Homily by Cardinal Gerhard Müller at the Eucharistic Adoration for Life

Two days before this year's March for Life in Rome, the Eucharistic Adoration for Life took place, at which Cardinal Gerhard Müller preached a homily.

On the occasion of the Eucharistic Adoration for Life, which takes place every year just before the anniversary of the passage of the infamous law 194 that allowed abortion in Italy on May 22, 1978, Cardinal Gerhard Müller presided over the solemn ceremony in the Roman parish of San Giovanni dei Fiorentini.

This year's March for Life in Rome took place on May 22ndCardinal Müller delivered a sermon which we reproduce below:

Recently, the Holy Father has pointed out the drastic demographic decline that threatens the future of Europe and America, and it is not just a question of mere utilitarian thinking so that business and government can continue with future consumers, customers and taxpayers. The reason for this question is theological in nature:

“Man is the only creature that God willed for himself” (Second Vatican Council, Gaudium et Spes , 24), for every human being is predestined by God (as far as his present existence on earth is concerned) “in beings and form of his Son, that he may be the firstborn of many brethren" (Romans 8:29).

Every human being is embraced by God's salvific will from the moment of conception to the moment of his last breath. Therefore, any act of injustice against the life and integrity of another human being, especially the killing of a child in the womb (or even in the test tube [in vitro] or incubator) is a “despicable crime” ( Gaudium et Spes, 51). For life is sacred and protected by God Himself, as the fifth commandment of the Decalogue states:

"Thou shalt not kill" (Deut 5:17).

The legal order in all societies and states is aimed at human coexistence on the basis of morality; Morality means directing our actions towards good, based on the recognition of the fundamental dignity and rights of human beings, inherent in their nature and guaranteed by God. As human beings and Christians, we are convinced that the real (and not just abstractly theorized) physical man never exists as a purpose and instrument for something else or for the interests of others. This is the basis of our image of man and the criterion of all ethics.

On the other hand, the opposite of this is the starting point of all crimes against humanity and cynical contempt for human beings, with which Josef Stalin declared that Gulag prisoners only had a right to life because they were useful for the construction of the White Sea Canal. One Heinrich Himmler, commander of the notorious SS, said of his boss Hitler that he was "interested in the lives of a thousand Russian women only until they have dug an anti-tank trench for the Wehrmacht". And these are just two particularly drastic examples of the depths of human contempt in the political ideologies of a not too distant time. If one believes that there is overpopulation on our planet that consumes resources or negatively affects the climate, one cannot, however, propagate and justify the killing of life in the womb without revealing oneself as a diabolical misanthrope. Pope Francis, to whom some proponents of “reproductive health” (ie, abortion) invoke, says this in a very blunt way.

The materialists in power in the Western capitalist states and international organizations, as well as the communist dictators in China and its allied states, reject the doctrine of the creation of man in the image of God because they do not believe in God as believe our Creator and Judge. On the contrary, they claim to put themselves in the place of God and in their foolish arrogance are not even able to defeat the tiny coronavirus. Someone recently said: The oligarchs in Russia are mafiosi and in the West they call themselves philanthropists, so beware of those who pose as the saviors of humanity when they are only pursuing their own interests.

While the pandemic crisis and the measures taken to combat it have left millions of people in hardship and poverty, the world's ten richest people have simultaneously added hundreds of billions to their fortunes.

The dominant ideological current in politics, economy and communication thinks in a Darwinian-socialist perspective. This means that whoever asserts himself in the struggle for power, money and propaganda also has the law on his side, which is why only the powerful have the right to determine who is allowed to live and who must die based on their interests. They claim to determine which life is worth living and which life is not. Others even consider it a higher form of humanity to guarantee life only if born healthy, while it must be eliminated if born ill or in old age, in order to avoid present and future suffering. Or in the case of multiple pregnancies, only the child that the parents like according to their needs and preferences should survive; for example, China implemented the brutal and inhumane one-child policy for decades and forced women to kill their children. But whoever thinks in terms of the fundamental rights inscribed in man's spiritual and moral nature, or who invokes revelation in the Word of God as the ultimate criterion for man's image, can never find a just reason for killing an innocent human being.

We are in a “war against the saints” ( Rev 13:7), not only in the inhumane war against the Ukrainian people but also in the West, which is radically denying its Christian roots. Behind those responsible for all the suffering is “the beast that came up out of the earth', the epitome of wickedness and ungodliness unleashed by the life and death struggle of God's followers and against Christ the Lamb of God. Anyone who takes a pro-life position in Europe or America today is insulted, persecuted, discriminated against and marginalized. US Supreme Court justices who oppose abortion rights face death threats and their families' safety is threatened. Mobs fueled by the neo-Marxist media are burning Catholic churches in a country that prides itself on freedom of religion, expression and conscience. In Germany, as in all of Europe, where a campaign of annihilation against life, marriage and the family is underway,

In the pastoral constitution Gaudium et Spes, the Second Vatican Council addressed not only believers in Christ, but all people, as Magna Carta Pro Vita on the basis of inalienable human rights:

“Furthermore, which is contrary to life itself, like every kind of murder, genocide, abortion, euthanasia, and also voluntary suicide; whatever violates the sanctity of the human person, such as mutilation, physical or mental torture, and attempts at psychological coercion; whateverI offends human dignity, such as inhumane living conditions, arbitrary detention, deportation, slavery, prostitution, trafficking in women and young people, then also substandard working conditions in which the worker is treated as a mere means of subsistence and not as a free and responsible person: all these and other similar acts are in themselves a disgrace; they are a decomposition of human culture, degrade those who do wrong far more than those who suffer it. At the same time, they are supremely contrary to the Creator's honor” (Gaudium et Spes, 27).

In this hour of struggle for life and against death in the unborn, for the dignity of the seriously ill, but also for those at risk of suicide, if one wants to convince them that death (disguised as mercy) is their right, we Christians must remind them:

"Open your mouth for the sake of the mute, for the rights of all who are weak" (Proverbs 31:8).

ISIS Threatens Pope With Beheading

(Rome) The Islamic State (IS) has published a photomontage depicting Pope Francis being beheaded by a jihadist.

The Beheading is an Islamic ritual murder in which the victim's throat is cut and then the head is separated from the trunk.

In February 2015, the 21 Coptic Christians were murdered by the Islamic State (IS) in Libya. In this way, in July 2016, the Catholic priest Jacques Hamel, was murdered while celebrating Holy Mass by IS followers at the altar.

The photomontage published by Wafa Media shows a real execution by an Islamic terrorist. The head of the victim was replaced with that of Pope Francis. Wafa Media has released photos and videos of correct executions in the past.

To ensure that there are no doubts, the head of the pope was labeled "Jorge Mario Bergoglio".

In the background is the black flag of the Islamic terrorist militia.

SITE made Intel Group, a private association that monitors terrorist activity on the Internet has attended to the post.

Last week, Wafa Media released the manifesto, "The Ghost of Terrorism." In English it states: "You will pay dearly your war against Islam. We will avenge the blood of Muslims on your soil. We will kill the boys, and the old ones will have to watch. "

According to Islamism expert Robert Spencer, who recently published the book Infidel's Guide to ISIS, threats against the Catholic church leader have been part of the Islamic State (IS) strategy since its inception. The Pope is considered the head of all Christianity (see also "We will Take Rome" - New video of the Islamic State (IS): picture of Pope Francis Torn).

According to Spencer, the IS is working on a calendar according to which the final collision, the "Armageddon", will occur in 2025. In his ranks it is claimed that Mohammed prophesied that the two Roman cities Constantinople and Rome would be conquered. In 1453 Constantinople fell into Muslim hands. Since the interwar period it is called Istanbul.

The fact that the Islamic State (IS) is precisely targeting the head of the church, despite being one of the most influential advocates of barrier-free migration and repeatedly protecting itself from Islam, is a mystery. Pope Francis was silent on the ritual murder of Abbé Jacques Hamel and said at the Assisi meeting of world religions that war was "worse" than "terrorism".

The hatred of the jihadists against Christianity is obviously stronger.

Stronger "March for Life" in Rome -- The Hush About it Begins in the Church

(Rome) This year's March for Life took place in Rome on Saturday. Tens of thousands of participants once again put a strong appearance for the right to life of unborn children. Since the March for Life in Italy has evolved into a major event within a few years, the mainstream media have moved to a new strategy. Since it is not possible to make fun of the March for Life because of lack of success, it is silenced - because it is too successful.
Daily newspapers and television, which, when politically appropriate, report about rallies from a handful of people, conceal the Seventh March for Life with thousands of participants. They have concealed it in advance, so that as few citizens as possible can know about it and come up with the idea to take part in it, and they conceal it afterwards. Success and failure are also driven by this. At least an attempted influence is also to be seen in it.

March for life Media Out, march for immigration media In

While the March for Life is largely ignored in the reporting, a simultaneous March for the Immigration in Milan found the greatest media attention. In Milan - no matter what the media acrobatics - hardly any more people took part than the march in Rome. The difference? The march for boundless immigration, organized by numerous leftist groups and some left-catholic associations, obviously fits better into someone's mind. This is not an ideological antithesis, one would like to make believe that the proponents of life are against the advocates of the immigration. It is to understand that life itself is always holy and unconditionally holy,
Thus, too, Catholicism is by no means is Catholic. The director of the Italian National Broadcasting Service frequents certain Catholic circles who were involved in the pro-immigration march in Milan, but could not be seen in the pro-life march in Rome. Correspondingly, the reporting failed. The millions of children murdered since the legalization of abortion are considered taboo in these circles.
When the march is concealed for life, this has nothing to do with the media (and those who have influence on the media). It starts in the Church itself. Behind the scenes, the legalization of euthanasia appears to be a matter of fact. Since then, the Church has been silent, as has been the case for years on the subject of abortion. If she has to talk about it, then it does not receive too much notice in the public. Above all, she does not go out into the streets for the unborn children: one should not exaggerate  "the love of life", for the question is decided that the Zeitgeist is the same, the fight against it an overwrought thing of past times. Certain faithful and traditional Catholics remain, who do not want to accept the modern taboos.

Pope and bishops remain silent on abortion in Western Europe

As in the German-speaking world, the Church is also silent on abortion in Italy. This silence, of course, contains the necessary minimum, here and there a fleeting clue to signal that the Church still thinks as she always thought. Is this true? Is she really doing that yet? Doubts are appropriate. A real concern is that neither Pope Francis nor most West European bishops are concerned about the law of life. The homoeopathic dosage with which they employ themselves is lacking any initiative spirit, which is expressed elsewhere. It seems to be more a matter of appeasing those Catholics who have preserved an idea of the holiness of life. If these have occasionally dared to criticize, they may be referred to by this and that only casually.

Cardinal Caffarra: "With abortion and homosexuality, Satan challenges God"

In the run-up to the March for Life, the Rome Life Forum took place last Friday. Cardinal Carlo Caffarra said that "Satan challenges God with abortion and homosexuality". The history of mankind is a constant clash between these two forces. The final victory has already been decided, but up to that point, each man should decide, on the basis of his free will, in this struggle for one side or the other.
Today the consciousness has evaporated, "abortion is an obvious sign of the anti-creation," so says Cardinal Caffarra. The diabolic rebellion against God, which manifests itself in abortion and homosexuality, is a "sign of the apocalyptic times" that we experience, according to the Cardinal. We are not to talk about it at all. One must only have to accept and remain silent.
Riccardo Cascioli, the chief editor of Nuova Bussola Quotidiana , wrote in connection with the March for Life :
"It is no coincidence that there are voices about the establishment of a Vatican Commission even for the review of Humane Vitae. In the case of the two episcopal synods over the family, more than one bishop has raised such a demand. It is no coincidence that at the head of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia was put in charge, a bishop who immediately set about destroying the work of John Paul II. Even the embassies of the Italian Episcopal Conference on the Day of Life avoid talking about abortion, although the day was introduced as a direct response to the abortion legalization of 1978."

Cardinal Burke and Auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider

Among the participants of the March, Cardinal Raymond Burke and Auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider were again present this year. Pope Francis sent a greeting message, which can be seen as progress, in view of the coldness with which it has encountered in the past several years of the right to life initiative. At first the March for Life took place on Sunday and was led to St. Peter's Square to participate in the Regina Coeli with the Pope. Francis greeted various groups, but not the March for Life. In the meantime, a decoupling of the two events took place. Obviously the Vatican entertains a meticulous distinction between a brief papal greeting from the State Secretariat and a personal greeting from the Pope in Saint Peter's Square,
Despite the opposition of the abortion lobby, the March for Life quickly became the most important date for the Life movement and the most visible event for the unborn children in Italy. Delegations came to Rome from 20 countries on Saturday to emphasize the international importance of the commitment to the right to life.

Coda Nunziante: "A nation that does not promote life is a nation that dies"

This year the march was under the motto "Uncompromising for Life". The President of the Organizing Committee, Virginia Coda Nunziante, said in her speech:
"This place, so abundantly occupied, wants to reveal the beauty of life, but, with a firm determination from our politicians, to demand that our rulers stop financing our suicide with our taxes. Instead of killing our children, we ask for concrete help for the families so that they can raise their children. We are convinced that the economy would also recover. A nation that does not promote life is a nation that dies. And that is the demographic prediction that our country is making true."
She also referred to the 100th anniversary of Fatima Apparitions.
"Fatima is the most extraordinary event of our era. The Mother of God has come and asked us not to offend God any longer. In the hundred years since, however, the situation has deteriorated decisively, because almost all states have laws against life, against the family, and against the nature of man."
Coda Nunziante quoted from a letter that Sr. Lucia dos Santos had written to Cardinal Caffarra in the 1980s. In this letter, the visionary of Fatima said that the final battle between God and the devil will be on the subject of life and family. Coda Nunziante cited it for the March for the Life.
"We face this challenge in the certainty that with the help of God, life will always win over death."

House Vaticanist Puts the Brake on Reconciliation with SSPX

(Rome) Andrea Tornielli, a regular visitor to the Domus Sanctæ Marthæ, where Pope Francis lives, put the brakes in an article by Vatican Insider on the report by another publication, close to Pope Francis, Il Faro di Roma, which had reported on Monday, 10 April, that Pope Francis would announce the recognition of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X as a personal prelature on 13th May in Fatima. Was it only a Vatican test balloon to test the reactions?

This is quite conceivable, but there is still movement behind the scenes. The report by Faro was strengthened by a reference to the website of the Sacred Heart of Jesus' Seminary of the Society in Zaitzkofen. First, it was said:

"Perhaps the Society will be established as a personal prelate until June [June 2018] by Rome."

The sentence was later deleted from the report. Apparently, it had not been published with the consent of the administration, or the publication of such a hypothesis had at the time been regarded as inappropriate.

Tornielli's first-hand information

When the report of a possible announcement of the canonical recognition of the Society, in connection with the 100th anniversary of the first Marian apparition in Fatima, was taken over by numerous media, Andrea Tornielli had hit the brake on the evening of the 12th of April. Tornielli is considered to be a house and court vaticanista of the pope. The content of his report can not be exactly interpreted. The fact of his intervention, on the other hand, is probably due to the wish of Pope Francis.

Tornielli emphasized in his article that "Pope Francis took two important steps in favor of the traditionalist group by thinking in both cases of the faithful who follow the Society."

Tornielli continued:

"Some sources have spoken of a possible acceleration, and the announcement of an imminent action of the granting of a personal prelature during the trip, which the Pope will undertake to Fatima on the 12th and 13th of May, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Marian apparitions, which have influenced the history of the 20th century."

But then the brakeman follows with some background information:

"However, the situation has not changed since a few months ago. The General Assembly of the Society, Bishop Bernard Fellay, has not yet signed the modified and simplified doctrinal statement, which contains a professio fidei, considered by the Congregation of the Faith and the Pontifical Commission, Ecclesia Dei, as a necessary step before the legal process, the full return of the [Priestly Society] St. Pius X to communion. "

Tornielli then provides basic indications of a Vatican roadmap:

"The pope and the Vatican dicasteries are in no hurry and do not want to push Fellay, knowing that he has to make the bill with differences of opinion within the Society. It is also foreseeable that the Holy See, before setting up the Personal Prelature, will adequately inform the affected bishops' conferences of those countries in which the Lefebvrians are present and effective.

"The time is not yet ripe"

Tornielli emphasizes that the "followers of the Society have a special veneration for the Mother of Fatima," and a pilgrimage of the Society to Fatima will take place on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Virgin Mary's apparition.

"But the time, as important sources of Oltretevere [Vatican] inform, is not yet ripe."
A somewhat cryptic piece of information, which is not explained in more detail, why and on what page is "the time not yet ripe". Tornielli explains why in Fatima on 13th May there will be no announcement on the Society with the canonization of the seer children, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, and the centennial of the Marian apparitions, would be "pushed into the background."

The return of the Lefebvrians to the full communion," Tornielli said, "would be a message with a worldwide response since it would finally seal the end of the break-up in 1988." This rupture was already "partially restored," according to the papal house vativanista, in the decision of Pope Benedict XVI, "to abolish the excommunication of those who had received episcopal ordination."

Since 2012, when once - at that time still under Pope Benedict XVI. - after an imminent reconciliation, it is known that there are opposing positions in the Vatican and in the World Church, concerning a reconciliation with the Society. The different reports of media, which are close to the pope, seem to confirm a certain tug-of-war. The fact is that the voice of Andrea Tornielli is doubtless more important than that of Faro di Roma. Tornielli's report, with some concrete details on an intended procedure, confirms that he referred to his information, if not from the first hand, at least from the direct circle around the pope. The fact is that there are also parts in the Vatican, as already in 2012, who are working towards a recognition of the Society.

Pope Francis: "There is Corruption in the Vatican, But I am at Peace"

Edit: this is from German RT. We don't recommend you go there, you'll be bombarded by popups.

[RT] In an informal discussion with the leaders of the largest Catholic monastic orders, the Pontifex expressed his opinion on the financial aspect of ecclesiastical life, writes the journal La Civilta Cattolica. Although his tone was joking, the statements sounded parable-like. So God wants "very much that monks are poor"... "If they are not, God sends an economist to break the (religious) institution," the Pope said.

He also called the monks "not to wash their hands in innocence". He admits that there are people in the Church, such as Pontius Pilate, who wash their hands in innocence in order to remain calm. The Pope said: "There is corruption in the Vatican, but I am calm, and when a problem arises, I write a note to Saint Joseph and put it under his statue, which is in my room. There is a statue of a sleeping Saint Joseph, now he sleeps on a mattress of notes, so I sleep well, that is the grace of God, my peace is a gift of God," said Francis.

Posters Appear in Rome Denouncing Pope Bergoglio's Modernist Autocracy

Edit: here's a brief edited google translation of Marco Tossatti's report:

[Marco Tosatti] In Rome every now and again there appear posters without permission on the walls; ie posters that do not follow the regular procedure for the City. A modern and updated version of the bills that the Romans unhappily hung at Pasquino, the mutilated statue at Piazza Navona, to protest against injustices and to express their displeasure.

The last case of putting up posters - irregular - and mocking,  concerned the Minister of Education, Valeria Fedeli, a few months ago. But that the walls of Rome are now covered up with dozens of posters against the Pontiff is certainly a big news.

It happened today, and the news broke broke at ADN Kronos in these terms:

"There appeared dozens of posters this morning throughout Rome, hung on the walls of the city, of protest against Pope Francis and his work. The picture across the board shows the image of the pontiff which is particularly darkened and frowning. Below, on the bottom in purple, written with Romansh font: 'In Francis, you police congregations, removed priests, decapitated the Order of Malta and the Franciscans of the Immaculate, ignored Cardinals ...  is this your mercy? ' . The poster is anonymous, does not report acronyms or symbols, but is easily attributable to the conservative circles who increasingly expressed their opposition to the Magisterium, measures and the pontifical line of  Pope Bergoglio. "

Jihadist: "Will Pray in Rome" -- New Video by ISIS

Islamic State: The Goal is Rome

(Rome) The terrorist militia Islamic State (IS) has released a new propaganda video. The video shows a suicide bomber shortly before his deed. In his message he appears certain that Islam will carry "victory"  and the followers of Allah will soon pray in Rome instead of the Christians.
The suicide bomber blew himself up shortly after recording his video message in Benghazi in Libya in the air. He turns in his message to the jihadists in Syria and Iraq, who he wants to "win" and  to "pray in Rome".
Abdel Rahman el-Libi is the name of the Islamic kamikaze. He refers in his message to the "prophet" Mohammed, who had already predicted the victory over Rome. The Islamists should not fret neither the unity of the "crusaders," nor the Arab tyrants who were against them, Allah will give them victory. "We are a united nation and sharia will prevail throughout the world."
The video lasts 14 minutes and shows several pictures of suicide attacks in Libya and references inter alia to the Libyan General Khalifa Haftar, the commander of the army of the government of Tobruk.
According to the press agency Alwasat, Abdel Rahman el-Libi was killed in a suicide bombing last July 30 against a center of the Libyan army in Kawarsha in Benghazi. His video has just now been released by the Islamic State (IS) on the Internet.

"March for Life" Embarrasses Pope Francis -- Abortion Is Only a Question of Economic Systems?

(Rome) The sixth March for Life in Rome was a renewed success which gained by tens of thousands of participants to again bring the right to life of unborn children into public visibility. Katholisches.info reported on the use for a ban on abortion, but also about the monosyllabic, with the Pope Francis, the tens of thousands of lives protectors saluted. The Vatican expert Sandro Magister now writes of a "repellent Peter's Square" for "those who march for life".

"In the US it's a classic, in Rome Pope Francis would love not to see it"

"In the US, the March for Life at the White House in Washington is already a classic. But in Rome at St. Peter's it's not. Pope Francis does not like to see it show up. That was clear at how badly he treated it was at the 'Regina Coeli' on Sunday, 8 May," said Magister.

"At the conclusion, after which he paused for applause, first the faithful of Rome, then to those of Poland, Francis said leadenly and gravely: 'I greet the participants of the march for life'. But he tried to cover up their applause by the next words, which he repeated twice in the text, which he read to give gestures and smiles immediately afterwards to a group of Roman scouts and a group of the Firm Lingen from Genoa. The latter he even rewarded with spontaneous, friendly words: 'You are loud, Genoese!'"

The March for Life , which took place for the fifth time in Rome, was attended by Cardinal Raymond Burke, Archbishop of Ferrara Negri and Bishop Schneider of Astana. "Three churches representatives of whom Francis is notoriously allergic."

"Osservatore Romano also practiced shunning the whole initiative, not even dedicating a single line to it," said Magister. It's a hush which was followed by the Pope's daily in recent years. The day after the 4th March for Life in 2014 the Osservatore Romano gave space to the Freemason-friendly philosopher Marco Vannini to deny the resurrection of Jesus Christ, but not the March for Life.

"Why this aversion by the Pope" - abortion for Francis important only in anti-capitalist reading?

March for life through the streets of Rome on way to
St. Peter's Square
The Avvenire, the daily newspaper of the Italian Episcopal Conference, controlled by the Pope's confidant Nunzio Galatino, included a short report on 10 May that was hidden only on page 11. "To give an indication of a minimum of papal benevolence for the march, a letter from Msgr. Angelo Beciu, had to serve as the substitute of the Cardinal Secretary of State, which was not addressed to the March for Life in Rome, but to those in Portugal, which takes place on 14 May." The march in Rome was not even honored with a "standard message," said Magister.

"It remains to be understood why Pope Francis cherishes such a dislike, although he has condemned abortion on several occasions," said the Vatican expert.

"One indicator could be the context that the Pope connects these two convictions. It is in the context, of what he calls, throwaway culture '. His real enemy within is not those that kill the young, innocent lives - they deserve mercy - but the international economic powers that have caused such killings out of idolatry and greed."

Therefore, according to Master, "is that outside of this vision of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the March for Life becomes an obstacle to dialogue with postmodernism. Not a benefit to the image of the Church, but a burden."

If Magister's evidence agrees, this will result in a whole series of questions. Should it be possible that Pope Francis will reduce the killing of unborn children only to a social issue, and thus attempt to force it into an anti-capitalist reading? You change the economic system and there will be no more abortion? The millions of dead children and the millions of women and mothers, allow this mass murder, desire, seek, ask, and all those who urge pregnant women to have an abortion, are only victims of structural injustice and an unjust economic system?

2017 will in any case will bring no embarrassment for Francis, for him to ignore the March for Life. The organizers had first transferred it to a Saturday. This was consciously chosen in order to discontinue the common prayer with the Pope on St. Peter's Square which has been ongoing since 2012. Text: Giuseppe Nardi image: Marcia per la vita

Vatican Starts Its Own Internet Domain .Catholic

Top Level Domain .catholic will be activated.
(Rome) In October 2013, the Holy See secured the address for the top-level domain .catholic. from the international domain administration ICANN. Now the web pages of the Catholic Church are to be taken seriously with the move. Instead of the top-level domains such as .org , .info or country domains,   in future  URL addresses are to be used with its own top-level domain.

The State Secretariat of the Holy See announced the establishment of a working group for the launch of the new top-level domain. They will put it  into effect and coordinate the activation and move technically. The head of the group is Mauro Milita, the former computer science manager of Vatican Radio. When exactly will the URL addresses with the new top-level domain appear on the net, is not yet known.
All canonically recognized Catholic institutions such as dioceses and parishes, schools and universities, religious communities and organizations at the international, national or local level may obtain a URL address with the top-level domain .catholic (or in German-speaking .katholisch ).
To begin with it was to secure the rights in particular to protect against abuse. The Vatican did not want   the top-level domain to fall into the wrong hands. In addition to the English version, the rights were secured for all other language versions such as .katholisch , .catholique , .cattolico.
Securing the rights with ICANN cost the Vatican 165,000 euros. It wants to make sure that the web pages with the new top-level domain really originate from the Catholic Church and are operated by Catholic institutions.

The Blood of Christ in a Champagne Glass -- Liturgical Abuse Between Aesthetics and Plastic Plates

Edit: most of the time, liturgical abuse and bad taste are interlocked.

(Rome)  A liturgical blooper happened in the suburbican parish of Palestrina last Holy Thursday.

In the parish of the Assumption of the 50-year-old parish priest Fr Antonino Costa celebrated  Holy Thursday liturgy in the garb of a prelate or abbot. On what, exactly was the excavated privilege he appealed to for this, nobody really knows.
Roiate, a village of 750 inhabitants, picturesquely situated southeast of Rome, on the slope of Ernici can look back on an impressive history. Since the 4th century, the town belongs to the Diocese of Palestrina.  St. Benedict of Nursia is said to have left here a footprint in the rock on which the parish church is built. Many pilgrims flocked to it earlier times, therefore.Over the centuries, the foot print is "sweating"  again. Popular piety saw it as a "bad omen" for the future. A drop of fluid emerging from the rock has been collected and used for the last rites of the dying. In the past century the rock is said to have only "sweat" three times, in connection with the First and Second World War and the earthquake in Irpinia in 1980.
The name of Roiate has its origins in the Lombards, who came in 568 to the country and played a role here - at least some of their noble families - until the High Middle Ages. In 962, Emperor Otto I gave the town rights. The same emperor confirmed in 967 the already ancient territorial dominion of  Benedictine Subiaco. But the secular rule of Subiaco  was ended in 1753 by Pope Benedict XIV., and Roiate fell to the direct management by the Congregatio boni regiminis of  the Roman Curia. All this is not sufficient to explain the "Prelatization" of the pastor.

Liturgical "pastiche"

Roiate was the scene of a bizarre spectacle on Holy Thursday the past few weeks. Don Costa had built a huge canopy and a throne on which he sat during the liturgy. His rise in rank, he expressed by wearing a Rockett and a dalmatic under the chasuble, as is customary for bishops and abbots. All this may be irritating and doubtful, but the real problem it is not.

Pastor in Prelate robe with throne and canopy

"The  liturgical pastiche connected to it is unacceptable," said Messa in Latino . Don Costa had erected a square table in the sanctuary, where he set up a plasticated Last Supper, in which  "plastic" is to be taken literally in the transferred sense. Besides, magnificent candlesticks stood beside the twelve red plastic plates on the table, which was stocked as well  with all kinds of fruit filled cups, a plate of sliced bread, a carafe of red wine and two cups [sic] with hosts.
The pastor did not celebrate Missa in Cena Domini at the altar, but at this strange draped table.
"In the colorful Catholic world we had already seen it all. What in the infinite collection of liturgical abuses is still missing, the blood of Christ was served "in champagne glasses," so Messa in Latino .The "prelatized" pastor did not use a chalice for  the Eucharist, but a glass of champagne, which he elevated over the plastic plates and the fruit.
On the website of the Diocese of Palestrina the Liturgical Office writes that it was his duty, " to promote a deeper understanding of the immense treasure of liturgical rites and the liturgical magisterium, according to the tradition of the Church and in obedience to the Holy Spirit to promote."
"The  pity is that this in-depth unders'tanding' in Roiate seems not yet arrived," said Messa in Latino .

Archbishop Lori Doesn't Give a Damn for His Flock: Cares More About "Human Dignity"

Edit: it's not like he really cares about the Catholics living in the countries being targeted by Islamists, despite his claims to the contrary, which include Rome. Did you see the story about the Muslims who attacked soldiers at St. Mary Major screaming "Allah Akbar"? All of this fits nicely with a story previously put here on the increasingly menacing presence of Muslims in St. Peter's and Rome itself, where Muslims proselytize. Well, if the Pope won't do it, who will?
We wonder if there were any clerics of his stature in the Church who advocated this kind of accommodation when the Crusades were being preached. It's a good thing we had St. Lawrence of Brindisi instead of him.

(Vatican Radio) The Chairman of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops’ ad hoc Committee on Religious LibertyArchbishop William E. Lori of Baltimore, has added his voice to a growing chorus of Catholic Church leaders appalled by the suggestion – which came from a candidate for the nomination of the Republican Party in the United States in the 2016 presidential election – of using a religious test to exclude people seeking to immigrate to the United States.
In an exclusive interview with Vatican Radio, Archbishop Lori reiteratedsentiments first expressed while he was attending a conference at thePontifical Urbaniana University in Rome earlier in December - a conference specifically focused on the persecution of Christian religious minorities. “Certainly we have to guard our borders," Archbishop Lori told Vatican Radio, "certainly the government has to see to the security and the safety of its citizens – no one doubts that – but it raises the greatest of alarms when we do so on the basis of a whole religion.”
“To say, ‘You can’t come in because you are a Muslim,’ – that certainly is a denial of human dignity, it’s a denial of religious freedom,” Archbishop Lori continued, adding, “and it is, I think, very unfair in its characterization of Islam.”

Catholic Patriarch of Babylon Offers Resignation -- Reunion of the "Church of the East" Under Rome

(Baghdad) Patriarch Raphael Louis I. Sako of Babylon, the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Union with Rome has freely  offered his resignation to clear the way for the reunification of the three faiths, which are part of the  East Syriac tradition of the ancient Church of the East.
The ecclesiastical hierarchies of all three churches should be set to zero to allow the unions and the provision of a new common patriarch. The old Church of the East dates back to the early Christian evangelization east of the Tigris. The Church of the East brought the first news of Jesus Christ to Persia, India and as far as China.
Jean-Simon Sulaka was appointed in 1553 as the first Chaldean Patriarch united with Rome. Since the Western powers intervened militarily in Mesopotamia, today's Iraq, the Church has suffered a seemingly unstoppable  bloodletting. The stronger the military intervention of the West, the more untenable was the position of the Christians in their homeland. They were persecuted, decimated, scattered and whoever was able  emigrated.

Assyrian Church of the East Primarily a Diaspora Church

The same fate was experienced by the other two confessions. The Assyrian Church of the East now lives almost only in their thriving communities in the US, Western Europe and Oceania. Because of the persecution of the Assyrians by Muslim Kurds and Arabs, and the massacre of Simele in which several thousand Assyrians were killed, the Assyrian Catholicos of the Patriarchate of the mountains has lived since 1940 in exile in the United States. This Oriental Orthodox Church is currently in a transitional phase, as Catholicos Dinkha IV. Khanania died last March and the decision on the succession has been postponed until September. The Church is considering the relocation of the Patriarchate from Chicago to Iraq specifically to Erbil in Kurdistan.

1964 Elimination of the Assyrian Christians in Iraq

Catholicos Addai II.
Because of the exile situation of Patriarch   the Assyrian Church of the East split in 1964, the Iraqi part which has since then been called Ancient Assyrian Church of the East. Because of flight and emigration it also   now has diaspora communities in the West and other countries of the Middle East. The Catholicos of the Assyrian Christians in Iraq since 1970 is  Patriarch Addai II. with headquarters in Baghdad.
The proposal of Patriarch Raphael Louis I. Sako looks to a union of a canonically independent Church, but united with Rome. His proposal establishes the Patriarch especially with the common threat of Christians in Iraq. There were doubts whether the migrated Christians will return to Iraq again because the situation is unclear. Above all, one does not know how it with the Islamic state would continue (IS), which is a declared mortal enemy of the Christians in the Middle East.

Common "Church of the East" in Full Communion with Rome

The name of the new church would simply read "Church of the East".  With regard to the recognition of the Pope in Rome, it refers to the 1994 signed agreement of Louis Raphael I. Sako  by Pope John Paul II. and Catholicos Dinkha IV. common Christological declaration that the Assyrian Church of the East and the Catholic Church confess the same faith in Jesus Christ. It was also noted that the ancient Christological controversies were largely due to misunderstandings.
Since 2013   talks were being  held at the initiative of Patriarch Raphael Louis I. Sako which were welcomed by the late Catholicos Dinkha IV.
