Is it an Exorcism or Not? Video of Pope Francis.

Immemorial Mass of All Ages in Notre Dame Cathedral and Canterbury

Pilgrimage of Tradition to Notre Dame -- Plenary Indulgence in the "Year of Faith" 

(Paris) 2013 is not just still the Year of Faith called by Pope Benedict XVI. In the Archdiocese of Paris, the 850th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of Notre Dame.  That powerful gothic Cathedral, which in the past days has been desecrated by the suicide of  conservative historian, Dominique Venner and a subsequent grotesquely staged and paid entrance of the political agitators Femen.

On May 29th in connection with the Year of Faith and the 850th Anniversary of the Cathedral's consecration, a pilgrimage of tradition will also take place.  Around 7pm the pilgrimage will depart from the parish church of St. Eugene-St. Cecile in Paris.  The parish is 'birutual'.  It celebrates on Sunday and work days in the ordinary as well as the extraordinary form of the Mass in the Roman Rite.

The pilgrimage will lead through the old city to Notre Dame.  In the Cathedral at 8:15 the Immemorial Mass of All Ages will be celebrated.  The participants have the possibility under the usual qualifications, to receive a plenary indulgence for living and death, as granted by Pope Benedict XVI..

Abbé, aka Brother Vesin, had represented progressivist positions as a priest in Megeve. He called for the abolition of celibacy, defended the secularization of state and society, artificial contraception and the introduction of "gay marriage". In January 2013, he publicly condemned people who were against the Taubira  bill, with which the socialist government was about to introduce the "gay marriage".

On Monday, the Diocese of Annecy has called a press conference on the Vesin case. Since yesterday, the former priest has been excommunicated. It is forbidden for him to receive the sacraments.

[Galliawatch] The Manif Pour Tous, on the occasion of the promulgating of the law known as "marriage for everyone", issued the following appeal to all Frenchmen concerned about the law and its consequences for France and for civiization:

This law consecrates the abolition of the fundamental principle of marriage between a man and a woman. It implies, through full adoption for everybody, that a child presumably can be born of two men or two women; it consecrates the law of gender despite the universal nature of feminine and masculine sexual identities. It is a major upheaval of civilization!

Note: "Gender" is a term imported to France from the United States. It refers to the fantasy that a baby is born "neutral" and is free to "choose" to be a man or a woman. This "gender theory" is now being taught in French schools.

The bare-chested woman was photographed in front of the altar, pointing a fake gun at her mouth. The slogan "May Fascists Rest In Hell" was written across her torso.

FEMEN leader Inna Schevchenko commented to Le HuffPost that the protest was a message to "anyone who supports fascism and who honored the memory of the extreme-right militant who committed suicide at Notre Dame."

Cardinal Rouco Appoints Eight New Exorcists for Archdiocese of Madrid

EU Plans Penalties For Parties Who Don’t Participate in “the Values of the EU"

In the European Parliament there are at the present 13 member parties.  They represent in total 31 million Euro in party financing.  In the future should it be possible, the parliament will be able to exclude parties from this financing.

In Denmark the proposal is being rebuffed.  The current Europe Minister, Nicolai Wammen, has been asked of several parties, to only affirm this ruling, if it could be previously defined, what “values” it concretely holds.

As the Danish website information.dk reports, Lykke Friis, the speaker for Danish Liberals said, there must be objective criteria, in order to prevent that the ruling can be abused as a “vendetta” against opposing points of view.  The Green Nicholas Villumsen said:  “that would be the case, as the parliament would impose punishments against parties with false opinions. It is very concerning that the European Parliament Parties will be punished for their convictions.”

Wammen appeased the critics and said the rules will not be directed against parties, which only participate in national politics.  Otherwise it only relates to the “fundamental foundations of democracy, the due process and respect for minorities.”

Actually such a regulation is very dangerous.  It opens the floodgates of political pressure on conscience.  Because furthermore, what values mean, can mean very different things to different people. In a tense climate of crisis such a ruling may make EU critics stifled. The right to freedom of expression may be put under pressure by such a ruling.

A prohibition with a penalty of certain opinions will lead above all so that thought is also limited.  One of the advantages of democracy is that one can speak his opinion and can form political groups freely, so long as they act within the bounds of the law.

“Values” on the other hand are not clearly cut, democratically approved laws.  They are often hazy and may,  as they are according to linguistic or cultural backgrounds, often not clearly defined.

The compulsion, to believe in “values” is undemocratic.

It is dangerous -- and on top of everything unnecessary: already today the European Parliament has the possibility,  to prove especially distinctive speech with punishment:  So, Nigel Farage has had to pay a 3,000 [2,700] Euro fine, that he had described EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy as having the “Charisma of a wet rag”.

In the future such a rebuff could also be punishable under the EU canon of values.

Conservative French Historian Shoots Himself to Oppose Aberromarriage

A French man committed suicide inside Notre Dame cathedral in Paris on May 21.

Dominique Venner, a 78-year-old historian and activist with a long history of involvement in traditionalist and nationalist causes, killed himself with a gunshot to the head, prompting police to evacuate the cathedral.

Venner had been a bitter opponent of the legal recognition of same-sex marriage, and had recently written that it would “require new, spectacular and symbolic actions to rouse people” to oppose the measure. Before taking his own life, he placed a sealed envelope on the altar of the cathedral. Police did not reveal the content of the letter.

Venner had been a member of the Organisation de l’Armée Secrete, the group of Algerian war veterans that sought to assassinate Charles de Gaulle, and was jailed for his role in the group. He had subsequently been involved with a variety of groups opposing Communism and immigration. At the same time, his historical work had drawn critical praise, earning him an award from the Academie Francaise.

Incidents of Vandalism and Mayhem in Europe Involving Churches and a Mosque

Winterthur, 05/21/13 (Kipa) in Winterthur the minaret of the mosque of the Islamic-Albanian Association, the crescent was damaged and stolen by unknown individuals. The President of the Association, Memet Ulla Saliji, confirmed to the news agency Kipa the incident. This was reported to the police. The community is now waiting on how the situation evolves. In precaution, a surveillance camera is set up.

The political horror show is continuing," in English, scrawled in black and red ink, with "Help us Pope Francis" in Italian. He also waved an Italian flag as he balanced precariously above a small window near the top of the 137-metre dome.

Man Shoots Himself in Notre Dame

(NEWSER) – Paris' legendary Notre Dame Cathedral was evacuated today, after a man shot himself in front of the altar, police tell France 24. The incident occurred at around 4pm local time, while the tourist attraction was open to the public. The man was described as middle-aged, appearing between 50 and 60 years old.

Silent March for the Kidnapped Metropolitans in Amman

Damascus / Beirut, 20.5.13 (Yarmulke) On Tuesday the Christian churches organized a silent march in which they are demanding the release of the two Bishops abducted a month ago in Aleppo, Metropolitan Mar Gregorios Yuhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yazigi. Assad talks about the Abduction

Syrian President Bashar Assad has taken the first time publicly on the fate of the two abducted Aleppo metropolitans position. In an interview published at the weekend with the Argentine daily newspaper "Clarin" he was asked, among other things about the two bishops. Egypt: More Attacks on Coptic Orthodox Community. Two Churches Set on Fire

Cairo (AsiaNews / Agencies) - The Egyptian Coptic community faces a new escalation of attacks by Islamists. On 17 May, two churches were attacked with Molotov cocktails in the district of Dakhela, west of Alexandria, Egypt, and Menpal in Upper Egypt.

In Alexandria over 20 thousand Muslims attacked the church of St. Mary setting fire to the entrance of the building and shattering windows. A man died of a heart attack in the attack. In response to the violence, hundreds of Copts left their homes to create a human wall around the building. According to witnesses some Islamists armed with pistols and knives fired on the crowd, causing some injuries.

At the origin of the clashes is a dispute between two neighbors. Basem Ramzy Michael, a Coptic Christian, is reported to have behaved inappropriately towards the sister of Alloshy Hamada, a Muslim with a criminal record. In a short time the dispute between the two erupted into a sectarian clash.

A similar incident occurred last May 13, in the village of Menbal, Matay district, north of the province of Minya, where a Muslim mob stormed the church called the Tadros el-Mashreki and assaulted one person inside. The assailants threw stones at the building, looted Christian shops nearby and burned cars. The Coptic minority has been threatened with expulsion from the village. Once again the violence was sparked by a trivial quarrel between two young people. Some young Muslims are reported to have made advances to a group of Coptic girls, as they entered the church. Irritated at having been ignored the group waited for the young Christian girls to leave the Church and threw bags filled with urine at them. The young people were rescued by some Christians peers who have started a heated argument with Muslims. As in other cases, the news spread across the village. In a short time a crowd of Islamists rallied in front of the church, forcing young people to take refuge inside.

Ehab Ramzy, a Coptic Christian, prosecutor in the province and former member of parliament, said Menbal has a Muslim majority, while Manshiet Menbal, 10 kilometers away, has Coptic majority. "The Christians of the two villages - he explains - have nothing to do with the fight that took place in Manshiet Menbal. The young people were attacked just because they are Christian." Two young Muslim men were arrested by police in Menbal. In the coming days there will be a reconciliation meeting between the two communities. "Now - he adds - the security forces are trying to arrest some young Copts. They have become a bargaining chip to seek reconciliation."

AsiaNews sources underline that the attacks against the Coptic community are now a daily occurrence and are being ignored by the police, who because of the climate of chaos, let communities resolve disputes among themselves, although this can result in dead or wounded. The most serious incident took place on April 7 in front of the Cathedral of St. Mark in Cairo, where a group of Islamists attacked funerals of four Christians killed in sectarian clashes that took place on April 5 in the district of Khosous, on the outskirts of the capital, with stones and Molotov cocktails. The assault, which took place before the eyes of the police, left two dead and over 80 injured. A church building caught fire.

Counter Demonstration Against Gomorrist Propaganda -- Obama's New Cultural Imperialism

(Tbilisi) U.S. President Barack Obama is running a new form of cultural imperialism. He announced that the U.S. Foreign Policy promotes gay rights around the world and to measure the implementation of human rights in the individual countries whether the "rights" for homosexuals can be guaranteed. What is meant by these "rights" corresponds one to one to the LGBT list of demands, most notably the introduction of the "gay marriage" and adoption in the law.  A similar statement was issued to all the diplomatic missions of the United States. However, not all countries share the opinion of the current U.S. government.

This also applies to Georgia. Thousands of Orthodox priests protested in the Georgian capital against a rally of homosexuals who were demanding these "rights". The priests carried banners reading "No to Spiritual Genocide" and "No to Homosexuality." The  counter demonstration had occurred after the government did not ban the Gomorrah rally, as  was requested by the Georgian Orthodox Church.

The priests were accompanied by many laymen. Young men threw eggs and stones at the gay demonstrators. The police invited them on yellow minibuses to bring them to safety. The minibuses were also attacked by counter-demonstrators. Three policemen and nine aberro-protesters had to get medical treatment.

Georgia's new prime minister Bidsina Ivanishvili condemned the violence in a statement to the press on Friday evening. On Wednesday, Ilia II, the Patriarch of the Georgian Orthodox Church had compared Gomorrists with drug addicts. Public demonstrations of homosexuals he described as a "violation of the rights of God and of the majority" of the Georgians.

"We will protect our orthodoxy and not allow that someone wipe his shoes on our faith,"  said one Orthodox participant in the counter demonstration to the New York Times.

Leftist Bishop Assigned to Diocese of 250,000 Catholics in Feldkirch

Fr. Elbs was the desired candidate of the media. As the anti-Catholic newspaper "Der Standard” saw it in the autumn of 2012, he should have become the Bishop of Graz-Seckau. But now it’s the bishop of Feldkirch.

As we learn from the Episcopate

Fr. Elbs addresses in a press conference on 8 May 2013 in Vorarlberg his appointment as bishop of Feldkirch, a small diocese established in 1968 with almost 250,000 Catholics.

With an "Buona sera I can’t well say, so instead I say Grüss Gott", said Fr.Elbs at the press conference. Within, he was going "haywire".

It was "a little downer" for a Bregenzerwälder as one put it, that he was just in Montafon. After a church service with the Linz (Auxiliary) Bishop Ludwig, he learned "in a parking lot with beautiful flowering trees” that in a call from the Nunciature,  he was appointed bishop.

He feels great gratitude for the many people who are involved in the Diocese of Feldkirch. He thanks his parents and all the “close companion and companions", also  "Bishop Elmar (Fischer) as his predecessor Bishop".

Career

Hw. Elbs was born in 1960 in Bregenz, he attended  Bregenz Bundesgymnasium, then he studied theology in Innsbruck with a thesis (1986) about: “Penance instruction and religious education: a critical analysis of current teaching materials and catechetical / religious education aspects for a responsible practice."

In 1982 Fr. Elbs concluded the study of psychology. He received a diploma in Logotherapy and Existential Analysis by Viktor Frankl.

He was ordained a priest by Bishop Bruno Wechner 16 May 1986, then a chaplain in Bregenz Mariahilf and religion teacher.

By Bishop Küng first as a chaplain in (1989), held the Diocesan Boarding School the Marianum (rector from 1990), and the Pastoral Office.

From 1993, he also worked as a psychotherapist.

In April 2003 Fr. Elbs was chaplain to His Holiness. Two years later, on July 4th 2005, Bishop Elmar Fischer appointed him Vicar General. Since 2008, Fr. Elbs carries the dignity of prelate.

Since 16 November 2011, he led the diocese after election by the College of Consultors of the Diocese of Feldkirch as diocesan administrator.

The consecration as bishop of Feldkirch is on 30 June 2013 was performed by Archbishop Alois Kothgasser, Cardinal Schönborn and the Nuncio Archbishop Zurbriggen. The left ORF is so pleased, that it has transmuted his consecration as bishop on Austrian television.

The new bishop

When the (from now on, old) Bishop Fischer described homosexuality as in reality as curable, Fr. Elbs soothed the media's aberrosexual lobby by relativizing the episcopal statement.

The new Bishop sees himself as a "team player", a renewal of the Church "must come from below," says the left's quote from him. He hopes for a stronger "dialogic interaction".

"Small communities to read the Bible together and become socially engaged" to help conceal the priest shortage. There are "base communities" of the Church to breathe additional life. Let us recall here a warning of St. Curé of Ars: "Leave a church 20 years without a priest, and they will pray to animals ..."

Bishop Elbs expressly presented the leftist Bishop Erwin Kräutler as a model.

Cardinal Schönborn said to the newly appointed "It is an encouraging signal that the first episcopal appointment in the German speaking world by Pope Francis is a man who will truly act in his country very credibly and well beyond the borders of the church also." - Apparently the previously appointed Bishops do not  seem "really very credible."

In 2011, Fr. Elbs spoke against sanctions against Schüller’s break-from-Rome pastor, he pled for "talks".

The  non-occupation of the papal apartments by Pope Francis has found in Hw. Elbs a copycat: In the Bishopric, a villa on the Hirschgraben, the newly appointed bishop would not occupy it since he had already decided he wanted to "live as simply as the average in Vorarlberg".

In an interview with the “Vorarlberg news" Fr. Elbs himself the  questions that have been resolved recently and validly in Rome, such as being evasive about  the impossibility of women priests. On the question whether the “moratorium on discussion" decreed by Pope John Paul II still applies, he answers evasively, probably with a different position than the teaching of the Church, it states: "The most important thing is - I maintain - the culture of free speech. The bottom line is that you have to discuss all the issues. "

Similarly, the expressions of celibacy with references to former Anglican or Orthodox, who had converted to Catholicism, married priests.

A bishop who expressed here as ambiguously as this,  just does not show his conformity with Rome.

Church Vandalism Grows in France -- Thieves or Satanists?

Child Porn in the Pentagon: As Usual, Abject Silence

Edit: we sometimes go over to Henry Makow, and came upon this story about large numbers of Pentagon employees accessing child pornography.  Perhaps some will remember a similar story that made the rounds about allegations of pornography use at the Vatican, involving depraved, but still legal images.   There are about 800 permanent employees at the Vatican, but none of the reports, although they were eager to denounce the supposed hypocrisy of the Vatican, didn't actually give any numbers.

Take on the other hand, the over 800 cases of actual downloading of child pornography at the Pentagon.  Try 5,200. Although much more glaring, and even illegal, the story hasn't gotten the same traction as a salacious story about the Vatican.  Still less were there any calls for a leadership change among the powers that be in our "Democratically" elected government.

What's especially interesting in recent reports pointing the finger at men in the media, is that more than 10,000 men reported being sexually assaulted in the military. It would be interesting to know the incidence of males preying on males.

"Hands Off My Church" -- Young Catholics Call for Silent March Against Hostility to Catholics in Avignon

(Avignon) On Monday, the 20th of May a march will take place in the south French city of Avignon against anti-Christianity, The initiative is being planned by a group of young Catholics. They are reacting with it against the increasing violence against priests, religious and ecclesiastical facilities in the city of St. Ruf. The most recent incident was a violent attack of four suspected North African Muslims against a priest of the St. John Society on May 13th.  The four attackers struck the priest unconscious.

The march isn't only directed against the antagonistica and aggressive disposition of parts of the Muslim  inhabitants of the city, rather in general against the anti-Church climate.  In the demonstration, the organizers deplore the scandal "Piss Christ" from April 2011, as a museum in Avignon as an "art work" of a crucifix placed in the urine of the "artist".  Or against the insulting parades through the streets of the "city of the Popes" and the damage of a cemetery of Valréas.  "The anti-Christian hate grows (blasphemous theater pieces, desecrated churches etc...)"  is named in the outcry of the young Catholics.  "We are complaining with emphasis on the lack of a reaction by the authorities and a part of the media, when it comes to the desecration and profanation and we complain with stress on the absence of any reaction against the violent attack on a man of the Church."

The initiators also call out not to tolerate hostility to the Church. "We observe the Cathophobia as an attack against the identity of France of of the French."  The young Catholics are calling upon the "World culture and the homo-lobby".

The young Catholics call upon the  "World Culture and the homo-lobby", in their struggle against homophobia, "to put a stop to our defamation". [Good luck with that.]

"We appeal that the State President and the Interior Minister who are so prompt to condemn the poor situation of Muslims, hostility against Islam and anti-Semitism, to do their duty by Catholics, who have been defamed and injured by anti-Christian attacks.  We are not second class citizens."

With their appeal, the initiators call upon "all people of good will", to "take part in our protest" themselves.  The March begins on Monday, the 20th of May at 2pm at the Place du Palais of the Popes.   "We hope that many French Muslims and Jewish believers will take part in the silent march".   A logo has been created for the demonstration.  A black edged, yellow hand with the slogan:  "Hands off of My Church".  The colors recall on the Identity Movement, a structureless, informal and spontaneous new movement,  which has its origin in France.

The "Black Pope" Selected as the Speaker of for Religious Superiors

(Rome) Father Adolfo Nicolas, since 2008,  elected as the 30th Superior General of the Jesuits, was elected as the president of religious orders (USG) of the Union of Superiors General.[pdf] In the USG more than 200 of the great male orders of the Catholic Church are united. The largest order of the church is the Society of Jesus, founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola, Society of Jesus, better known as the Jesuits.  Pope Francis also belongs to them. The term of office is three years.

In the two periods of office 2006-2012, as the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the Salesians held the threads in his hand, his Mexican friar, Father Pascual Chavez Villanueva, the ninth since 2002 the ninth Superior General of the Salesians of Don Bosco,  was elected head of Superiors General Conference. Now, as a Jesuit has taken his place on the papal throne, the office of "religious speaker" has been changed to the Jesuits. The Superior General endeavor to maintain good contacts with the Holy See.

The Superior General of the Jesuits is known popularly as the "Black Pope", he is called this because of the black cassock he wears in contrast to the white of the Pope. The name goes back to the often powerful position in the history of the Jesuit Order and because the Superior General of the Jesuits worldwide of 19,000 today like the Pope, is elected for life.

Although Father Nicolas is a Spaniard, he has an experience marked  with an "Asian" religious life behind him. He worked most of the time in Asia, especially Japan.

Among the 29 successors of the Founder and first General Order of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Spanish theologian is the second, who comes from the land of the rising sun. Before him, Father Pedro Arrupe (1907-1991) already had a similar path behind him before he was elected the 29th Superior General in 1965. Father Arrupe was novice master of his order in Hiroshima and witnessed the American atomic bombing of the city. Under his leadership it became the largest order of the Catholic Church, who was known for his iron discipline, through the upheavals that followed the Second Vatican Council, in a serious crisis.

It was a crisis that Pope John Paul II in 1981 led to demand the early resignation of Father Arrupe a say and a choice of a successor. The Dutchman Father Peter Hans Kolvenbach was given the task of regrouping the order again and leading it to calmer waters and more moderate positions. After his resignation in 2008 Father Adolfo Nicolas was appointed as his successor.

The Bishop of Versailles Will Celebrate the Concluding Mass -- 2 Times 100 km: International Pentecost Pilgramage of Tradition Between Paris and Chartres

(Paris) Bishop Marie Eric Aummonier, Bishop of Versailles, is to be the celebrant at the Cathedral of Chartres to the conclusion of this year's International Pentecost Pilgrimage of the Ecclesia Dei communities in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite on Whit Monday. This decision was announced, the organizers of the pilgrimage traditional Association Notre-Dame de Chrétienté. This is another sign that the traditional Catholics are perceived by the bishops of the region of Paris more and more as self-evidently part of the Church and recognized. The prelude was in 2010 by the Archbishop of Paris, Cardinal André Vingt-Trois, with a visit to the pilgrims in the large tent city of the three-day pilgrimage on foot, to be covered in approximately 100 kilometers from Paris to Chartres.

At Pentecost the two largest international traditional pilgrimages will take place at the same time. In addition to the pilgrimage of Fraternity of St. Peter and other Ecclesia Dei communities from Paris to Chartres, another pilgrimage takes place at the same time by the SSPX, which follows the exact opposite way from Chartres to Paris. Both pilgrimages originally go back to the same origin. As when the SSPX came to a break because Rome did not allow episcopal ordinations in 1988 and the Fraternity of St. Peter and the Ecclesia Dei communities emerged, also share the pilgrimage.

The pilgrimage of the Fraternity can use the cathedrals, which is why the Holy Mass is celebrated at the beginning in the cathedral of Paris and the conclusion is at the Cathedral of Chartres. The SSPX are still denied this, which is why Holy Mass is celebrated at the beginning of the pilgrimage outside the Cathedral of Chartres in the open air, as the concluding Mass at Les Invalides in Paris. At these two largest pilgrimages of tradition together, tens of thousands of believers will participate.

Iconoclastic Play Directed at the Mother of God

Edit: when the reviewer here says “iconoclastic” he thinks of it as being something positive.   This is the real war on the woman.  It attempts to portray Mary as a menopausal East Coast liberal.  These sorts of events have been closed down and disrupted in Europe by courageous youth.  Why not in New Jersey?

It was not quite the Blessed Mother I knew. But actress Fiona Shaw’s Mary was blessed in all her humanness on display at the Walter Kerr Theatre where she flawlessly embodied the mother of Jesus in the iconoclastic “The Testament of Mary,” by Irish playwright and author Colm Toibin. 

Her Mary was raw and naked in many ways. And that could explain the protests mounted by the American Society of Tradition, Family and Property on opening night. 

While some sang “Ave Maria,” others held signs that read, “It’s fiction, not truth, but 100 percent blasphemy.” The producers responded in a Playbill online statement, “The Testament of Mary explores in a very serious way, something that matters to all of us. It is neither anti-Mary nor anti-Christianity but a portrait of a very human woman a mother who is trying to make sense of and come to terms with the tragic death of her son.”

Massive Protests Break up Gomorrist Rallies in Georgia

TBILISI (Reuters) - Priests and thousands of other Georgians broke through police barricades and forced gay rights activists to flee on Friday, cutting short their rally to mark the international day against homophobia.

Holding banners saying "Stop Homosexual Propaganda in Georgia!" and "Not in our city!", the demonstrators swarmed into a square in central Tbilisi where about 50 Georgians were rallying in support of gay rights. Police escorted the gay rights supporters onto buses and drove them away to avoid violence.

Several people, including some journalists, received minor injuries, Georgian media said.

"We won't allow these sick people to hold gay parades in our country," said Zhuzhuna Tavadze, brandishing a bunch of nettles and adding that she was ready to fight.
