(Rome) Naples archbishop, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, has commissioned the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICRSS) the task of celebrating the Immemorial Mass of All Ages in the diocese and to take over the pastoral care of the faithful of the old rite.

The celebration of Holy Mass will take place Sunday and Feasts at at  6 o'clock in the Church ofthe  Arciconfraternita Santa Maria del Soccorso, the Archconfraternity of Mary Help of Christians, in the district of Arenella. The church is not to be confused with the parish church, which is a few meters away.

The Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest has sent two canons, Father Louis Valadier and the new priest, Father Florian Braun to Naples to meet with the Archbishop's request. Today, on the feast of Saint Januarius, the patron of Naples, the two priests took up their pastoral work.

With the appointment of the priests also ends the previous summer break in the celebration in the traditional rite, which was set for two months. It's a victory, and the faithful are very relieved as the Coetus Fidelium of Naples has announced.

The new Canon was ordained in 2012 for the Institute of Christ the King. Most recently he was scholastic and choirmaster at order's own seminary in Gricigliano in Tuscany. Canon Florian Braun is a very new priest, who was ordained last July along with another ten candidates for the Institute of Christ the King and Higher Priest.

The Church of the Confraternity was, after the publication of the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum to become the home of the faithful of the Roman Rite. The church is located in its pristine state. In contrast, the high altar dating from 1607 was demolished in the nearby parish church during the post-conciliar liturgical reform.

In the city there are three more Mass locations in the traditional rite according to the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum. Nowhere, unfortunately is the traditional rite allowed at a reasonable time on Sunday morning.

Cardinal Sepe: Whoever Wastes Food, May Not Go to Communion

Neapolitan archbishop: "God as the giver of life is offended"

Rome (kath.net/KAP) Catholics who throw away food, must not receive Communion according to Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe (photo). Whoever wastes food in the face of millions of hungry people, puts themselves outside of the human family, said the Archbishop of Naples in the context of an environmental conference, according to the Italian Catholic news agency SIR (Friday). This type of waste is insulting to the needy and to "God as the giver of life".

Furthermore Sepe refused Mafiosi and the operators of illegal dumps a right to communion. Whoever disposes of toxic waste in drinking water areas, commits "terrorist attacks against life," he said, If the person concerned shows no sign of remorse, "there is for them no sacraments in the Church." Sepe referred to his statement at the Camorra, who are engaged in large scale illegal waste burning between Naples and Caserta. "If I were building my life on the death of others as those who produce toxic waste, how could I dare then to go into a church and celebrate religious services?" raged the cardinal.

The region called the "Terra dei fuochi" ("Land the fire ") near Caserta received international attention mainly due to the best-selling author Roberto Saviano who wrote the book "Gomorrah" about the activities of the Camorra, the Neapolitan Mafia. In July, Pope Francis visited Caserta and condemned this crime and corruption. At his request, he said a Mass where the parents whose children had died of tumor diseases due to environmental pollution were invited. The service took place under special precautions.

Naples: Miracle of the Blood of St. Januarius Happened on Schedule

Cardinal Sepe made sharp criticisms of the most recent Mafia Crimes when he preached at the St. Januarius Feastday Service.

Rome (kath.net/KAP) At the time of the feast of St. Januarius, the legendary transformation of blood in Naples takes place again. Still, before the sermon of Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe during the Sunday Mass happens in the Cathedral he shows with the motion of a white drapery, the expected miracle. Finally, Sepe presented the ampules of the early Christian martyrs flowing blood to applause.

A delay or the absence of the miracle of blood will be viewed by the Neapolitans as a sign of foreboding. The enthusiasm of the Faithful was in any case damp during Sepe's sermon. Naples has lived on hope in the absence of bread, said the Cardinal to the Italian media afterwards. IN the meantime the city longs for a turning point; there is "neither bread nor hope".

Sepe rebuked mafia crimes in his description of the situation, from the massacre in Castel Volturno in 2008 to the cold-blooded shooting of the mayor of Pollica, Angelo Vassallo, two weeks ago. Further, he recalled also the difficulty of unemployment and the virus of organized crime. All of this goes together to make the region around Naples a land without hope, says the Cardinal.

Januarius, in Italian "San Gennaro", was, according to tradition, martyred in the persecutions under Diocletian on the 19th of September in 305. The stored blood of the saint is normally in solid form. His "miraculous" [doubting Thomas] liquefaction has been happening since the Middle Ages and occurs usually on 19 September, 16 December and on the Saturday before the first Sunday in May.
