Extraordinary Jewish Converts Arrested and Sent to Auschwitz

Editor: This is actually part of a series in its last part.

"For the Novitiate of Koningshoeven!“
Trappist in Cloister Koningshoeven

During their deportation to Auschwitz six Loeb-Sisters met Edith Stein as well.  by Anscar Christensen

(kreuz.net) After the Pastoral Protest Letter of the Dutch Bishops against National Socialism in 1942 all Catholics of Jewish descent were arrested in the Netherlands.

Among them they found three sons and three siblings of the Jewish Loeb family. They lived as Trappists in two Dutch Cloisters.

The time of their captivity found the Loebs in a brilliant society: Doctors, Intellectuals, educated Dominicans and a great Carmelite, Sister Benedicta a Cruce Edith Stein.

Because of her strong character, Sister Benedicta was the natural leader of the group of deported Jewish religious. The Holy Office and the Rosary was prayed in common.

Witnesses reported that both Loeb priests comforted them and heard their confessions. The Sisters were brave and helpful -- especially to the children.

We don't know anything more than this. The group was sent to the fearful Camp of Auschwitz in Poland. A National Socialist document soberly reported their birth and day of death: August and September 1942.

It was and unconfirmed report from an anonymous letter after that Fathers Ignatius and Nivardus Loeb together with two Polish and two Greek priests were shot, because they had heard confessions.

Father Nivardus, the former assitant of the novice master, called, before the bullets of the firing squad hit him: "For the Novitiate in Koningshoeven!

Sister Veronika Loeb, who contracted a serious case of tuberculosis during their incarceration, was later sent by the SS to the infamous Concentration Camp Westerbork.

Actually after only eight or ten days they let her free again. Her superior sent her thereafter to various hospitals. Finally she died on August 1944 in the Cloister.

The youngest Loeb-brother, Hans, who had not entered into the Cloister, was in any case arrested and was forced to work in a Polish zinc mine.

As the Soviet Troops neared, he was put on an open truck wagon and transported west. He suffered severe frostbite on his feet and died in February 1945 in an infirmary in Auschwitz.

Paula -- the youngest child of family Loeb -- married in Holland. During the war she was hidden in the house of a courageous Catholic in Nijmagen.

She is the only living member of the extraordinary family Loeb.

A Surprise Candidate Will be the President of the Catholic University of Eichstätt

So that the alleged Catholic University can continue to be mired and never constitute an actual break with Catholicism, the newly chosen must fulfill a service above all:  He must not step on the Old Liberal's feet.

© Pressefoto Universität Eichstätt
(kreuz.net, Eichstätt)  Today the University Boar of the Catholic University of  Eichstätt chose a new president on the third try.

This was according to the University in a press release.

Already in the first ballot, there was a two thirds majority for the weighty Dominican, Fr. Richard Schenk.

Father Schenk comes from the USA. His family wandered from Germany about a hundred years ago to California.

The plain clothes Dominican will take up his office on the first of October.

He will replace the Old Liberal Berlin Moral Theologian Andreas Lob-Hüdepohl (48).

He provisionally directed the University since the summer of 2009.

Lob-Hüdelpohl was also a front running candidate for the election for prisident.

He was held to be the favorite.

The Coffee Machine

Father Schenk studied philosophy in California and Theology in Munich.

There, he received his doctorate from the Conservative Dogmatic Theologian Leo Cardinal Scheffczyk († 2005) with a work about St. Thomas Aquinas, the Jesuit Karl Rahner († 1984)and the Philosopher Martin Heidigger († 1976).

In 1971 he entered the Dominican Province in California.

He was ordained in 1978 to the priesthood.

Since then he has taught history at various faculties.

From 1991 to 2000 he served as director for the „Forschungsinstituts für Philosophie Hannover“ founded by Bishop von Hildesheim in 1988.

From 1999 to 2003 he was the Regent of Studies for the Western Province of the US Dominicans.

From 2003- 2005 he was the Director of the interreligious "Intercultural Forum for Studies in Faith and Culture" at the John Paull II in Washington D.C.

In addition, Father Schenk has been a member since 1991 of the "European Academy of Arts and Sciences" in Salzburg.

For the question about what he wanted to do on his first day, Father said: "Order my espresso machine".

As per the German ‘Katholischen Nachrichtenagentur’, the plain clothes Dominican will make the Uniersity "more international, ecumenical and interreligious".

On the other site, Father is deemed as intelligent, faithful, but in liturgical things, indifferent.

It is therefore to be doubted that the decadent University can be set on a course of reform.

Father Fessio Being Accused by "SNAP" of Covering up for Homosexual Predator

Editor: Back in the 1960s, Father McGuire has long been credibly accused of having molested two boys.  For over 36 [even 50?] years since then, the Jesuits have been covering up for him, destroying records, despite the fact that he was continuing this evil behavior. NPR covered this, conveniently, back in 2006.

[NPR] The first signs of trouble surfaced in 1969, in a case that would eventually result in McGuire's criminal conviction. A 14-year old freshman at Loyola Academy, a high school near Chicago, met Father McGuire when the young priest was assigned to be his counselor. McGuire soon persuaded the teenager and his father to let him board at the school. McGuire said the boy would sleep in a nearby room. But McGuire immediately moved the boy to his own room and "then the abuse turned physical," according to the victim, now 51 years old.
"There's only one bed inside the room, so sleeping quarters were to sleep in the same bed together," the man said in a phone interview.
As recently as 2005, the Jesuits said they had no knowledge of this. But documents suggest they did. The boy had told his parish priest about the abuse. The priest wrote the Jesuits running the school in November 1969, and Pearlman has a copy of that letter. The said the Jesuits told him they would take care of McGuire. They put McGuire on sabbatical, and he did not return to the school. But three years later, the then-teenager realized they had not done enough.
"I was walking down one of the lanes at Loyola University," he told NPR, "and ran smack dab into Father McGuire toting a little boy with him, in the ages of like 13 to 14 years old."

Now, it is being alleged that not only the Jesuits, but the famed Father Fessio knew about this as well, while McGuire gave classes at the Ignatius Institute in San Francisco.  The SNAP press release insists that Father Fessio knew about the priest's crimes but did not report it to police.  SNAP is an overzealous professional victim's organization, but the Jesuit's are infamous for their capacity to ignore reality in this wise, and permit homosexuals to work in their ranks even when they're sexually active:  one might even say, especially.

McGuire worked at USF from 1976 to 1981 where he taught within the St. Ignatius Institute, a conservative liberal arts program run by Fr. Joseph Fessio. Fessio is the US publisher for all of Pope Benedict’s writing (including Benedict's latest book, Light of the World). According to court and public documents, Fessio knew about McGuire's crimes, but never told law enforcement.

We've always been skeptical of Father Fessio.  He was promoting Cardinal Schoenborn's books and defended the Danube Prelate when he was defending his decision to allow the blasphemous homosexual art of Hrdlika not only at the Vienna Cathedral Museum, but also in the St. Barbara Chapel itself.  Hrdlika was even given a burial on consecrated ground with a momento of his "art" as a gravestone to a choir singing Communist hymns.

Cardinal Lehman Refuses "Non-Sense" Request for Confirmatinon in Old Mass

German cardinal rejects 'nonsense' request for Confirmation in extraordinary form

Editor: the chance to have him retire has come and gone.  He has some health problems but Germany could be stuck with him for another five or six years.

Catholic World News
May 26, 2011

A German cardinal has said that it is "nonsense" for Catholics to seek Confirmation in the traditional rite. He's one of the worst Cardinals we've ever had.

Cardinal Karl Lehmann on Mainz, the former president of the German bishops' conference, said that he is following the directions of Pope Benedict XVI, and making the extraordinary form available to the faithful in his archdiocese in "5 or 6" churches. But he indicated that he thought Catholics were going too far when they asked to use the traditional liturgy for Confirmation. "I will not do it," he said bluntly.

Vatican Says Condom Campaigns Increase AIDS Risk

Editor: Can the utter and immoral cruelty of the modern world be darker than that of the old, or like a mirror can we look to the past and see things clearly as if for the first time, the things we've always really known? Herod imprisoned St. John the Baptist because the Baptist courageously preached against the King's adultery. The Church preaches against the infidelity, the moral failure of the world, and the result will likely be the same.

Vatican newspaper article says condom campaigns increase AIDS risk
By John Thavis
Catholic News Service

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- An article in the Vatican newspaper said that, on a practical level, condom campaigns increase the possibility of AIDS infection by promoting a false sense of security.

On a moral level, the article said, condom use by married couples goes against the church's teaching about responsible procreation because it "deforms" the conjugal act.

The article was written by Father Juan Perez-Soba, a moral theologian who teaches in Rome at the John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and the Family. It appeared in L'Osservatore Romano May 24, three days before the start of a major Vatican conference that was expected to clarify church teaching on AIDS.

Will Saint Paul's Writings Be Removed From the Bible by the Socialist USCCB?

Editor: Soft Marxism continues its iron-clad rule over the Catholic Church in America as the non-authoritative and feminized Socialist pressure group, the USCCB, declares the Bible to be erroneous and outside of the Catholic Church, and if you hold what's in the Bible, you're outside of It too. This is from Micheal Hoffman's blog:

The Excommunication of St. Paul the Apostle by the Inmates of the Asylum known as the Post-Conciliar Roman Catholic Church

By Michael Hoffman • www.revisionisthistory.org

Catholics "cannot hold" to St. Paul's declaration in 1 Thessalonians 2: 14-16 "without falling out of communion with the Catholic Church"

For you, brethren, are become followers of the churches of God which are in Judea, in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered the same things from your own countrymen, even as they have from the Jews, Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the prophets, and have persecuted us, and please not God, and are adversaries to all men...

Old Mass: Some Will Force Hand Communion

Editor: Kreuz.net refers to hand Communion as being sacrilegious, we don't.

As expected the German Bishops are attempting to construe the generous allowance for the Old Mass with "arbitrarily and restrictively".

(kreuz.net) "Even in the community there have been those set apart, because faithful -- who apparently have come with the purpose -- to force communion in the hand on the Old Rite."

This is according to the famous Paster Henrick Jolie from the Diocese of Mainz on the 20th of May in an interview with the German website 'katholisches.info'.

The horror of Communion in the Hand at the Old Mass

Fr. Jolie would have liked that the Pope would have introduced the question of hand Communion in the recent instruction on the Motu Proprio 'Summorum Pntificum'.

Because: "There are Diocese in which hand Communion is given at the Old Mass".

Individual Bishops had even instructed their priests -- in contravention to the Liturgical norms--, not to refuse the sacrilegious communion in the hand.

Bishops react with Arbitrariness

Fr. Jolie is pleased that the Instruction insisted that the stable groups, which can request the Old Mass, don't have to come from the same Diocese or Parish.

That is for him an indirect criticism on diverse Diocesan "implementation regulations", which have been published in the wake of 'Summorum Pontificum':

"Here is where completely arbitrary restrictions are decreed."

They have attempted to define "narrowly and as expected, restrictively" the size or the composition of these groups of believers.

There's no relying on Rome

Fr. Jolie views has skepticism that the faithful have been offered the possibility of appealing their right with respect to the Old Mass to Rome:

"We know, how the Roman Community have dealt with the court of appeals over liturgical abuses."

Because: "The Canons have changed nothing."

President of Italian Bishops Calls for A Return of the Radiance of the Mass

Editor: Stunning.

The President of the Italian Bishops Conference urges unity with the World Church and the Pope.

Rome (kath.net/as)The bishops of Italy are concerned about the complete translation of the Instruction "Universae Ecclesiae" for the correct use of the Motu Proprio "Summorum Pontificum". This was confirmed by the President of the Italian Bishops Conference (CEI) Angelo Cardinal Bagnasco on 23. May 2011 in his address with which he spoke to the 63 fully assembled Bishops Conference.

The Cardinal called to mind the intention of both documents. These aimed to a "obligatory and harmonious recovery of the entire Liturgical heritage of the Universal Church in every single Diocese". This is so the Church may not be wounded by a fissure between individual local churches and the Universal Church, says Bagnasco.

For this reason the power must "be united and give the Liturgy back its powerful radiance".

The Mass of All Ages Will Outlast Newer Rites

The Pastor's Corner column on Dici makes common cause with Cardinal Koch about the Mass. Eventually one Mass will disappear. Perhaps it will be as Cardinal Ranjith envisions, the more ancient Missal of All Ages?

“Benedict XVI knows well that in the long term we cannot remain with a coexistence between the ordinary and extraordinary forms in the Roman rite, but that the Church will again need in the future a common rite... However, given that a new liturgical form cannot be decided in an office, as it requires a process of growth and purification, for the time being the Pope stresses above all that the two forms of use of the Roman rite can and must enrich one another mutually.” (Ibid.) According to Cardinal Koch, Rome’s permission of a Mass that needs no permission would be that it might ultimately disappear!

Satanic Graffiti Found on St. Paul Cathedral

Editor: Once upon a time churches throughout the Western world were open, often all night long, no matter where you were. You could often find in the late hours, the succour of the confessional and the peaceful glow of flickering beeswax candles under the watchful gaze of Christ, His Mother and the Saints.

Truly, it's difficult to say that the late Twentieth Century's been much of an improvement, the hearts of men have grown colder and more brutal in the encroaching darkness of this age.

Are the police considering this a "hate crime"? It would be embarrassing to invoke such things as the Archbishop or his staff.

[KMSP, Minneapolis-St. Paul] The graffiti is gone, but the questions remain after satanic symbols were found on the Cathedral of St. Paul over the weekend.

Police say someone spray-painted white upside down crosses on five of the six main doors to the church off of Summit Avenue.

The incident occurred sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning.

Police are continuing to investigate.

A Word About Kreuz.net and How Swiss Bishops Imply the Archbishop of Cologne is a Homosexual

Editor: The inveterate and ever steady Tom at AQ has posted the story we translated about how David Berger, a liar and a poseur who's accused the Holy Father of having homosexual tendencies, has been given free run to heap his filth on the Church through the mouthpiece of the Swiss Bishops. How the man conducting the interview who has such a clear allegiance to the Homosexual agenda, enough to give softball questions to Berger and support his agenda, could be a part of what goes on at a Catholic News Service run by the Swiss Bishops is anybody's guess, but will the Bishops make amends for this? The News Service is their bailliwick and what happens there is THEIR responsibility, especially when a known liar and slanderer uses that service to spread his lies and promote his books.

Let's file the following under, "homosexual bullying" for the time being. It's interesting the way the following poster wants to deflect LEGITIMATE criticism away from the Swiss Bishops by accusing kreuz.net of dishonesty and being "obsessed" with homosexuality. It's the self-same tactic employed by Berger and his co-religionists:

Swiss bishops do NOT [Their tacit approval is very much in evidence here] insinuate anything like this, but the website KREUZ.NET which is pornographic in most of it's contents is insinuating that Swiss bishops insinuate.......
I would never allow my children (who are teens) to surf on kreuz.net, not for not wanting them to know about catholic tradition, but because the editorial staff of kreuz.net is obsessed with homosexuality and the users of that forum are commenting in the most vulgar and obscene language possible describing all sorts of homosexual perversions. Kreuz.net is not to recommend and I really wonder who is behind this platform. You can find there also serious and good information, but the way it is presented to the public is very strange. A normal, good hearted and pious traditional catholic needs much holiness to not to have go to confession after having used kreuz.net. I have never understood the mechanisms behind it, even if I use it quite often, as I have to confess.

Yes, try not to confuse kreuz.net with what's going on under your own nose in your own Church.

Pope Names New Eparch for Armenian Catholics in Canada and US

Editor: An Eparch is a Bishop who rules a particular territory, like a Diocese or an Eparchy. Armenia is the eldest daughter of the Church, the first Land to embrace Catholicism back in the two hundreds, even before the St. Constantine the Great's Edict of Toleration. They say Mass differently but share the Catholic Faith whole and entire.

WASHINGTON — Pope Benedict XVI has named Archpriest Mikaël Mouradian, superior of the Convent of Notre Dame in Bzommar, Lebanon, as the new bishop of the Eparchy of Our Lady of Nareg in New York for Armenian Catholics.

The appointment of Lebanon-born Bishop Mouradian was publicized in Washington, May 21, by Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.

Bishop-designate Mouradian, who succeeds Bishop Manuel Batakian, 81, is a member of the Lebanon-based Institute of the Patriarchal Clergy of Bzommar. Among positions he has held is head of Caritas Armenia.

The New York-based eparchate includes about 25,000 people in the United States and 10,000 in Canada. The largest communities are in Los Angeles and Montreal.

The Salesians In Rome Are Talking About Punishing Dutch Salesians Over Legalization of Pederasty Remark

UPDATE: We were told that the Salesians have relieved both men from their positions as of 17:45 GMT.

Editor: what a terrible breach of trust that not only one of the rank and file, but the leadership itself is thoroughly corrupt, shiftless and morally numb. It's even more horrifying when you realize that the order of Dom Bosco has a mission to care for young boys and educate them. At least someone in Rome has a moral sense. Frankly, this is why the Inquisition should be restored. Such shameless monsters should be hurried to trial and given punishments all the way up to death, for their heresy and perfidity. This should put the Inquisition in proper perspective for those who still believe the Black Legend.

Incidentally, this is something which the left has long been promoting both in Europe and the United States, here. It just might be that people might not want to have to travel to far away places to enjoy forbidden pleasures.

Disciplinary measures urged against Dutch Priest, who has suggested the liberalization and decriminalization of Pedophilia.

Rome-Utrecht (kath.net/KAP)The Salesian Order has decided to distance themselves because of the statements and demeanor of a Dutch colleague's statements on the subject of pedophilia. The Order's Headquarters has strenuously condemned the deportment of Father B and suggest disciplinary measures, it was said in a statement on Monday.

The 73 year old religious has outed himself as a member of the militant organization "Martijn" for the liberalization and decriminalization of pedophiles. The Roman Headquarters of the Order criticized the statements of the Dutch Salesian Superior, P. Herman Spronck, who referred with sympathy for the behavior of Fr. B and said "certain relationships are not necessarily punishable".

Members of such organizations as Father B. is, are "absolutely unacceptable" with the principles, values and traditions of the Salesians, the General Procurator of the Order, P. Francesco Maraccani, was heard to say.in a signed statement. The Congregation has distanced itself from the conduct of a single colleague. You complain that with this announcement that we've injured a lot of people: "WE understand the pain and offer our apology in the name of the Order of Dom Bosco".

The Salesian Order will stay true to the pedagogical tradition of Don Bosco and to the teaching office of the Church, it said in the text. "The complete and total respect toward children, adolescetns and youth remain for us a fundamental and unalterable position", said the Order's Administration.

Spain's ruling Socialists have been hit with defeat in municipal and regional elections, amid voter discontent over high unemployment and economic stagnation.

With almost all of the May 22 vote counted, results showed the opposition conservative Popular Party winning more than 37 percent of the overall vote, against nearly 28 percent for Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero's Socialists.

The results show the Popular Party heading to victory in the 13 regional government elections that were contested.

Vatican Objects to Ugly John Paul II Statue

Editor: Most people, including the Vatican, think this thing is ugly.  Finally, someone who can make a decision who has some sense.  Most of the time, such ugly public works of arts are forced upon the population.  Perhaps most taxpayers are too afraid of being called uncultured for calling ugly things ugly?  One Italian lady observes that the "art" may be used by the homeless to sleep in and it will be full of beer cans in no time.

Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno, asked by APTN in an exclusive interview in his office if the city might take down the statue, said public opinion would be considered.

"There's an ancient saying: 'Vox populi, vox dei' (Latin for voice of the people, voice of God)," Alemanno said. "And from this point of view we cannot help but take into consideration the opinion of the public."

"And if public opinion consolidates around a negative opinion, we'll have to take that into consideration," the mayor said.

Swiss Bishops Insintuate that the Cardinal of Cologne is a Homosexual

Editor: This is from this last Friday. Of course, some will remember the continuing saga of David Berger and his insinuations about the Holy Father and Traditional Catholics. Now he's lashing out with malice and apparently, the Swiss Bishops' mouthpiece is giving him a court of approval to air his hate for the Church. The article follows:

He covers the Church with homosexual filth and waltzes with himself in self-love.  The Old Liberal official Church and the decadent Bishops named by John Paul II  are serving him with a homosexual court of approval.

(kreuz.net, Zürich) Incredibly, the Swiss Bishops are offering the German homosexual and enemy of the Church, David Berger, a forum for his tirades and lies.

The scene of the crime was a video interview with the official Church website, 'kath.ch'.

The homepage describes itself -- without any contradiction of the Swiss Bishops -- as "the internet site of the Roman Catholic Church in German Switzerland.".

The Website is operated by an opaque "Catholic Media Service" in Zürich.

For that reason, it will never give a critical Journalistic treatment of the theme of homosexuality.

And still with the old lies

Berger, full of self-adulation, portrays himself as the victim of the scene.

Without cross-examination, he retold his lie that he wasn't the one who had brought his immoral life to public attention.

In reality Berger's immoral homosexual lifestyle alteration was discovered for the first time by Kreuz.net in May of Mai 2007.

His neo-Conservative friends stood by him for another long three years, till his Gommorrism was finally too much even for the periodical 'Theologisches'.

Berger was an author with them at that point.

The publisher of the publication was forced in the face of ever newer revelations to withdraw his position.

Berger presents this indeed as a "voluntary separation" .

He had supposedly had broken the "taboo" of a "conspiracy of silence" in the Church, said the notorious liar, in which he portrayed himself in his shameless homosexual life as the hero.

Naturally, he employs the tired old homo-schtick, to portray every critic of homosexuality as one who is homosexually disturbed.

The Video by 'kath.ch' -- which is the last word for the Swiss Bishops -- superimposed a photo of Joachim Cardinal Meisner of Cologne.

In this infamous way, the Cardinal is insinuated into a degenerate morality.

Stupid Homosexual Propaganda

Berger has to admit that he didn't lose his license to teach because of his wormlike existence.

A letter by Cardinal Meisner only generally indicated that he had "over-strenuously criticized" the Church and had led his life in an irreconcilable way.

The tedious website 'kath.ch' tried to downplay Berger's decadent life with the formulation that he "lives with his partner".

Prayerfully and with folded hands

Bergers hatred for the Church became increasingly uncontrolled during the softball Interview.

To the question if he planned on taking recourse against the decision of the Cardinal within the Church he was quick to say:

"I'm not going to pursue it" -- and:

"I have too much honor to have anything to do with the faux legality of Church law."

The court of approval put the question to the homosexually disturbed if he will ever work again as a religious instructor.

Berger: "Perhaps we will receive at some time after the current Pope, one who publicly says: "I'm a homosexual mysef and that's good so -- even if I don't act on it."

Then Berger proceeded to hack down: "If celibacy is abolished, he can move into the Vatican with his husband."

And: "In case that happens, which naturally no one really believes in the Church, then I think I have a good expectation that I can teach again".

As he continued, Berger droned on with the famous palette of the homosexual's nursery rhyme.

The anonymous homosexual interviewer from 'kath.ch' nodded thoughtfully and folded his hands.

Socialist Sweden More Dangerous for Children than Catholic Church

Editor: Andrew Brown at the Guardian is offering his analysis of the American Catholic Bishops' report on sex crimes.  First of all, in contrast to Brown, it seems pretty clear that the moral permissiveness and relativism promoted during the "sexual revolution" had something to do with this.  When sick individuals like Allen Ginsberg were pursuing adolescents, the thing was glossed over, since geniuses aren't held to the same standards as the lower classes. But what if Socialist Sweden is more dangerous to children than the Catholic Church?  A lot of people won't believe you, but here are the figures in case anyone is interested in the injustice of this hoax and how it's been manipulated by the Media-Entertainment complex.

[Guardian] For comparison, the Swedish figures for reported sex crimes against all children under 15 was 142/100,000 children in 1992, and 169/100,000 in 2001.

These figures suggest that during the 1990s a child in Sweden, possibly the most secularised country in Europe, was between 10 and 30 times more likely to be sexually assaulted than an American Catholic was by his priest. Even making allowances for the considerable margin of error that must be built into these figures, it's clear that what went on in US Catholic churches was terrible but rather less terrible than what went on at the same time in many other places where Catholicism was not involved. If the US Catholic church is a hotbed of child rape, Sweden is an awful lot worse. (Just to be clear here, I think the idea that Sweden is a dangerous country for children is entirely absurd.)

I picked Sweden for comparison largely because I know my way round the crime statistics there. But the US government figures quoted in the John Jay report show also that Alaska has a rate of reported child abuse that dwarfs Sweden's – 788/100,000 in 2001, or 140 times the incidence of reported child abuse in the US Catholic church at the same period. So there is nothing uniquely rotten about the American Catholic church.

Resistance to Instruction On the Way: Archbishop Nichols Looking for Loopholes

The problem is real: one must keep the Diocesan Seminarians in the dark about the Old Mass.  Otherwise, they won't be fobbed off with the desacralized ceremonies of the Novus Ordo.

Archbishop Nichols in Westminster in London

(kreuz.net, London) The Old Liberal Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Westminster in London has expressed his opposition to the instruction 'Universae Ecclesia' over the management of the Old Mass. This was according to the British weekly magazine, 'Catholic Weekly'.

The fear is understandable

Msgr Nichols commented about the demand made by the Instruction, where Seminarians must be instructed with the Old Mass.

The Archbishop stoled a march on the wishy-washy formulation of the Instruction, which identified, the bloviation of "pastoral considerations"

21. Ordinaries are asked to offer their clergy the possibility of acquiring adequate preparation for celebrations in the forma extraordinaria. This applies also to Seminaries, where future priests should be given proper formation, including study of Latin8 and, where pastoral needs suggest it, the opportunity to learn the forma extraordinaria of the Roman Rite.

From this he concluded that the expressions concerning this instruction are "provisional" and "not absolute".

His conclusion: "Personally I don't beleive that the already full seminary programme should be added to."

It follows a notion that there is the possibility to learn the Old Mass later in the priestly life.

The Archbishop's fear of the Old Mass is understandable.

In the Seminaries there is a dangerous concurrence that the banal rites of the Novus Ordo will suffer from.

Why doesn't the Vatican Speak Clearly?

Number 21 of the Instruction about the Old Mass is more precisely formulated in the Latin than it is in the English version.

The Latin original original text orders the Bishops with the adverb 'enixe" -- or seriously, to educate their seminarians in the Old Rite.

„21 – Ordinarii enixe rogantur ut clericis instituendis occasionem praebeant accommodatam artem celebrandi in forma extraordinaria acquirendi, quod potissimum pro Seminariis valet, in quibus providebitur ut sacrorum alumni convenienter instituantur, Latinum discendo sermonem et, adiunctis id postulantibus, ipsam Ritus Romani formam extraordinariam.“

This Adverb in the English or German translation is simply omitted.

Is there a Need?

Msgr Nichols mentioned moreover, that the Archdiocese of Westminster have asked their priests if they want to learn the Old Mass.

"Many" would have announced themselves.

That's how he has discovered the "need" for the Old Mass in his Archdiocese.

Mel Gibson Forges Ahead to Make Viking Film: Life Goes On

Editor: it's funny how all the pommies are freaking out about the "historical inaccuracies" of Gibson's Brave-heart.   Gibson has surely become a kind of local ogre for the politically and morally obscure, but that's another thing entirely.  Of course, it's a sure bet that these parsimonious quibblers don't find the same fault with Jackson's Lord of the Rings for getting that completely and utterly wrong, anyway.  Check out the moaning and groaning going on in the comments.  Still looking forward to a film about Lepanto or Vienna Wood, and another religious classic, perhaps something uplifting about the Holodomor.

[The Daily Fail] He may have faced criticism for his interpretation of William Wallace's battle for Scottish independence in Braveheart, but that hasn't deterred Mel Gibson from producing another history-based movie.
This time the actor is planning to turn his directorial skills towards the Viking invasion of England and Scotland in the ninth century.

Hippie Pastor Makes Mild Remarks in Minnesota House: Gutless Minnesota Politicians Slither

Editor: The anti-Catholic hate sheet, The Minneapolis Star and Tribune, is attacking a strange and anarchistic looking Protestant Minister, Pastor Bradlee Dean, for a fairly mild message.  In fact, it caused many in the house to lash out with their hate-filed Christophobic bullying, some lazily, indolently comparing him to Hitler and others simpering about what they felt was "hateful".  It just goes to show you that you really can't make concessions to these people, you have to fight them and confront them without fear in your heart.  If you make concessions to the stupidity and error of their position, they will never be pleasee, rather like the anguished souls of the damned in Hell, they will grasp at you to pull you down. Well, this Protestant minister made a very mild statement in the midst of a "controversial" decision to vote on a bill defending "traditional" Marriage.  It's hard to see what's so offensive about what he actually said, unless the members are just objecting to things he's said outside of his speech.  Actually, his argument is a fairly decent argument, which summarizes a quote from the great African Saint Cyprian in his discussion about the people who purchased a Company from the owner and then got the owner fired from his own company.  Actually, it didn't just happen in 2008, it happened in 1775 and it happened at the eve of the Protestant Revolt and it happened every time that the Jews were unfaithful to God Almighty in the times of old.

No one can have God for his. Father, who does not have the Church for his mother
That being said, we acknowledge in a truly ecumenical way, the patriotism and the piety of this strange hippyesque and radical speaker and the basic truth and goodness of his message.
This situation happens in light of the Pro-Homosexual Representative from South St. Paul who attacked a Catholic priest recently without provocation in the most unreasonable way.

Iraq: Catholic Family Man Murdered

Editor: Catholics were in Iraq long before the Muslims. Don't forget that, at least.

Kirkuk (www.kath.net/ idea) In Northern Iraq a 29 year old Christian was murdered.  The body of the family father with three children Ashur Issa Yaqub was found on May 16th by Police in Kirkuk.  As the aid organization Open Doors (Kelkheim bei Frankfurt am Main) reported, his body revealed signs of torture and bite wounds. Hands and arms were tied and the head had been completely removed.

According to reports of a local pastor, members of the terror network Al Kheda pressured his employer to dismiss the construction worker \because he was Christian.  Yaqub, who belongs to the Chaldean Catholic Community, was abducted.  Al Kaida fighters demanded a ransom of about 70.000 Euro for his release.  According to estimate by Open Doors, which cares for Christians persecuted and oppressed world wide, the situation in Iraq has significantly worsened.

Christians have lived almost 2.000 years in Iraq.  In the mean time their numbers have been decimated because many of the attacks of Islamic "extremists" happen to them.  1990 figures show that around 29 million inhabitants and 1,4 million Christians were present, now there are about 200.000.

Berlin's Homosexual Mayor Wants to Lecture Pope Benedict on "Morality"

Editor: You go girl.

The homosexually disturbed talks of "morality"

Germany. The Berlin Mayor, Comrade Klaus Wowereit (SPD), is hoping for a debate about "social image" and "moral positions" of the Church during the visit from Pope Benedict XVI. This is from the website 'theeuropean.de'. Each part of of natural law which doesn't meet with his approval, he calls "antiquated". The Catholics therefore should "tidy up". As an example he described the Church's criticism of contraception, which has turned entire lands into elder hostels. The homo-disturbed is also expecting yet "another adjustment" in the Church to sodomy, which according to the testimony of holy writ, cries to heaven for vengeance.

And yet:

All University Professors are Child Molestors

Austria. A -- naturally unnamed -- Graz University Professor (45) has been charged because of child pornography. This is what the anti-Church 'Österreichische Rundfunk' -- which is descended from the National Socialist ‘Reichssender Wien’. The judgement: a limited sentence of four months and 8.000 Euro fine. Since 1999 the perpetrator collected photos of naked children and films of child rapes and saved them on his computer. While on vacation he photographed naked children on the beech. The police found 50.000 child pornographic data matches on his computer. The professor is "presently" suspended.

Coptic Bishop Warns against the Persecution of Christians in Germany

Bishop Damian -- the General of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Germany -- had an interview with the website '.com' in which he warned of a persecution in Germany: "There is a great danger that given the dominance of the influence of Islam in Germany that Christians will be seriously endangered." The suffering of Egyptian Christians could also be the suffering of the Christians in Germany, if German Society does not undergo a substantial change. The party president of the leading Christian-hate-party 'Greens', Comrade Cem Özdemir, is a Muslim.

Old Liberal Bishop Thinks Germany is Progressive

Germany.  The Old Liberal Bishop, Gerard Fürst (62)of Rottenburg-Stuttgart explained to the 'Ludwigsburger Kreiszeitung', that married priests aren't just being considered in the Catholic Cosmos of progressive countries like Germany or the USA.

The "progress" described by Msgr Fürst in the aforementioned lands are also imbued with an unprecedented ecclesiastical decadence.

Islamization a Major Issue in Bulgarian Politics Today: Unrest

H/t: Fisheaters

Father Pfleger Declares Victory over Cardinal George

Editor: He's declaring victory on his FB Page. He can now return to St. Sabina's to make the same inflammatory statements, perpetrate Liturgical abuses and lead his flock to Hell. Cultural Marxism is indeed a powerful thing.

The heretical pastor was prepared to leave the Catholic Church at one point and considering his boss' strong statement, it's easy to see that a significant turn around was made without Pfleger making any recantations at all:
The cardinal ended the letter by saying, "This conflict is not between you and me; it's between you and the Church that ordained you a priest, between you and the faith that introduced you to Christ and gives you the right to preach and pastor in his name. If you now formally leave the Catholic Church and her priesthood, it's your choice and no one else's. You are not a victim of anyone or anything other than your own statements."

So much for those hard words. Pfleger now says:

Thank you to all who prayed and stood with me in the FIRE, God is so FAITHFUL. I am grateful to friends and stangers [sic] who lifted St. Sabina and Myself before the Throne of God! Although we have very HOT days and very COLD days we neither BURN nor FREEZE, because God is in CONTROL, so it is with life. No matter how it looks or feels GOD is in control and will not let life Destroy us! To GOD be the GLORY!!!

Here's the article from the local Chicago paper:

Ending a weeks-long standoff, Cardinal Francis George lifted his suspension of the Rev. Michael Pfleger on Friday after the two men met and Pfleger apologized for statements the cardinal took as a threat to leave the priesthood.

Both men issued simultaneous statements, with Pfleger saying he would deliver a transition plan by Dec. 1 for St. Sabina Catholic Church, the South Side parish he has served for nearly 30 years.

But neither statement clarified how long Pfleger might remain at the parish. For now, he'll be back in the pulpit for the 11:15 a.m. Mass on Sunday.

De Ecclesia Militante by Chris Wells

Editor: Don't forget to support the pious work of Chris Wells on his Pius Blog. He writes:

Saint Robert Bellarmine - De Ecclesia Militante
Today I'm beginning to post St. Robert Bellarmine's classic work, De Ecclesia Militante. Despite its importance to the study of ecclesiology, to the best of my knowledge there is no English version available. I will be posting a (very rough) English translation, with the Latin text following in a later post. I hope that by making this text available on the internet, it will prompt other students to rediscover Bellarmine's theology.

Chapter One
About the Name of the Church

(1) The controversy about the Church militant has many parts. For she is first considered as she is in herself; then about her members, that is, about clerics, about monks, about laity. But returning to the Church considered according to herself, about which we now start to dispute, there are esEpecially three controversies. The first is about the name and definition of ‘Church.’ The second, about the quality or about the visibility of the same. The third, about the notes, by which she is able to be known certainly.

Phillippine Bishops Support SSPX Rosary Crusade

Edit: Father Albert Ghela of the SSPX in the Philippines receives a kind of endorsement from the Church there. Let's hope this kind of collaboration continues with benefit for everyone, including the sheep.
Here in the Philippines the SSPX organised a 1 Million Rosary Crusade for the Defense of God's Law on Life and Family. This Rosary Crusade is supported and endorsed by the Philippine Episcopal Commission on Family Life (CBCP). President Aquino accepted $500 million in aid from the USA that had the "Family Planning" strings attached and now the Catholic Church is the only force to truly oppose him. It is heartwarming to see the local Bishops here in the Philippines supporting the SSPX, under the banner of Our Blessed Mother, in the defense of life. St. Lorenzo Ruiz, Archbishop Lefebvre and Bishop Lazo, pray for us!

In this first video Fr. Onoda, rector of the SSPX's Our Lady of Victories Church in Manila, hosts Archbishop Paciano Aniceto who is the chairman of the Philippine Episcopal Commission on Family Life (CBCP).

In this second video Fr. Albert Ghela SSPX, hosts Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Archbishop of Cebu.

The Immemorial Mass is a Duty: Swiss Bishop Promotes Mass of All Ages

Switzerland [May 16, Kreuz] Bishop Vitus Huonder met with about 60 priests at the Benedictine Cloister of Einsiedeln. The Vienese Psychiatrist and Opus Dei Numerary, Raphael Bonelli gave a talk about celibacy. In his preaching, Msgr Huonder spoke about the Instruction 'Universae Ecclesiae'. The Bishop encouraged the priests to follow the Instruction. He stressed especially the right of the Traditionalists for the Old Mass. Every Bishop has been bound by the Pope, to support the desire for the Old Mass -- Msgr Huonder said.

More Mistaken Notions About the Rome Conferences with the SSPX

Editor: There's a lot more docility on the part of the SSPX to what the Vatican says it wants; but William Oddie says that he's a Papal Loyalist, understandably so for the SSPX has shown time and time again that it has been more loyal to the Holy Father than the men who are supposed to be in union with him. Incredibly, he talks about the mainstream Catholic. Actually, if the numbers on birth control and actual knowledge of the average layman to be believed, most Catholics are not Papal Loyalists. They don't either believe or understand most Catholic doctrine, and they don't practice what the Catholic Church teaches by and large. On the other hand, it's your SSPX types who are on board with the Pope on Birth Control, Homosexuality, the Hierarchy and a host of other issues.

I suppose the Guardian just hopes to portray the Traditionalist position as ridiculous, but William Oddie's expectations and explanations really fly in the face of reality when he writes the following:

Well, I can’t say I’m neutral between the two points of view, definitely tending towards being a “papal loyalist” (despite some discomfort over Assisi, I think it’s just about defensible), though how high-minded you need to be to hold such views I’m not sure: it seems to me it’s a perfectly normal for a mainstream Catholic to be loyal to the pope. [Hmmm...you'd think...]

The real question is whether there was ever any realistic prospect that there might be any kind of rapprochement. Rome’s view is that the SSPX can be as critical as it likes about the distortions of Vatican II – what Pope Benedict calls “the hermeneutic of discontinuity and rupture” – but in the end it has to accept the essential Catholicity of the Council itself. This seems to me entirely reasonable. SSPX actually demands that Rome should repudiate the Council and accept that the Mass of Paul VI is invalid, even Protestant.

UK: Ritual Slaughter of Goats in Devon Has Frightened Local People

Editor: It's frightening to think that someone should be so cruel to a poor, harmless goat. Goats are sweet, gentle animals and to think that someone would do the kinds of things to them that are happening here, is more than a little disturbing. It's understandable that the local people are overwrought about this.

When things like this happen, it's understandable how ordinary people can justifiably have concerns about Satanism. Whether or not this constitutes some form of Satanic ritual or not, it looks to be more likely the result of adolescents who listen to Satanic Rock N' Roll.

It would be a blessing if they were caught and punished, because it's even more disturbing to think that the people who are doing this are free and liable to turn up just about anywhere.

[The Daily Mail] Four goats have been cruelly slaughtered in a village, raising fears of ‘satanic rituals’.

The animals were killed within a few days of each other, either with their heads twisted backwards or their throats cut.

The horned goat is a symbol in the occult, intended to mock the image of Jesus as the ‘lamb’ who died for Man’s sins, after a reference in the Bible to the obedient sheep being separated from the unruly, non-believing goats.

Boston Archdiocesan Official Supports Obama Extravaganza

Editor: Despite there being a prohibition that Personnel working for the Archdiocese adhere to and defer to the teaching of the Church, a Diocesan official who's helping to organize a campaign being sponsored by the pro-abortion, Marxist, President of the United States.

[Boston Catholic Insider] There is no question that the moral tradition of the Catholic Church opposes abortion–as do certain applicable Archdiocesan Affiliated organizations–and there is little doubt that President Obama is pro-abortion (see “Obama recalls Roe v. Wade, backs abortion rights“ and “Barack Obama on Abortion“).

So, can Jack, through his public and private actions, serve as chair of Partners Healthcare (one of the largest abortion providers in the state), raise money for pro-abortion politicians such as President Obama, endorse them, lead faithful Catholics and others to vote for them, and presumably vote for them himself, while also somehow promoting the welfare of the Archdiocese and each applicable Archdiocesan Affiliated Organization and exemplifying the moral traditions of the Church?

As we all know, Cardinal Sean O’Malley, in a 2007 interview with the Boston Globe, acknowledged that Catholic voters in Massachusetts generally support Democratic candidates who are in favor of abortion rights, said, “I think that, at times, it borders on scandal as far as I’m concerned.”

So how does Jack’s very public support for candidates who favor abortion rights reconcile with Church moral teachings, the Code of Conduct policy and the Cardinal’s own belief that it borders on scandal?

Bishop Fellay of SSPX Has Mixed Reactions about Clarification: Sees no Reconcilation Short Term

Editor: The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Clarity is not the Charism of the Conciliar Church

The General Superior of the Society of Pius X has made it clear that a reconciliation with the Vatican is not foreseeable "in the short term".

(kreuz.net, Stuttgart)  The instruction 'Universae Ecclesiae' has affirmed the importance of the Old Mass for the whole Church.

Bishop Bernard Fellay -- the General Superior of the Society of St. Pius X -- said this in a German video interview with the website 'pius.info'.

This occured on Tuesday at during a visit by Msgr Fellay in Stuttgart.

The Bishop was leased that Bishops and Priests will be permited to offer the Old Rite.

At the same time Msgr Fellay sees shadows in the Instruction.

Legitimacy of the New Mass

The Bishop especially criticized number 19 of the Instruction.

It reads: "The faithful who ask for the celebration of the forma extraordinaria must not in any way support or belong to groups which show themselves to be against the validity or legitimacy of the Holy Mass or the Sacraments celebrated in the forma ordinaria or against the Roman Pontiff as Supreme Pastor of the Universal Church."

The General Superior took the entire paragraph to mean that the legitimacy of the New Mass may not be doubted.

Actually, it's a fact "that probably ninety percent of those, who are attending the Old Mass see."

Because: Why should one attend the Old Mass if one is happy with the New -- asked the Prelate.

With this point, the Society is "surely not pleased".

Careful Criticisms

Additionally, Msgr Fellay criticized number 31 of the Instruction. There, the Diocesan Bishops are strenuously forbidden to offer Priestly ordinations in the Old Rite.

The section from 31 reads: 31. "Only in Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life which are under the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, and in those which use the liturgical books of the forma extraordinaria, is the use of the Pontificale Romanum of 1962 for the conferral of minor and major orders permitted."

Bishop Fellay had hoped for the same openness to ordination as with the Mass.

As a whole he greets the new Instruction "with mixed feelings".

As far as that goes, he hopes that the good will grow and that the Old Mass will be more and more celebrated.

No Reconciliation in the Short Term

Of the Conferences with the Vatican, Msgr Fellay said that he remains committed to them.

If it will produce a common clarification or not, only the future can tell.

The Bishop isn't expecting too much.

In the short term he does not see a reconciliation. The Society should not expect that Rome will suddenly say: "I was wrong".

Long term Msgr Fellay hopes for certain emendations -- especially of the Pastoral Council:

"It is very, very difficult, to say anything clear about the results of the Discussions."

Pope Warns of the Sins of Sodom and Gomorrah

Editor: The following is a google of Vaticanist Tornielli's account of Pope Benedict XVI's address during his general audience today.  If there are but ten good men left, God is good enough to work from that to save the city of man from utter destruction.  It is not only a warning, but a sign of love and healing.

Evil "is not acceptable," but "the Lord does not want the death of the wicked, but that he be converted and live; his desire is always to forgive, save, create, transform evil into good." This was explained by Benedict XVI during the general audience today, commenting on the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah, two cities where rampant immorality, for the sake of which Abraham prayed to God begging him not to wear his punishment in just the name of those who lived there.

With his prayers, "Abraham is giving voice to the desire of God, which is not to destroy, but to save Sodom, to give life to the repentant sinner." The need 'to find right men in the city "is becoming less demanding and ten in the end it will be enough to save the entire population." But "there were not ten righteous in Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities were destroyed." And this is because "the town were closed on an all-encompassing and numbing evil, without even a few innocents from which to transform evil into good."

"It is not the punishment that should be eliminated - said Benedict XVI - but sin, that rejection of God and the love that brings in itself the punishment." It serves, however, "a transformation from within, a few good holding on, a beginning from which to transform evil into good, hatred into love, vengeance into forgiveness." For this the righteous shall be in the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham and continually repeated: "Perhaps it will ...."

"There - Ratzinger has made clear - is in reality ill that there must be the seed of good that can heal and restore life." "It's a word," he added spontaneously to the Pope, addressed "to us" so that "in our town is the seed of good, we do not all because there are only ten righteous people to live and survive in our cities and to save us from the bitterness inside which is the absence of God in the real sick of Sodom and Gomorrah, the seed of good is not. "

Hearing these words of the Pope came to me immediately in mind the connection with the incident, sad and dramatic, the Genoese priest accused of abusing children by offering them in exchange for cocaine.

Study blames U.S. clergy sex abuse on poor training of priests, upheaval of the 1960s

Editor: The Bishops need to start taking responsibility for what they've failed to do in their training of priests and opening the doors of the Church to modern psychological techniques, moral relativism, Marxism and ultimately, Modernism.  It's a convenient time to point out what happened in California with the IHM Sisters at the hands of practitioners like Doctor Coulson who destroyed the lives of the Nuns there by appealing to their desire for becoming more modern.  They became more modern, alright., here and abstract here. Rather than identifying the problem, doing public penance and making restitution, the Bishops have instead, by and large, attempted to nullify the problem through various meaningless gestures and participate with those outside the Church who want to make this a cause for more, not less, Liberalism entering into the Church.  This Liberalism takes the form of sex education, which was part of the problem in the first place, increasing more lay involvement and pushing for an end to clerical celibacy, priestesses and an electoral process for Bishops.

In fact, this observation about the moral ineptitude of the Bishops and their conferences is not that controversial or original as Catholic Church Conservation notes: Cardinal Baggio in 1977 when Prefect of the Congregation of Bishops, addressed the Circulo di Roma, a group of diplomats and intellectuals based in Rome.

While dressing up his assessment of Bishops' Conferences in a generally positive light, he declared that, « as they were entirely human institutions, they reveal grandeurs and servility, ambiguity and contradictions, such as improvisation and inexperience, empiricism, group mentality when it comes to expressing an opinion, bureaucratic and administrative inertia, a refusal to take responsibility, a loss of energy and time- these defective elements lead one to consider sometimes that the Bishops’ Conferences are a aberration of pluralism »
Considering that sex-abuse is far more likely to occur among Protestants, and Jews, this study reiterates the true source of the problem, which is Liberalism and Modernism, sins upon which modern Judaism and Protestantism are founded.

Although the victims studied by the researchers were all legally minors, the authors said only a percentage of accused priests - less than 5 percent - could be technically defined as pedophiles.

Associated Press
Updated: 05/17/2011 11:50:26 PM CDT

WASHINGTON - Researchers commissioned by the nation's Roman Catholic bishops to analyze the pattern of clergy sex abuse over decades have concluded that homosexuality, celibacy and an all-male priesthood did not cause the scandal.

The report from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York said about 44 percent of the known abuse cases involved priests who were ordained in the 1940s and 1950s, at a time when seminaries did not properly train them to live a celibate life. These men were not equipped to withstand the social upheaval of the 1960s, which was a time of an increase in sexual deviancy and a spike in crime in society at large, the authors said.

The full report is the last of three studies commissioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops as part of child protection reforms adopted in 2002 at the height of the American abuse crisis. Dioceses nationwide have received allegations from more than 15,700 people against about 6,000 clerics since 1950, according to reports John Jay and others compiled for the bishops. The findings are scheduled to be released Wednesday. A person close to the bishops provided a copy to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity since the person was not authorized to release the information.

The debate over what caused the crisis has fallen along ideological lines, with liberals blaming mandatory celibacy or the lack of women in positions of authority. Conservatives pointed to gay priests, since the overwhelming majority of known victims were boys.

The John Jay researchers, however, said that the offenders chose boys mainly because the clergy had greater access to them. [This is the politically correct thing, of course, denying the obvious link to deviant sexual behavior and mental conditions which lead to the abuse.] According to the researchers, abuse cases peaked in the 1970s, then began declining sharply in 1985, following a similar trajectory for the rate of abuse in society at large.

The bishops hoped the results of the study, which were first reported by Religion News Service, would help them better identify potential offenders. The researchers, however, said they found no "psychological characteristics" or "developmental histories" that distinguished guilty priests from clergy who did not molest children.

"No single 'cause' of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic priests is identified as a result of our research," the authors wrote.

Although the victims studied by the researchers were all legally minors, the authors said only a tiny percentage of accused priests - less than 5 percent - could be technically defined as pedophiles. The John Jay researchers define pedophile as an adult with an intense sexual attraction to prepubescent children. However, victim advocates have disputed that classification, since boys ages 10-14 were the largest group of known victims, which could include children who had not yet gone through adolescence.

Critics argue the study cannot be trusted since the raw data was provided by the bishops.

In February, a Philadelphia grand jury alleged that the local archdiocese kept 37 credibly accused clergy in public ministry, despite repeated pledges by the nation's bishops that no offenders would stay on duty. In response, Philadelphia Cardinal Justin Rigali suspended about two dozen clergy and hired a former prosecutor to review the cases. Ana Maria Catanzaro, the head of the Philadelphia review board, which was formed to advise bishops on abuse cases, said last week that the archdiocese had "failed miserably at being open and transparent" and had kept some cases from the board.

"What Philadelphia does is reveal the flaws in the process," said Ann Barrett Doyle of the advocacy group BishopAccountability.org, which is compiling a public database of all records related to the scandal.

The Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests said the study is useless for protecting children because the focus is on priests, not bishops. No bishops have been disciplined by the pope for keeping offenders in ministry without warning parents or police.

Sister Mary Ann Walsh, a spokeswoman for the bishops' conference, said the bishops fully cooperated with the $1.8 million study, which was funded by the bishops, foundations and a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice.

"John Jay was chosen to do the study because of its independence from the church," Walsh said. "John Jay was free to consult whomever they wanted and they did so."

TFP Marches in Defense of Marriage Rally in Da Bronx

Editor: The TFP was invited to help at the Defense of Marriage March in the Bronx, New York by Senator Diaz.  There were many Cristeros present and the numbers were swelled somewhere between five to ten thousand.  Naturally, the decadent media ignored the presence of the Society for Tradition, Family and Private Property.

Don't be afraid. Stand up and tell the truth about marriage and listen to Mr. Brown.  They've told kindergarten children that their parents are bigots for believing marriage is between a man and a woman, closed down Christian adoption agencies and threatened those who oppose them.  In any event, someone should tell Mr. Brown that the problems were intensified by the Civil Rights Movement, but it was a moving speech all the same, but they need to understand that some of the principles they embrace actually undermine their positive support for marriage.

Mel Gibson Still Wears His Scapular

Some of us never take them off, not even in the shower.
Who cares about stars anyway? Well, Mel Gibson is one of the most significant creative artists of our age, such as it is, and he's still got the Faith, even if he is a bit broken down inside. He still has a devotion to the Blessed Mother, the Carmelites and St. Simon Stock, and so should you.

After failing to appear at a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival for his upcoming film, "The Beaver", Gibson is depicted here wearing a Scapular, or a religious garment that consists of two brown pieces of wool attached to a string worn around the neck. From the looks of it, this is a really cheap one he's worn for ages, it's tied around his neck, the brown colored tag of fabric hanging down.  It has an image of St. Simon Stock or St. Micheal the Archangel defeating the Devil, with an inscription which reads, "Whoever wears this scapular shalt not suffer eternal fire". It's a promise associated with the scapular that whoever wears it piously and follows its promises will be taken to heaven.

The Immemorial Mass of All Ages is Only for the Brave

Editor: Bishops will try to administratively and in any other way they can, ruin Seminarians and Priests who want to learn the Immemorial. Yet a courageous Scottish priest perseveres and celebrates the Immemorial at the Chair of Peter with the mighty Cardinal Brandmueller. It's the first time in forty years.
Plus this from te igitur blog:

[Catholic News Agency] Fr. Dunn said the advisory note seemed to interpret the Pope’s instructions in a way that effectively turned many of them on their head. In fact, the renowned blogger Fr. John Zuhlsdorf described the advisory document’s interpretation of “Summorum Pontificum” as the “coldest, most hostile I have read so far.”

“There were three Glasgow priests signed up to the course in Oxford. After that note came round, two dropped out. They felt really intimidated. My own response, though, was to stick it out and attend.

“Archbishop Vincent Nichols of Westminster said the first Mass. When I told him I was from the Archdiocese of Glasgow he said, ‘My goodness, you’re a brave boy’.”

Universae Ecclesiae: One priest's story :: Catholic News Agency (CNA)

Kreuz.net cited CNA and added to the story:

Seeking Consolation and Support in Rome

He visited the Conference on the Old Mass, which the Italian Organiation 'Youth and Tradition' had organized from Friday till today.

Today the Cardinal Emeritus Walter Brandmueller celebrated the Old Rite in the Pontifical Office on the Altar of the Cathedral of St. Peter -- the first of its kind in over forty years.

Father Dunn will assist at this Mass.

The new Instruction has Fr. Dunn in a hopeful mood.

He prays that Pope Benedict XVI and his advisers at the presentation of the Instruction to the Bishops of the whole world, will accept no deviations accepted.

In the meatime, there are two priests celebrating the Old Mass in the Archdiocese of Glasgow.

Actually, five other priests are learning it now.

The SSPX in Germany Lauds 'Universae Ecclesiae'

Editor: Something for everyone.

(kreuz.net) The Old Liberal Front in the German -- the theoflunkies, journalists and Bishops -- rebel against the new Instruction 'Universae Ecclesiae'.

That is the result of the first reaction to the document.

The German Bishops' Conference published only a brief press release on the publication of the new document.

The current Counsel of the Bishop's Conference will "advise" on the Instruction of the next meeting in June -- completely unnecessarily.

Accordingly, the original Guidelines of 2007 have "only been slightly altered".

The Nattering Bishops

The statement of the Bishops Conference attempted to downplay the importance of the Mass of All Times:

"In Germany there are 128 locations which celebrate the Mass at irregular intervals.

For that reason they are not organized in communities.

In comparison to which: In Germany there are 11,300 Parish Communities."

That these parish Communities are, in comparison to Old Rite Communities, massively over aged and spiritual dead is not discussed.

The Novus Ordo Eucharistic Celebration Expresses a Theological Break.

The speaker of the "Workers Community of Catholic Liturgists", the layman Benedict Kranemann, also criticized the Instruction.

Kranemann teaches in Erfurt.

He lamented that the Instruction had not taken into account the Critique of the German Bishop's Conference and the German State-theoflunkies.

There is a danger that "tensions within the Church will be intensified".

Kranemann asks, how "two different forms of religious services could stand for the same theology?"

This -- justifiable -- objection had been made also by Italian Liturgists.

In any case: The Sedevacantists are Discussed

The chief editor of the German 'Catholic News Agency', Ludwig Ring-Eifel, maintains, that the Instruction has "validated decisively the Traditionalist Faithful" in almost all points of argument.

The Instruction "has made an enormous entrance with the inhabitants of this stream near the Bishops" -- wrote Ring-Eifel almost as precisely careful as the Instruction itself.

In reality the Instruction forbids the Bishops to offer the ordination in the Old Rite in their Diocese.

Finally, Ring-Eifel commented on a "sharp" cut off of "tradionalist fanatics, who go so far as to declare the New Mass as invalid."

He mentioned the Sedevacantist position, in order to insinuate the Society of St. Pius X:

"The adherents of the Society of St. Pius X, which is at present in discussions over dogmatic conflicts with Rome, must decide where they stand."

Society of St. Pius X Praises Instruction

The German district superior of the Society of St. Pius X, Father Franz Schmidberger, boisterously praised the Instruction to the German 'Catholic News Agency'.

The Pope has placed a necessary bar on the arbitrary sidetracking of the Motu Propio by many Bishops.

The Cleric was especially pleased that the Instruction has promoted better Latin instruction.

Fr. Schmidberger sees a "serious Will" of the Vatican, 'to protect holiness of the Liturgy".

Anglicans in Conflict: Can a Freemason be a Christian?

London (kath.net/KAP) After the naming of a Freemason to Bishop the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, is once again coming under criticism.[He once apologized to them] From a report at the "Sunday Telegraph", the leading members and clergy of the General Synod of the Anglican Church criticized the decision to name Jonathan Baker as the Bishop of Ebbsfleet. There have been "serious conflicts between the organization and the Anglican Church", he said.

Baker would be a "flying Bishop" to care for the faithful, who are opposed to women's ordination and are still in the Anglican Church. According to information from the newspaper Baker let it be known shortly after his naming to renounce his membership in the Masonic Lodge this Sunday. He gave his grounds as being his desire to concentrate on his new appointment. Yet previously, he affirmed that his membership with the Freemasons are compatible with his Episcopal Office.

Williams has indicated in the past on various occasions that he has serious reservations about the compatibility of Freemasons and Christianity, for example, at a General Synod in 1987. The bout then, however, did not come to a conclusion.

Redemption songs: The conversion of Bob Marley

Editor: We just received this item from the e-mail. It's always heartwarming to hear stories of conversion. We'll withhold comment about Mr. Marley's ultimate fate. It's not something we can know with absolute certainty and it's not our decision to make, but God is love, we know that and that Bob Marley received the last rites of the Orthodox Church gives us more hope for his salvation than had he received none.

Redemption songs: The conversion of Bob Marley

By Christopher Stefanick

May 11 marks the 30th anniversary of the passing of Robert Nesta Marley, more popularly known as Bob Marley. He’s known by other titles as well: “The king of reggae,” “the first Third World superstar,” “The Honorable Robert Nesta Marley,” and, by Rastafarians, as “The Prophet,” or “The Teacher.” There have even been efforts by Jamaicans for him to be declared a national hero.

What many don’t know is that Bob Marley can also be called a Christian. He was baptized into the Ethiopian Orthodox faith before his death in 1981.

Bob Marley had become a zealous Rastafarian as a young man. The dreadlocks and pot smoking that became central to his image weren’t just accessories to a rock star lifestyle. They were pillars of Rastafarian faith. Rastas believe that cannabis removes mental barriers to enlightened thinking, and they base their dreadlocks in Old Testament law. As debatable as these doctrines are, it’s clear that a sincere faith in God and service of his people were the driving forces in Bob’s life and music.

One doesn’t have to dig deep into his lyrics to see Marley’s faith. In “One Love,” named the song of the millennium by BBC, Bob sings, “Give thanks and praise to the Lord and I will feel all right.” And in songs like, “Forever Loving Jah” (“Jah” is the Rastafarian word for God), Marley is clearly praying, not just performing. Praise to “Jah” can be found throughout his music. Bob wasn’t just a secular rock star. It’s probably more accurate to say he was a religious musician who had made it in the secular world.
