According to media reports today, Aachen Auxiliary Bishop Johannes Bündgens has closed all his offices because of a criminal investigations against him. According to Cologne's Domradio, the Auxiliary Bishop is accused by the prosecutor of having accepted a six-figure sum from a person who may not have been mentally competent at the time the payment was agreed. Since 2006, Bündgens has been Auxiliary Bishop and Canon and is also the head of the administrative council of the Catholic relief organization missio in Aachen.
