emanating  from the Commission  were negative in the matter. At the turn of 2012, the final   report  was placed in front of the Pope.
Since then,  a decision has been delayed by some church circles, helped along by the unexpected resignation of Benedict XVI. The Commission of Inquiry had completed its work, yet remained  for another two years in office until 2014.
A postponement is argued for since it is concerned that a negative decision could unsettle many believers and shake in their faith. In fact, those in the know confirm that tension is very high among Medjugorje. The danger of divisions within the Bosnian Franciscans makes the regular rounds.  An argument  from experience- which is not taken lightly in Rome,  confirms the reluctance of Pope Francis. Francis has expressed himself repeatedly against "an addiction to apparitions and messages."
On 6 June 2015, the Pope had himself expressed the view of an early decision on the return flight from Sarajevo.  But nothing has happened since then. At the end of June, Andrea Tornielli, the  papal  household vaticanist said that a decision would wait until "after the summer break", perhaps would even be  given "at the Synod of Bishops".
An "administrative" solution has presented itself after months. A decree lays on the desk of the pope which has been formulated since the spring of 2015. Medjugorje is recognized as a place of prayer, entrusted to the pastoral care of the Franciscan Order, but is subordinated to the jurisdiction and supervision of Rome. There will be no light  construction because it interferes with the rights of the Mostar diocese. Public appearances of the "seers" are also suppressed or completely prevented. As far as  a non-decision on the "apparitions" and "messages"  it is argued that the phenomenon is still ongoing and therefore, to make a final judgment prematurely was indeed impossible.   There is talk in Rome  of a "Solomonic" or "educational" solution.

Pope Invites Evil Dominican Head of "Gay Lobby" to Secret Meeting

(Rome) Bishop José Raúl Vera López, Dominican and Diocesan Bishop of Saltillo in Mexico, is held to be the "bishop of the gay lobby" in the Catholic Church. The Liberation Theology "inspired" chief shepherd has been known in recent years primarily for his vociferous defense of homosexuality. On the day before the opening of the Synod of Bishops in 2015 on the family,  Raul Vera was a "special guest" at a meeting of a "Catholic Gay Network" in Rome. Next February, he will be one of a small circle of selected persons with whom Pope Francis meets during his Mexico visit in secret.

For Aberrosexuals: "You are our savior"

When homo-meeting in Rome Bishop Raul Vera said to aberrosexuals: "You are our savior." He continued: "Who are small but well-organized, to defeat the monsters, and you are well organized and will conquer." That was considered just "little infidelity" by many. However, there was no Apostolic Visitor seen by Bishop Raul Vera in Saltillo, let alone being deprived of his office, as compared that has been issued to Opus Dei  bishops, including Bishop Livieres Plano of Ciudad del Este in Paraguay. [And +Finn of Kansas] The Mexican media have already been writing since 2011 about Raul Vera: "People think that the bishop is not a Catholic."
The  journalist Emiliano Ruiz Parra wrote benevolently about him: "The Bishop of Saltillo is convinced that there is no salvation in heaven without liberation on earth. (...) He defends the Central American migrants, the miners, the homosexuals, the indigenous people, sex workers, the families of the disappeared in the Civil War. "  It pleased him to be "different".
In an interview with El Pais, Bishop Raul Vera told proudly what he said to a mother who had come to him to complain to him of her sorrow that her son was gay: "You have to condemn yourself, because your son has become that way in your belly. If he became the way he is, then it was in your stomach."
To have for each battle of the political left and let the unborn child in the lurch: Bishop Raul Vera

Catholic teaching on homosexuality "insane"

"Homophobic", is what the bishop says of all who reject homosexuality, who are "insane". Thus the bishop describes the Catholic doctrine and Catholics as "insane", are what protesting Catholics write in their letters to Rome.
In fact, Raul Vera made fun in 2013 at the 33rd Congress of Liberation Theology in Madrid  of what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says about homosexuality. The Congress was supported by organizations representing abortion and gender ideology. For Raul Vera it's no problem. By 2011, the bishop called for the legalization of abortion in Mexico and started a collaboration with abortion organizations. For this he has been proposed for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 "because of his struggle for human rights."
For his 25th anniversary, Bishop Raul Vera invited all leaders of Marxist liberation Theology, from Gustavo Gutierrez to Jon Sobrino. In 2011 he was warned by the Vatican because of his support for homosexual groups, which has changed nothing.
Following the example of the Bishop other priests in Saltillo talk in the sense of "gay lobby." Don Pedro Pantoja, director of the Casa del Migrante of Saltillo, is just one of them. In 2014 he told the press: "The Church can not reject the adoption rights for homosexuals out of respect for diversity."
"Padre Gofo" (left) in strange costume, Bishop Raul Vera (right)

"Padre Gofo" and Bishop Raul Vera

Adolfo Huerta Aleman, popularly known as "Padre Gofo", is a priest of the Diocese of Saltillo, who has denied the existence of God and publicly boasted to entertain "frequent and alternating sexual relations". Nevertheless, Bishop Raul Vera only suspended him "temporarily" until July 2013, only after the Congregation for the Clergy in Rome had become involved.
Criticism of Pope Benedict XVI.  appearing in the church newspaper of Saltillo were de rigeur.  Raul Vera has described himself  as a "controversial bishop". From a part of his diocese, he is rejected as a "liberal" who "twists the gospel" and "betrays the Catholic Church".

The closed and the open doors of Pope Francis

The late Bishop Livieres Plano left a flourishing diocese. His diocese, with just one-tenth of the Catholics of Paraguay, had three times as many seminarians as all other dioceses together. Which is a - not only - Latin American theme of vocations - and the shortage of priests. Argentina native went to Rome in September 2014  and  was deposed during his absence from his diocese by Pope Francis. In Ciudad del Este, it is said that he was downright "lured" to Rome, because once there the bishop was simply allowed to stand before closed doors. The reason for the dismissal was given that he had disrupted the community of the Paraguayan Bishops. Despite his repeated entreaties, Pope Francis refused a discussion.
Quite different is the case Saltillo.  Bishop Raul Vera is invited for next February by Pope Francis, where during a pastoral visit to Mexico,  he will meet privately, wrote InfoVaticana.  To be precise, it is a semi-private meeting at which only a small group of selected journalists and bishops will participate, a total of 20 people. And Bishop Raul Vera will be one of the elect.

Pope Downgrades the Church's Message on Bioethics

Edit: this came in the e-mail with the observation from a reader that the pope is outrageous to say this.  I'm sure we've all heard this sort of thing from the elderly Call to Action lady, the Sinsenawa Dominican who serves as an escort at an abortuary or a fly by night Nouvelle Theologian.  Surely, the Church has a privileged voice in this field and to suggest otherwise is monstrous. What of the unborn, the handicapped, the elderly and most fragile members of society?    Francis doesn't feel the same when it comes to the myth of man-made global warming, does he?

Here's something from Vatican Downslider:
“Everyone is aware of how sensitive the Church is to ethical issues but perhaps it is not clear to everyone that the Church does not lay claim to a privileged voice in this field…,” Pope Francis said in a meeting with the Italian Committee for Bioethics today, highlighting the risk of utility and profit being the only reference points for developments in science and biological and medical technologies. He urged this advisory body of the Italian government, headed by Francesco Paolo Casavola, a Catholic, to look further into environmental degradation, “disability and the marginalisation of vulnerable individuals”. He asked them in other words to tackle the challenge of countering today’s “throwaway culture” which “takes on many forms, including treating human embryos as disposable material, as well as sick and elderly people approaching the end”. The Pope also asked them to harmonise standards and norms in the biological and medical fields.
Just monstrous:

Bioethics, established by the President of the Council for Ministers in Italy 25 years ago,” Francis said. “Everyone is aware of how sensitive the Church is to ethical issues but perhaps it is not clear to everyone that the Church does not lay claim to a privileged voice in this field; in fact it is a source of great satisfaction for the Church when civic responsibility at different levels is able to reflect, discern and act according to a free and open way of thinking and inspired by integral human and social values. This mature civic responsibility is a sign that the seed of the Gospel – which has been revealed and entrusted to the Church – has produced fruits, successfully fostering the search for truth and good in complex human and ethical questions”

"Deeply Disturbing" --- On March 19th The Post-Synodal Letter About the Family Appears

Archbishop Paglia in Portugal:  Pope Francis Will Publish the Post-Synodal
Letter in March

Edit: Rorate is saying that it will be Tucho Fernandez who writes the letter.

(Rome) The post-synodal letter to the Synod of Bishops on the Family will be published in March. The chairman of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia, told the Portuguese news agency Agencia Ecclesia.

The Agency wrote:
"The information was reported by Agencia Ecclesia, quoting the President of the Pontifical Family Council, Don Vincenzo Paglia, during the training days scheduled for priests which taking place until Thursday in the southern ecclesiastical province in Albufeira in the Algarve."

Initially it was said that the post-synodal letter would appear in February. The letter will be eagerly awaited. Since Pope Francis has creaated considerable tension in the Church when announcing the double-Synod of Bishops on the Family in 2013. A fundamental dispute about the indissolubility of marriage and the Catholic moral teaching has broken out. It is about the admission of remarried divorcees to the sacraments, and thus to the de facto recognition of a second marriage, and the acceptance of homosexuality. Both points are being promoted by the liberal group in the Church. The spokesman for the divorced and remarried is Cardinal Walter Kasper. One of the spokesmen for the recognition of homosexuality is curia Archbishop Vincenzo Paglia.

The Synod of Bishops ended in October 2015 with a laborious compromise which just avoided a break in the Church. The Kasperians were supported by Pope Francis suffered a defeat, but they want to still want to twist by way of "interpretation" and thanks to support from the Pope, into a victory.

The draft "puts the natural law in question"

The Vatican expert Edward Pentin of the National Catholic Register reported today that the letter will be unveiled to the public on March 19, on the feast of St. Joseph and the third anniversary of the inauguration of Pope Francis.

According Pentin's "well informed sources" Archbishop Victor Manuel Fernandez, the ghostwriter of Pope Francis and rector of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, should be the principal author of the letter. Fernandez is one of the closest confidants of Pope Francis. He even appointed him as Archbishop of Buenos Aires Rector despite great resistance by the competent Roman Congregation for Education. When Pope Francis was elected, he let those feel his wrath, who had at the time opposed the appointment of Fernandez, while he raised Fernandez to Titular Archbishop and personally appointed him as a votinng member of the Synod of Bishops.

A moral theologian, says Pentin, has seen the draft and is "deeply disturbed" about it. The draft "puts the natural law in question".

Cowardly Archbishop Endorses Gender Ideology

[Tablet] Archbishop Denis Hart of Melbourne has urged Catholic schools to be sensitive and respectful to students who wish to bring a same-sex date to school formal events.

The Age newspaper in Melbourne reported on 22 January about a previously unreported case at the oldest girls’ secondary college in Victoria, the Academy of Mary Immaculate in Fitzroy, where a student started an online petition after she was told by the co-ordinator for Year 12 (the final year of secondary school) that she couldn't bring a female partner to the school formal.

In response to questions from the paper, Archbishop Hart said: "These are quite often emotional situations and it's very important that we always have respect for the dignity of the human being involved.

Collegeville Benedictines Dox Their Victims

Edit: they don't have much respect for persons. Saint John's Abbey is a Benedictine religious community in central Minnesota which has gradually, over a period of a century, sold its Catholic identity for some really ugly Bauhais architecture, ugly liturgical music and abuses, plus flagrant heresy, including Marxism.  Now they are attacking people who've been wronged by them, by publishing court records and private information in what seems to be a tactic of intimidation.
We've been covering this dump for about 5 years in this blog. It's an evil place.
 - It’s called the “Minnesota Transparency Initiative.” This month, in the interest of transparency, Saint John’s Abbey released thousands of pages of documents tied to monks “credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors” decades ago. However, some of the victims tell Fox 9 the release went too far — exposing private information about survivors.
Names of survivors were not released, and were redacted. However, one survivor, Louise (last name withheld), pointed Fox 9 to information she believes is personal and identifying that was posted online. Another survivor pointed to a deposition posted online.
In Louise’s case, documents included copies of e-mails sent from a psychologist to the head of the Abbey detailing information about Louise’s family, medication, and health diagnoses.

Moscow Patriarchate Denies Reports of Francis-Kirill Meeting

The Russian Orthodox Church rules out any get-together when the two leaders travel to Cuba and Mexico in February. A report about a possible meeting in a third country recently appeared in Italian media.

Moscow (AsiaNews) – The Moscow Patriarchate has denied recent reports in Italian media of a possible meeting next month in Latin America between the pope and the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

"The Patriarch and the Pope's Latin American visit programs do not intersect," said Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), Russian Orthodox Church's spokesman for inter-Christian relations.

"The leader of the Russian Orthodox Church and the head of the Roman Catholic one will be visiting completely different countries, albeit on the same continent," he added.

David Haas' Diversity Creed

Edit: perhaps you have suffered through the music of David Haas and wondered why it was so bad? Part of the clue might be its inspiration.  Jeff Ostrowski writes:819 David Haas

HE FIRST TIME I HEARD the name “David Haas” was on a CMAA website a few years ago. He was posting there, but when people started asking him questions he left—and never returned. (At least that’s my recollection.) It turns out David Haas is an extremely popular composer for the Ordinary Form. 1 I’ve never forgotten his last name because of its memorable spelling.

A Facebook Creed by David Haas was sent to me this morning. Much could be said about his edict—and haeresim sapiens comes to mind when I read statements like “ministry is not about believing in God”—but I don’t have time for a long post today.

Collegeville: Courageous Women Confront Alleged Canon Law Professor at Conference Promoting New Mercy

Edit: there was a dramatic confrontation at the aforementioned canon law presentation by  Father Dan Ward OSB, shilling for the New Mercy of Pope Francis,  this past Sunday.  They're trying to catch a boost from the Bergoglio Effect.   Two of Ward's alleged victims confronted him during the question and answer section.
One of the especially interesting features of this confrontation was that the name of Josh Guimond, who's been reported missing from St. John's since November 10, 2002, was mentioned by one of the first of Dan Ward's alleged victims. Josh Guimond had been studying  abuse at Collegeville prior to disappearing, and was a captain of Dan Ward's Mock Trial team.
St. John's Abbey has long been source of heresy and liturgical abuse since even the 20s when Liturgical Reformer, Father Virgil Michel OSB, was celebrating illicit Masses to as part of  the so-called Liturgical Movement, among whose stated aims was active participation in the liturgy, social justice and inclusion into the Mystical Body of Christ.  Virgil's activist, deforming and dissident work was carried on by Vatican II Peritus, Father Godfrey Dieckmann OSB and his successors at Orate Fratres, now Worship Magazine, like the credibly accused predator and heretical Father Dunstan Moorse OSB who is now its editor.
Many still unfortunately do not see a connection between the credible pederastic and criminal sexual conduct of these individuals and their heretical beliefs, but we'd submit to you that as in cases like this outside of the Catholic Church, (Which aren't regarded with the same venom and moral outrage in the media, see Roman Polanksi and David Bowie, for example, in the entertainment media, psychhology, education and so on) there is a powerful link between beliefs and the abuse of power.
What are Bishop Barron's beliefs?

We've copied and pasted the entire article for clarity, and for preservation purposes, which includes the transcript of the question and answer session:

[Behind the Pine Curtain] On Sunday, January 24, 2016, Father Dan Ward gave a presentation (via Skype) to an audience of 50-75 people on the campus of Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.
One of Father Ward’s alleged victims attended. Father Ward admitted to the audience that he met with the alleged victim in the vice-president’s office [at the College St. Benedict] years ago, but he didn’t want to have a discussion about something that “was settled.”
Note: In October of 2012, Saint John’s Abbey confirmed that Father Dan Ward was under investigation for sexual misconduct. The public has yet to learn the results of that investigation, though Father Ward resigned from as Executive Director of the RCRI in May of 2013. Father Ward taught at St. John’s Prep School and St. John’s University.

Blasphemy: Koran Suras Recited Over the Grave of St. Martin of Tours

(Paris) "The pope's video   has led the way: certain meetings in the spirit of the New World Religion are now on the agenda," said Chiesa e Postconcilio. On January 17, the Archbishop of Tours, the Cistercian, Bernard Nicolas Aubertin-, are among guests invited. It's not just in his episcopal residence or one of the numerous parish halls, but in the Basilica of St. Martin. Archbishop Aubertin sat in the high choir on 17 January with an Imam, representatives of the Islamic and Buddhist community and other Christian denominations. On the steps of the high choir,  the word Paix (peace) was projected.

The Quran was recited over the tomb of Saint Martin Martin of Tours

St. Martin was third bishop of Tours and was buried after his death in 397 in the city. Above his grave  the great basilica of Saint Martin de Tours was soon built and became a great pilgrimage site of Latin Christendom.
In 732 Tours was the scene of Muslim looting that took place in the Frankish Empire from Spain. Charles Martel, the head of the House of  the Merovingians, defeated them at the Battle of Poitiers and thus stopped the Muslim advance in the West.
In 1562 Protestants set alight the  saint's tomb. Only some of his remains could be saved and buried in the grave anew.
During the French Revolution, the basilica, except for a few, still visible parts, was destroyed. In 1860 the grave of the saint was again exposed and  they started over with the construction of a new basilica. In 1889 a new crypt for the grave was completed, and in 1925 the new basilica was consecrated.

Year of Mercy and Compassion in the Qur'an?

Xavier Gué, the church rector referred in his welcome to Saint Martin, who was a soldier. He had made his sword, with which he could kill the enemy, into an instrument of sharing.
Then all the religious leaders spoke for their respective communities. The Anglican representative quoted the prophet Micah and the Apostle Paul. An Imam sang the Fatiha, the initial chapter of the Koran.
Archbishop Aubertin presented a connection between the Year of Mercy and compassion in Islam.
The Dominican Jean-François Bour, Head of the Department for Interreligious  Dialogue in the   Archdiocese of Tours asked in conclusion for everyone to mutually support each other, to pray for one another and develop a desire "to live with our brothers in a benevolent and honest dialogue".

Toast in the Church

Then all those present were even invited to a "friendship cup" a  drink held in the back of   church.
"It remains completely unclear why church leaders are urged to carry out more and more foreign liturgical events liturgy in the church. If I want to come together with Muslims and Buddhists, then I do it somewhere, but not in the church. What are you offering here to substitute for the Liturgy and the encounter with Christ in the Sacrament?"  Wrote a Catholic from Tours among the comments of Riposte Catholique about the" Interfaith Encounter" at the Basilica.

Francis to Scalfari: "Don't Convert" -- Benigni on the Duo: "Revolutionaries See Themselves as the Same"

(Rome) Eugenio Scalfari, the founder and former chief editor of the daily newspaper La Repubblica, the only daily newspaper that Pope Francis reads daily, according to his own statement, insists:  remarried divorcees will be re-admitted to the sacraments. This was written by an avowed atheist from a family with an old Masonic tradition and a doyen of left journalism in Italy on Sunday in his column.
Due to some highly controversial interviews that he  conducted with Pope Francis, Scalfari created the aura of around himself of a "secular friend of the pope" and even as the "secular voice of the Pope". From the front page of Repubblica  Scalfari announced how Pope Francis wants to "change" the Church. "Pope Francis: So I'm going to change the Church," this  headline was aired on 1 October 2013 when the first Scalfari interview with the Pope was printed.

Scalfaris Column: "Remarried divorcees are to be admitted to communion"

Am. 1 November 2015 Scalfari wrote few days after the end of the hotly debated Synod on the family, that the Pope had called him and announced to him: "All remarried divorcees are able to receive Holy Communion." Then this was followed up by his column yesterday.
In it he took among other things, a position on the Church's teaching in the  "gay marriage" debate  and told his readers why Pope Francis could not enforce his program so quickly and completely:
"Of course, Francis must, as has already happened in the synodal discussions on the issue of remarried divorcees,  those who want the re-admission to the sacraments, must seek  for (temporary) compromise solutions in order to preserve the unity of the Synodal Church.
The compromise on the subject of the sacraments for remarried divorcees was, for the bishops and the confessors commissioned by them,  to transfer the decision as to whether the petitioner can be accepted back or not. In this way, the door for the re-admission was half open, case by case.  However, for those who want it - should  they have received a negative opinion from the confessor - it is always possible to petition again after a certain time of penance, and it is also possible, but it is then even more certain that this second application will be accepted.
At this stage - as we know - the tension between the Pope and the Curia has reached its maximum, which means that Francis must hold together the largest possible majority of the episcopate, which preferably includes a pastoral action and in this way represents the missionary Church willed by Francis. That  comprehensively explains the compromise when it comes to marriage and civil unions."
As far as Scalfari in his column of January 24 goes,   an atheist goes into amazing detail about the Catholic Church, whose sacraments and even access to these is of great interest.

Ambivalent attitude of the Vatican: half-hearted denials

Scalfari perpetuates the stereotype of the "good" Pope, who is hindered by a "bad" Curia from implementing his reform program, because he has had to take consideration so as not to jeopardize the unity of the Church. Scalfari thus explains  the audience that even in the church majorities first would have to be found and could proceed only gradually. In addition, his emphasis on the "synodal church" is an appeal, with which his signals for a new church.
Pope Francis has granted Scalfari several interviews, whose contents were concocted according to the   free admission of the La Repubblica founder. Since then, there is talk of a "Scalfari Magisterium". The reactions were ambivalent. On one hand, the Vatican press-service respectively denied  the content, without offering any real clarification. On the other hand  Pope Francis resolutely confirms  the talks. The controversial interviews were even included in an anthology of interviews with the Pope  and published by the Vatican Publishing.  A serious distancing looks different.

Scalfari's anecdotes and Begninis: "Revolutionaries are see themselves as the same"

Eugenio Scalfari meanwhile enjoys having an "excellent feeling" for the Pope, he said at the 40th anniversary celebration of La Repubblica, which was celebrated last January 14th. On this occasion Scalfari explained that  Pope Francis had asked him  "not to convert", as the Pope said, he did not know  where he would otherwise find another unbeliever like him with whom he could talk and get new stimuli. "This amused the applauding crowd," is how La Notizia described the scene.
Scalfari sat at the launch of the interview book by Andreas Tornielli and Pope Francis at the Vatican as a guest of honor in the front row. The presentation was made by the wildly popular Italian  actor and comedian Roberto Benigni, who ensured maximum ratings and sympathy. Benigni said, in his usual burlesque manner of  presentation that he even "likes this pope, but very very" and one "can not respond well to a moderate type: either you talk good about him or nothing," about this Pope.  Pope Francis "is a revolutionary, as he has been called  by Eugenio Scalfari, who is also a revolutionary. Revolutionaries see themselves as the same," said Benigni.

The New Mercy as Interpreted by a Sexual Predator?

[Collegeville] what happens when a canon lawyer with all of the appropriate degrees is also a credibly accused sexual predator?  Saint John's Abbey houses what just might be the  largest concentration of free ranging sexual predators in the world. It was once the largest monastery in the world, but its numbers have dwindled considerably, and when encountering the monks, clear and distinct ideas develop as to why.

Father Dan Ward is going to attack the sacrament of marriage using his credentials in the appearances of legitimate ministry.

Ward has been credibly accused by former college students on four occasions of sexual exploitation. One by a young monk, and one student who came to St. John's Abbey for a visit after high school.

Now he's going to help stage manage the New Mercy in the annulment process, away from objectivity to the murk of sentiment.

Some Bishops have been dismissed and hounded out of their positions for far, far less. How about some mercy for the Church and take a long exile in the desert or leave the ministry entirely?

What Does Pope Francis Think of the Council? -- Put Cardinal Sarah in Prison?

What does Pope Francis Think of the Council?
(Rome)  what does Pope Francis think of the Second Vatican Council? It was recently the topic at Il sismografo (The seismograph), an unofficial press review of  the Vatican Secretariat of State on the Internet. The "Seismograph" provokes "little earthquakes" wrote the Vatican expert Sandro Magister. The recent "earthquake" relates to "nothing less than the hermeneutics of the Second Vatican Council, as interpreted  and applied by   Pope Francis."
The people involved in the matter are:
Luis Badilla Morales, the chief editor of Il sismografo, a Chilean who "was a Minister of the Allende government and since 1973 in political exile in Europe" (Terred'America) and has worked for many years at Vatican Radio
Massimo Faggioli, church historian and a leader of the progressive "School of Bologna" along with Giuseppe Alberigo, for whom  the  Second Vatican Council was a positive "break" and "new beginning" in the Church's history;

Bishop Fellay of SSPX Leads the Way at DC March for Life

Edit: there is no appearance by the local ordinary of the capital [by which I meant to say that I didn't see anything in the itinerary, but Cardinal Wierl was present and said Mass.] but Bishop Bernard Fellay has not only come, but he will even be saying Holy Mass for the event.  Bishop Loverde and Bishop Slattery are also giving their support.  Bishop Zubik couldn't make it because of the weather.

There's also the sermon he gave at Mass.

"Gay Marriage": Bishops Uncertain About Pope's Course -- Which Led to Defeat in Argentina in 2010

(Rome) The Family Day, which is the planned demonstration for the 30th of January, organized by the Italian Manif pour tous, and the Pope's attitude about it, has set off a battle royal in the Italian Bishops' Conference -- between its President Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco and the General Secretary Bishop Nunzio Galantino.  Additionally it's still being discussed in Argentina to this day whether Jorge Mario Bergoglio, had favored the introduction of "gay marriage"  when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires and Primate of Argentina in 2010.
The president  of the Italian Episcopal Conference is automatically the pope as Bishop of Rome. However, he appointed as representative  both a delegated President [He was voted in by a majority vote, which was then considered a snub to the pope.] as well as the Secretary-General. Cardinal Bagnasco was acquired by Pope Francis from his predecessor. Bishop Galatino, however, was introduced by him and is considered a "man of the pope". On the first Family Day, on June 20, 2015   a million people took part to protest against the introduction of "gay marriage" and against the gender ideology in schools.  Now the debate begins in Parliament, which is the reason for a second Family Day, to tell the representatives of the people what the Catholics and other people of good will do not want.

Even Though the Pope Doesn't Want it, Throngs Will Oppose Gender-Ideology in Rome

(Rome) Italy is currently experiencing what France experienced 2012/2013, and is gearing up for another popular demonstration against the introduction of "gay marriage" and the gender ideology in schools and kindergartens. The rally will be held, although Pope Francis gave to understand that he which does not wish it and has tasked papal Adjudants in the Bishops' Conference to  pressure against the rally. The question is of European importance, because the issues are the same everywhere. After the defeat in France, such should be prevented in Italy. Yesterday, the date for the rally was announced. In only twelve days, the organizers are hoping for a mass mobilization.
On January 26, the Senate of the Italian Parliament starts debate on a bill, the DDL Cirinnà, named after a left democratic senator.
