"Pedro Arrupe Was a Prophet"



Pope Francis meets with the Jesuits of Thailand on November 22, 2019 in Sampran.

(Rome) In its current issue ( issue 4067 ), the Roman Jesuit magazine La Civiltà Cattolica published a copy of the encounter between Pope Francis and the Jesuits of Thailand, penned by his confidant P. Antonio Spadaro SJ. Comparable to the flying press conferences, these internal meetings give better insight into the thinking of Pope Francis than his official speeches. The summary publication after each meeting is made with papal approval. The head of the Church knows that his answers will be made publicly available.
A question from the Thai confreres referred to the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS). It has had an office in Berlin since 1996, in Switzerland since 2010 and in Austria "it was able to work intensively again in 2015". Francis reaffirmed his call for boundless migration and declared refugees a "theological place".
Pope Francis: Working with refugees has become a real “theological place” for the Jesuits. I consider it a theological place. That was the will of P. Pedro Arrupe [1], who emphasized the importance of this mission in his last speech here in Thailand. Father Arrupe was a prophet to me: his "swan song" was the foundation of the Jesuit refugee service right here in Bangkok. Then he suffered a stroke on the return flight from Thailand to Rome. [2]
The refugee phenomenon has always existed, but today it is better known for its social differences, hunger, political tensions and, above all, war. For these reasons, migration movements are increasing. What is the answer the world gives? The policy of segregation. Refugees are waste. The Mediterranean was turned into a cemetery. The impressive cruelty of some detention centers in Libya touches my heart.
Here in Asia we all know the Rohingya problem [3]I have to admit that some of the stories I hear across borders in Europe shock me. Populism is gaining strength. In other areas, there are walls that even separate children from their parents. Herod comes to mind. However, there are no walls to stop drugs.
As I told you before, the migration phenomenon is compounded by war, hunger and a "defense philosophy" that makes us believe that it is possible to defend ourselves only through fear and strengthening the borders. On the other hand, there is exploitation. We know exactly how the church works - how many sisters are involved in this area! - works hard to save girls from prostitution and various forms of slavery. The Christian tradition has a rich evangelical experience in dealing with the refugee problem. 
We also remember the importance of welcoming the stranger that the Old Testament teaches us. But also many small folk welcome customs, such as providing an empty chair on a festive day in the event for when an unexpected guest arrives. If the Church is a field hospital, one serving the most injured, then we have to go to these hospitals the most.

I return to the “theological place”:  the will of Father Arrupe gave work with the refugees a great boost, and above all he asked for one thing: prayer, more prayer. The speech he made to the Jesuits who worked with the refugees here in Bangkok was not to neglect prayer. We have to remember it well: prayer. In other words, do not forget the other, the spiritual, in this physical periphery. Only in prayer will we find the strength and inspiration to go well and fruitfully into the “disorder” of social injustice.
Hardly any superior general is more controversial than Pedro Arrupe, whom a part of the Jesuit order venerates like a saint. On February 5, 2019, his beatification process was opened, which Pope Francis sympathizes with.
Another question that Pope Francis was asked by the Jesuits present was about pastoral action towards the remarried and divorced. Francis does not seem to like the question. In contrast to the refugee question, for which he took a lot of time and answered in detail, he stayed briefly on this point and redirected to the next question. The willingness to respond and the length of it indicates a priority setting.

What is remarkable about his short answer is a confusing juxtaposition, which the Pope formulated as a contradiction: on the one hand there is a "Church" answer, which is "not Christian", and his answer, which he identifies as "teaching".
Pope Francis: I could answer you in two ways: in a casuistic way, but which is not Christian, although it can also be ecclesiastical; or according to the Magisterium of the Church, as it is written in the eighth chapter of Amoris laetitia, that is, to make a way of accompaniment and differentiation in order to find solutions. And that has nothing to do with the situation ethics, but with the great moral tradition of the Church.
But I see that the time is up. But let's take another quick question…

Contradictions of the Church "of the Open Doors": Argentina's President May Not be a Godfather

(Buenos Aires) The new church line is coming snaking into the Argentina Church.  Everything seems to have its order, but  surely there is  no one, let alone the people, who might pass by the signals into a skid. Or is it all just a matter of policy?
The double Synod of Bishops had the obvious target, remarried divorcees - to better integrate into the Church - with or without admission, to Holy Communion. In an interview with the Argentine newspaper La Nacion, Pope Francis said on December 7, 2014:
"They are not excommunicated, that's right. But they may not be godfathers, they may not be lectors at Mass, they may not give Holy Communion, they must not be catechists. They may not do seven things, I have the list here.Stop! When I put down the bill, then it seems as if they were de facto excommunicated! Therefore: we open the door a little. Why should they not be godfathers?"
That was shortly after the end of the first Synod of Bishops and before the Second Synod of Bishops on the Family.

On 5 April 2014, and a few months earlier, a child conceived by artificial insemination was baptized in the Argentine city of Cordoba Cathedral whose mother lives in a lesbian relationship with another woman. The two women who are active in the gay scene were previously briefly in a "gay marriage".

The baptism became a media event for the acceptance of homosexuality. The former Left-Peronist President Cristina Fernandez Kirchner was designated a godparent. The event caused a significant tempest, there was reasonable doubt that the lesbian couple could ensure a Christian education of the child. The same was true for the godmother, who had enforced the "gay marriage" in her term of office and wanted to foster the introduction of abortion.
All of the concerns were from the cathedral minister were brushed aside, not without the support of  the Archdiocese. This is about the baptism of a child, period. The girl wasn't just baptized in any chapel and in the absence of the media, but in the Archdiocesan Church and under a lot of hype.
Since there was no accompanying explanation, the impression remained that the Catholic Church recognizes aberrosexuality, "gay marriage" and artificial insemination of lesbian women. The sponsorship by State President Kirchner also gave the event a clearly political aspect and presented the baptism in the service of the aberro lobby.
With artificial insemination there is also the suspicion of  selective abortion is given in relation to aberrosexuals. Lesbians prefer girls, gays want to adopt boys or have the  delivery by surrogate mothers.

Transsexual as "Godmother"

In March 2014 a  "transsexual" Enrique Martinez aka Solange Lisette Luna Navarro, a prominent gay activist, complained that he could not be a "godmother" in an interview with Radio Fénix. "The law agrees with me,"  said the "transsexual" citing a "legal right", referring to the law of the state, not to the law of the Church.  Catholic doctrine had no influence on Martinez.
Shortly thereafter, the competent Archdiocese La Rioja published a press statement by the Vicar General, who announced that the "transsexual" may very well be "godmother."   The reasoning of the General Vicar was based, combined, on the "new legal order" of the papal pronouncement: "Who am I to judge."
The baptism of a girl with "two mothers" and sponsorship of a "transsexual," although in both cases the persons concerned expressed their rejection of a part of Catholic teaching in public statement, was for not a problem for the Argentine Church, nor for demonstrably politically tinged sponsorship of anti-Church State President.

Refusal of Sponsorship by President Macri

Things look quite different for the new conservative president Mauricio Macri. Macri has been married since 2010 in third marriage with businesswoman Juliana Awada. Awada, daughter of a famous Lebanese business family in Argentina with a Muslim father, Catholic mother (Syrian Catholic), had been baptized and brought up Catholic as had been her four siblings.

Tiziano, the now four months old godson of the President had to be baptized in a Protestant church, because no Catholic parish had offered their services. The reason? Because the president is divorced and remarried.
Tiziano is the seventh child of a Catholic family. One tradition after it is customary for the President to be upon request the sponsor of the seventh child. 
The mother of seven, Natalia Alcalle, went "very happily" to the cathedral, the former episcopal  church of Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio to there to ask for baptism. The surprising answer was "No". Then she approached the most renowned Marian shrine of Argentina, the Basilica of Our Lady of Lujan. The answer was again negative.
In three parishes they asked. Once the name Macris was mentioned, "we were faced with a wall"  Mediamza wrote, citing the mother two days ago. After three rejections she had become "so embarrassed" that she did not dare a fourth request. "I was told everywhere, that is not possible, because the president is divorced and lives in concubinage."
After some consultation with the Presidential Chancellery, Pastor Victor Doroschuk of the Protestant  Church "Vida y Paz" was finally consulted.

It was Pope Francis, who significantly changed  the protocol of the Holy See changed abruptly, and President Macri had received last February 27 with Juliana Awada. Until then, the spouse of remarried and divorced State representatives were greeted by the pope only separately, and briefly  in a separate room. Also, there was no common photo with the Pope. The protocol was in order to engage clarity and  the conscience, to underline the difference between a regular and an irregular marriage connection.
The change means a few scant months after the end of the Second Synod of Bishops on the Family, a dramatic intervention in the Vatican protocol and it was understood as a signal of a change of course towards divorce and remarriage.

Pope "really links nothing" with President Macri

Overall, however, it is known that Pope Francis had preferred Macri's Left-Peronist opponent in the presidential election. Since then there have been several  taunts. This included that Macri, who took office as head of state on 10 December 2015 last March who offered the Pontifical Foundation Scholas Occurentes  a grant of more than one million dollars. "As of May 30th when the news came to the Vatican, the Pope took the anti-Peronist and Liberal Macri's victory very poorly, according to what his Argentine friends said," wrote the Vatican expert Sandro Magister. The money was sent back by return mail. Take no money from governments. However, that was something different under Macri's predecessor Kirchner.  Argentine media reported a "disavowal" of the President, with whom  Pope Francis apparently does not want to be associated.
Should political affiliations be decisive for baptisms in Argentina's Church under Pope Francis? Homosexuals, transsexuals and LGBT activists, yes, conservative politicians, no?
Education, training and information on Catholic doctrine and Sacraments in all directions and to all situations seem to be subject to the time of day.

Bishops of Costa Rica: "Communion for Remarried Divorced is Not Possible"

Bishops of Costa Rica: "There is no possibility that the remarried divorced can
receive communion."
(San José) The Episcopal Conference of Costa Rica has issued a document to implement the post-synodal letter Amoris laetitia. One possibility is that remarried divorcees might be admitted to communion, is addressed in a single word.

The largest newspaper of the Central American country, La Nacion, reported on 17 July, the Sunday edition, in large presentation on the front page of the new document by the bishops. "Church unwilling to give remarried divorcees communion," headlined the Journal. Presentation and headline reveal the expectations generated by Pope Francis whose questions hung in the air. The newspaper conducted an interview on the topic with Costa Rica's most famous Bishop.

On the question of the state are remarried divorcees,  Bishop José Francisco Ulloa Rojas of Cartago replied:

"They are still in the Church. They were never considered excommunicated. They can participate in everything except the sacramental communion.

On the question of whether these people can receive penance and the Eucharist, Bishop Ulloa clarified:

"In the Pope's document the possibility for remarried divorcees to receive communion isn't mentioned.  The Church, however, recognizes the way to practice continence in marriage, and there are examples. For these people, there is no impediment to participate also in Communion."

He added:

"I think that any Catholic who is conscious of his faith, knows that Communion is an essential aspect of his life. I'm sorry to say that does not mean all. Nevertheless, there are many couples in special situations who wish to receive Communion, but know that there is an obstacle to do it."

Bishop José Francisco Ulloa of Cartago

In 2010 Bishop Ulloa was, from the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of Costa Rica, the top electoral authority of the country, who, out of the three judges of the Supreme Court,  was condemned  because he had asked Catholics not to choose politicians who contradict the views and goals of Catholic doctrine, At the time of the statement, Costa Rica was in the election campaign. The Constitution prohibits the clergy from "interference" in politics. Although Bishop Ulloa had made his statement in a sermon during a Mass and not as a call to vote, and thus not in the political but in the vital area of ​​the Catholic Church, the court found him guilty.

Bishops and Priests Stage Race Around "Communion for Everybody"

(Rome) To  emulate the Pope is in itself laudable, but not always appropriate. In some parts of the Catholic Church there is a race among priests and bishops which has begun as to who will be the first - to give Communion to divorced and remarried - on behalf of the Pope.
Cardinal Schönborn may lay claim to this unusual  primacy for himself. He was the first who already, at the launch of the Post-Synodal Exhortation Amoris laetitia,  announced that the world Church merely accept what he had been practicing already for "15 years"  in his archdiocese. He must have acted as a rather secretive practice because he was one of Ratzinger's students,  who  never ceased being criticized in the notoriously in "progressive" and "conservatively" divided church in Austria by the "conservative" side.
Similarly of Schönborn of Vienna  the church newspaper of the northern Italian Diocese of Bergamo also reports, that a Church praxis has been born of "local handicrafts." In other words, what had already been conceived on the spot without approval and against Rome, now receives official Roman blessing.  Msgr. Alberto Carrara, priest, editor of the church newspaper and even the author of the editorial, raised his glass to toast the fact that at last it could be done "in the light of the sun," which previously had to be practiced in the dark.
Amoris laetitia makes that part of the church show its the true face, which had apparently been well camouflaged in the past. This outcropping reveals how many have, half-heartedly or not, imparted and defended the doctrine of the Church. Rather, they have promoted it with their hidden parallel magisterium those who with receptive attitudes towards the Church to adapt the teaching to the current wishes of the people.
What is astonishing is the speed with which the "prophets" of a "new church" have come to light, pushing their idea that goes back long before the current pontificate.

Pope says "Yes and Period" and appears annoyed by journalists

On the flight back from Lesbos, Pope Francis was asked for the first time to  answer  the question whether the divorced and remarried are now to be admitted to communion or not: "Yes, and period". This is how he could respond, said the Pope, but it would be too short a response. He referred therefore to Cardinal Schönborn and his idea of Amoris Laetitia. There it is, in addition to the description given by Pope, a  summary of response the longer version.
When another journalist inquired, Pope Francis was a bit annoyed and criticized the media. This would reduce the double-synod to a referendum on Communion for divorced and remarried. Considering the ecclesial reality, the Pope would have all the more reason to be upset with priests and bishops, who aren't quick enough to sound their willingness give Communion to divorced and remarried  (and who knows what else ).
Finally, it was Pope Francis, who had convened the Synod and Cardinal Kasper is to have provided direction for remarried divorcees, and not the media. Everything comes to admission to the sacraments and the doctrine of the sacrament of marriage, the Eucharist and the sacrament of penance has happened and is happening, is homemade. The media has so little to do.

"Proud they've been doing it  for 40 years"

Shortly after the release of Amoris laetitia a priest active in Rome. Giovanni Cereti, gave an interview to the newspaper Quotidiano NazionaleHe stated emphatically  with pride that he has been giving the divorced and remarried Communion for 40 years. Don Cereti belongs to the circle of Old-68ers, who presented even then the book on "Divorce, Remarriage and Penance in the Early Church,"  which was reissued in advance of the second Synod of Bishops in 2015, in order to support the position of  "communion for all." 
In the Philippines  the same goes for  the Bishops' Conference. "Charity can not wait," they explained to the faithful of the archipelago. It would be followed by "concrete guidance" by the bishops. Until then, "bishops and priests are already prepared to open their welcome arms towards those who've kept away from church out of a sense of guilt and feelings of shame.  The laity have to do the same. "
As said, the Pope should rather be annoyed over his closest associates, who pressed at every opportunity the question of Communion for divorced and remarried   for two years to journalists. Since it is difficult to believe that the closest of the Pope's confidants have done so against the will of the pope, the papal words against journalists have less to do with his response to the Communion question, but now that outbreak has happened, the pope no longer want to be bothered with it. In short,  everything necessary has been said and the progressives have understood the message. When one speaks  for too long on details, then the last "conservatives" could still get the idea to go behind the scenes and throw light on  the operation, which took place under his eyes, but did not recognize his  transfigured view of the papacy, and unintentionally supported the pope's justifications. 

How certain clergy deal with the Sacraments

The above-mentioned Msgr. Carraro expressed surprise that his article caused such a fuss. In his reply, he reported on his discussions with divorced and remarried. It is worthwhile to reproduce his description, in order to understand the significance  certain clergy attaches the sacraments.
I met people who had entered into a new marriage many times. With them I had something like this conversation: "Your marriage, the first which failed, is indissoluble. This is written in the Gospel. You have not managed to live it to the last detail: to live as a united flesh is no easy matter. I know this because many I speak to  do not separate, and so to live a whole  lifetime is hard."
" It was he, however, who has run away with his secretary ... " she answered me. "But living together had become a hell."  "We would have been forced to do the whole life as if ..." I listened. Often tears flowed.
I continued: You are protesting because the Church excludes from the sacraments. If you give to that the Church has some decision making problems with this Gospel in its hand? Look at you. You can live your faith without confession and  without communion, you are a Christian, you're all Christian in every respect.
"Excuse me, why do you persist then so much on the Eucharist?" I listened. I could not answer, because I myself made ​​this objection, which the Church,  as I was seen as its  official representative at this moment. I felt like two parts, both accused and accuser.
I continued: "But, according to me, you can also opt to receive Communion. I give you absolution.This does not mean that the problem is solved. It remains in limbo. It's just outside my conscience as a priest, it seems to me that I can not tell you that you are sentenced for life. You take the responsibility to ask the absolution, I take the responsibility to give it to you. And then we wait with confidence."
After I give them absolution, I always felt extremely quiet. I always thought: If I'm going to hell, then at least not because of these absolutions. Maybe I'm being immodest, but it seems to me that my Church has been vindicated in the end.

Downside of outings : Hunt for faithful priests

The "outing" of priests and bishops, who "always" gave public adulterers communion  or wanted to give it, is only one side of the coin. The other side is the hunting, which has now been opened against those priests and bishops, who oppose this "opening". The framework is already established: A priest holding a sermon, a catechesis or a marriage preparation seminar and someone starts to complain about  the "backward-looking" and "ruthless" ideas of the priest with reference to Pope Francis. The priest will demonstrate and defend the doctrine of the Church and therefore stand as an "enemy" of the Pope. Because whatever he says, he will raise the impression in his opponent  or must allow that it is  possible  from this that he thus claims, that the Pope is not Catholic. Is it possible to defend the Catholic doctrine against the Pope? It is possible, yes, but also a very difficult task. Aside from that, journalists who will give the "suffering of (the priest) discriminated" a fair hearing are few. The priest will be lynched by the media in no time. His own bishop will  let him down quickly in many cases. 
The experience of Father Maurizio Vismara, vicar of the Diocese of Pistoia Montemurlo, is already in the making. In a preparation for First Communion, usually a family event, the Chaplain told the parents that he could not give them Communion, who are in an irregular situations. One of those present felt insulted and the case ended up in the media. The daily newspaper Il Tirreno gave him an entire page, in which the priest was attacked who had dared to call to memory the doctrine of the Church,  because the "mature" Catholic knows only rights but no duties, at least none that he does not want to know.

And the next target is the priest celibacy?

"That's just a taste. In the coming months we will live to see everything. And maybe even the official announcement of the next target: priestly celibacy. Maybe it is just an unattainable ideal, which is too heavy a yoke for many priests?" said Riccardo Cascioli, the editor of the Catholic Internet newspaper Nuova Bussola Quotidiana .
Schönborns gradualism theory would,  if applied to celibacy, just mean that while everyone should strive for the ideal, it is not given to everyone to achieve the ideal in the same rate and to the same extent. Therefore, various levels reached would need to be recognized and appreciated. Or this, then, might be the justification for lifting the celibacy priest.

Clarín: "Will Pope Francis Carry Out a Historical Turning Point for the Divorced and Remarried"


Edit: the real attention-getter is that the heretical Danube Cardinal will be reading it.  We'll remind you that he is not only the man who allowed the vile pornographic creations of the Communist Alfred Hrdlika to hang in his cathedral church (he's also buried in the cemetery)  and bookstore, but he also confirmed the approval of an aberrosexual in a civil partnership as head of the parish council in one of his parishes, in front of the flashing cameras of the media.  We don't understand why a man who adores Conchita Wurst is still a priest, much less a man responsible for the souls of millions of Austrians, but it's not our decision.

(Rome) On Friday in two days, the post-synodal letter of Pope Francis on the family will be presented. So far the only thing  known is that the letter begins with the words "Amoris Laetitia" and that it will be presented on Friday by Cardinals Lorenzo Baldisseri and Christoph Schönborn at the Vatican. Cardinal Baldisseri has been raised by Pope Francis to the state of cardinal and appointed Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops. He is considered a close confidant Pope. Cardinal Schönborn has since 1995 been Archbishop of Vienna and since 1998 chairman of the Austrian Bishops' Conference. He was brought into the College of Cardinals by Pope John Paul II in 1996.
The Dominican from an ancient noble house was particularly appreciated by Benedict XVI. to whose student circle he belonged, and in addition to which he was editor of the World Catechism. However, Pope Francis does not seem to appreciate him any less. The approach is in direct connection with the Synod of Bishops, in which Vienna's Archbishop stuck his neck out too far with daring theories on homosexuality and a "gradation" of the marriage.

Papal thanks for Cardinal Schönborn

Anyway, he is currently the highest dignitary of the German-speaking world, who was afforded visibility by Pope Francis in Rome. During the Synod of Bishops he had entrusted him with an honorable task. Schoenborn was allowed to hold the speech at the ceremony, which was organized on the 50th anniversary of the Conciliar statements. It was Schönborn   above all else, was organized the compromise fomrula on 23 and 24 October, for the final report of the synod, which prevented a breach between a majority of the Synod Fathers and the Pope at the last moment. It was  clear how close it was since one of the controversial articles was nevertheless adopted only by a razor-thin majority of one vote.
That Cardinal Schönborn will present the highly anticipated post-synodal letter "Amoris Laetitia" on Friday, which is meant as thanks the Pope.  From a diplomatically predisposed house - his family represents not only the church, with many bishops, but the old Empire also with ministers and diplomats - Schönborn is the link to the rebellious German princes of the church together with the smug apparatchiks who again are rehearsing their uprising against Rome.
The Argentine newspaper Clarín's headline the day before yesterday: "Francis could announce a major turn for divorcees". The unnamed author's piece awakens the "hope" that Pope Francis "will give the green light on Friday for the bishops to grant the remarried divorcees the sacraments."

Squaring the circle

Specifically, says Clarín , it will be "hoped" that the pope transmits the power to the bishops   to decide independently whether they would offer a "penitential" course, leading to the re-admission to the sacraments. The newspaper tried to play square the circle:
"The 'penitential way'  confirms on one hand that the Catholic marriage is indissoluble by divine will, while on the other hand it offers the possibility that the divorcee who married civilly for a second time, can regain admission to communion, which was withdrawn from them because they live with their new partners in a state of serious disorder. "
The newspaper asks: "Will the Pope consummate the historic change that a church marriage can be dissolved in certain cases, which it rejects doctrinally, but  allows in practice?"

German bishops threaten "going alone"

For the majority of the German bishops the "penitential path"  for the admission to the sacraments must end. If Rome does not agree, they would practice independently, "as they have been threatened on several occasions". [Which they've been doing for decades and even centuries.]

For them, "marriage is indissoluble and neither the Church nor the pope can change the will of God". The "penitential path" is not a "second chance" to enter a new marriage, as in the Orthodox Church. "There could therefore come some stormy times of the Church," said Clarin.

"Mercy Can Never be a Dispensation From the Commandments of God" -- Interview Book With Prefect Cardinal Müller

(Rome) "The doctrine of the Church does not change."   The debut of a new book has been announced with this sentence. While the world waits for the post-synodal letter of Pope Francis on the Double Family Synod, the interview book "Report on the Hope" by Cardinal Gerhard Müller, Prefect of the Congregation, is ready for publication. Mercy never means that the commandments of God would no longer be valid. Therefore, the rules can not be "overcome by life", in contrast to what the new Archbishop of Berlin, Heiner Koch, said just before the Synod of Bishops in October 2015 to the press.
The Spanish priest, Carlos Granados had a long conversation with Cardinal Muller that is appearing in book form. The Spanish title is "Informe sobre la esperanza. Granados is Director General of the Library of Christian Authors .On March 19, the third anniversary of his inauguration,  Pope Francis signed the post-synodal letter about marriage and the family, to be published in April.
Founded in 1944 Biblioteca de Autores Cristianos (BAC) publishes the works of classical Catholic authors. The location of the collection is the Pontifical University of Salamanca. During the reign of General Franco, the library was declared a national interest and facilitates the publication of the works by government grants.
The first volume of the library was the Spanish Bible translation of Nacar and Colunga, published in 1944, considered the most common Bible translation in the Spanish-speaking world today.

Communion for divorced and remarried contradicts the divine law of the indissolubility of marriage

Some excerpts were published in advance in the Spanish right to life magazine, Actuall.  A major concern is the question of the admission of divorcees who were ecclesiastically married, but civilly remarried. Cardinal Müller affirms in the book that there can be no Communion. It is "impossible" to grant those Communion who live outside their valid marriage in another relationship. "The nature of the divine right of the indissolubility of marriage" made ​​it impossible, says the Cardinal.
The Prefect has now also put in writing, which  the majority of these at the Family Synod insisted upon, that the Communion of these persons is not possible.
"Mercy is never a dispensation from the Commandments of God or a justification for them to be overriden or set aside: 'Go and sin no more,' says Jesus to the adulterous woman, after he had treated her with great compassion."
Upon this example of Jesus implored shepherds, priests and bishops  to align and "to make an effort to include the divorced and remarried with tact and warmth, to accompany them and to involve them in the normal life the Church."

Whoever pleads contrary, that the position of the Church on sexual morality is not realistic, Cardinal Müller answers:
"The biggest scandal  that  the Church can cause is not that she has sinners, but ceasing in calling the difference between good and evil by name, and to relativize it; ceasing to explain what is sin or trying to justify  what is supposedly a greater closeness and mercy towards the sinner."
On the  sacrament of marriage the Prefect says a marriage "may fail by no longer living together, or in   human expectations, but not the action of God, which is why the Sacrament does not fail as such."
The marriage is  "not an ideal, not a reflection of my desires, like a child who would like to be an astronaut ... ideals are often not realizable". The marriage is, however, "a God-given reality: the sanctification of the spouses and of life."

Gender ideology is man's attempt to put himself in the place of God

Cardinal Müller also takes a position on gender theory and repeats an effective statement of Pope Francis, with which he effectively summed it up when he spoke of "ideological colonization":
"Can we build a society without respecting the difference between man and woman?" asks the Cardinal. God wanted man as Adam and Eve, said Cardinal Müller, in gender ideology, man raises himself to God and determines for himself what and what is evil good.
