Cardinal Burke Should Pay the "Market Price"

Cardinal Raymond Burke was deprived of his apartment in Rome by Pope Francis. When will Francis also "take away his salary"?

(Rome) Cardinal Raymond Burke received a "gift" from the Holy See last Friday at the beginning of the new liturgical year and on the First Sunday of Advent. The Vatican informed him that from now on he would have to pay a "market-rate" rent for his apartment in Rome or vacate it by the beginning of 2024.

The Holy See's letter is dated November 24. On November 27, it became known that Pope Francis, at the meeting with the heads of the dicasteries of the Roman Curia on November 20, declared that Cardinal Raymond Burke would "take away his apartment and his salary." The only thing that is disputed is whether Francis spoke of the U.S. cardinal as "my enemy" on this occasion or whether he used the word "enemy" at all. The Bergoglian Austen Ivereigh was outraged by this. Beyond this quibbling, however, the papal approach is unprecedented and shocking.

Burke, a highly intelligent and unwavering defender of the unabridged doctrine of the faith, has been a thorn in the side of the reigning head of the Church since the beginning of the pontificate. He seems to be Francis' personified opponent, which makes him feel the wrath of papal power.

The chronology of events:

• November 20: Pope Francis, meeting with the heads of the dicasteries in Rome, declares Cardinal Burke a non-person. Since he had already deprived him of all his offices, he would also deprive him of his apartment and his salary, according to the papal announcement.

• November 24: On papal instructions, Cardinal Burke is instructed to either pay for his own apartment or vacate it.

• Nov. 27: The Pope's new attack on the faithful U.S. cardinal leaks to the public. On the same day, the Bergoglian Austen Ivereigh lights a smokescreen and declares that the Pope never spoke of "enemy".

• November 28: Nicole Winfield of the Associated Press reports that Burke is being punished by Francis for being "a source of disunity in the Church," and Philip Pullella of Reuters adds that Burke is working "against the Church and the papacy," according to Francis.

• December 1: Cardinal Burke receives the notice from the Holy See, which is in fact a request to vacate his apartment near St. Peter's Basilica, because he is unwelcome there. [Just in time for Christmas!!]

4 December: The receipt of the Vatican's request for payment is confirmed and made public by the US media outlet The Pillar.

For information, the Holy See pays for the accommodation of the Curial Cardinals in Rome, if necessary of all Cardinals. However, the regulation also applies to numerous subordinate employees of the Vatican.

Cardinal Burke's Roman lodging is located near St. Peter's Basilica in a building that also houses other members of the College of Cardinals. While the Holy See continues to allow the other Purple Bearer, who lives next door to Cardinal Burke, to live for free, an example is being made of the American. Francis seems to want to demonstrate to everyone that Burke is an "outlaw."

Francis has brought about the absurd situation that Burke, as a cardinal, is now worse off than numerous subordinate collaborators and employees of the Holy See. The cardinals residing in Rome receive a monthly salary of around 4,000 euros from the Holy See for their tasks and merits. According to Roman real estate experts, this sum would not be enough to pay for Burke's apartment at "market prices" because of its prestigious location.

Since Pope Francis announced that he would also "take away the cardinal's salary," it seems to be the papal intention to expel Cardinal Burke from Rome in the first place. In the past few days, he had emphasized that he considered it "important" to be in Rome because of his duties to the Church.

Pope Francis: "Back to Yesterday? No!"

Pope Francis yesterday warned the representatives of the French-speaking communities in the world against "indietrism".

(Rome) Pope Francis yesterday received the participants of the Pastoral Days of the Communautés catholiques francophones dans le monde ( CCFM), the French-speaking Catholic communities in the world in audience. In his speech, the head of the Church addressed a topic that has been particularly important to him for several months: "Indietrism".

The neologism in Italian that Francis introduced into the language of the Church means "retrogression", "regression", in his words those who want to "go backward". Concretely, the Pope means the communities and believers of the tradition. “Indietrism” first appeared in his late spring addresses when Francis justified his motu proprio Traditionis custodes and called for its implementation. He made a direct connection with this.

He also incorporated the neologism into his homily, delivered on Tuesday, October 11, in St. Peter's Basilica on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the opening of Vatican II, saying:

“Yes, the Church must first be looked at from above, with God's loving eyes. Let us ask ourselves whether in the Church we start from God, from his loving gaze on us. There is always the temptation to start from self rather than from God, to place our goals above the Gospel, to let ourselves be swept along by the winds of worldliness and to follow the fashions of the times, to reject the present that providence has bestowed on us , and turn to the past. But be careful: Progressivism, which adapts to the world, as well as traditionalism or backwardness, which mourn the loss of a bygone world, are not proofs of love but of infidelity. They are Pelagian egotists that put their own preferences and their own agenda ahead of the love that pleases God, that simple, humble, and faithul love Jesus asked Peter about.

The remarks sound like an equidistant balance between “progressivism” and “traditionalism”. However, the reality is different, as shown by the campaign against tradition launched by Francis with the motu proprio Traditionis custodes .

In the Consistory Hall of the Apostolic Palace yesterday, Francis said to his Francophone visitors:

“The synod is not a parliament, I want to make that clear, it is something else. Why isn't it a parliament? Because the most important figure at the Synod is the Holy Spirit. We speak, but it is not a parliament. The synod is a moment of grace, a process led by the Spirit that makes everything new, that frees us from worldliness, from our closed-offs, from our repetitive pastoral patterns and from fear. He asks us to ask ourselves what God wants to say to us at this time, today, and in which direction he wants to lead us. God, what is he telling me today? Today, not yesterday. Don't be 'indietrists': back to yesterday. No, today, looking to the future.”

Bergoglio Grovels to Chinese Emperor but is Snubbed by Xi Jinping

 One historic meeting sought, another cancelled

On the flight to Nur-Sultan, Francis made an attempt to arrange a spontaneous meeting with Xi Jinping.

(Rome) Over the past three years, the Holy See has sought a meeting between China's Communist leader Xi Jinping and Pope Francis. There were also such efforts in the run-up to the Trip to Kazakhstan. However, the red rulers in Beijing waved this off. This recalls a parallel: while one historic meeting of Francis is being sought, another was canceled by him. Years of efforts by the Holy See to bring about a meeting between the Pope and the Russian Orthodox Patriarch of Moscow were successful in 2016. A second meeting was already fixed, but in this case, it was Francis who canceled it.

Philip Pullella, Reuters' Vatican correspondent, confirmed the latest development in Vatican-China relations:

"The Vatican has told China that Pope Francis is ready to meet with President Xi Jinping when the two were in the Kazakh capital, but Beijing replied that there was not enough time for a meeting, a Vatican source said Thursday."

The source did not elaborate, Pullella said, on how or when the Vatican approached the People's Republic of China, with whom it is "engaged in a delicate dialogue about the status of the Catholic Church in the country."

The Chinese side, according to the unnamed Vatican source, has always indicated that it "appreciates the gesture." However, Xi Jinping's scheduling did not allow a meeting. China's communist ruler was in Nur-Sultan on September 14 at the same time as Francis. Xi Jinping made his first trip abroad after more than two and a half years (Corona). First, he asserted in the Kazakh capital that the People's Republic of China is interested in a "stable" Kazakhstan. The People's Republic of China is Kazakhstan's most important foreign partner after Russia. In terms of exports, China is even the first addressee. Beijing has a stake in numerous Kazakh oil and gas companies, and the gas pipelines from Turkmenistan, which are important for China, run through Kazakhstan. Turkmenistan is the largest supplier of natural gas to Beijing.

Philip Pullella commented on a possible meeting between the Pope and "Emperor Xi":

"A meeting between the two men, no matter how brief, would have been historic." 

Historic would also be a visit of the Pope to Russia, which has been sought with much patience and emphasis since John Paul II. Francis seemed to be reaping the rewards when a first meeting with the Moscow Patriarch took place in Cuba in February 2016. Due to the territorial principle to which the Russian Orthodox Church adheres, the Pope's arrival on Russian soil has a significance to which fundamental questions are linked.

When asked about a meeting with Xi Jinping, Francis reacted briefly on the flight back from Nur-Sultan to Rome yesterday, saying only:

"I don't know anything about that."

  

On September 13, Francis had stressed on the flight to Kazakhstan:

"I'm always ready to go to China."

The extension of the secret agreement on the appointment of bishops signed in 2018 between the Holy See and the People's Republic of China seems to have been finalized since the beginning of September. The recent courtesies of Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning on September 14th confirm this. Mao Ning is one of several press spokesmen for the Beijing Foreign Ministry. At the daily press conference, asked about Francis' statement to be ready for a visit to China, she said:

"I, too, have taken note of the relevant reports and appreciate the friendship and goodwill conveyed by Pope Francis. China and the Vatican maintain good communication. We are also ready to continue our dialogue and cooperation with the Vatican and to actively advance the process of improving relations."

 

However, an official confirmation that the secret agreement has been extended is still missing.

Bergoglio's Contradictory Models for Cardinals

What connects Cardinals Casaroli and Nguyên Van Thuân, what makes them different?

On August 27, Pope Francis created new cardinals in St. Peter's Basilica, modeling them on two well-known more recent confreres.

(Rome) Pope Francis created 19 new cardinals during an extraordinary consistory on Saturday 27 August. For the first time in recent Church history, a cardinal uprising took place in midsummer. Francis suggested role models for the new wearers of the purple.

Three months ago, the head of the Church had unexpectedly announced a renewed expansion of the College of Cardinals, although the electoral body had not yet needed to be filled up. The maximum number of papal electors was expanded by Paul VI., but at the same time fixed at 120 cardinals. This number is now significantly exceeded.

More unusual was that Francis scheduled the consistory for the creation of cardinals in midsummer, fueling two kinds of speculation: his possible resignation or plans for renewed corona restrictions in the winter half-year (or concerns about such) that would make it difficult, if not impossible, for the College of Cardinals to meet.

All the cardinals-elect were present in Rome on Saturday, including Msgr Richard Kuuia Baawobr, the unknown bishop of Wa in Ghana. It was still possible for him to get there, but then he suffered a fainting spell, "something with the heart," said Francis, which is why his creation will only take place soon. A date for this has not yet been given.

In his homily, Francis named two deceased confreres as role models for the cardinals to aspire to - two quite contrasting churchmen: Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli (1914-1998) and Cardinal François Xavier Nguyên Van Thuân (1928-2002), Archbishop of Saigon in Vietnam.

Cardinal Casaroli, as the Vatican's top diplomat, was responsible for the controversial "Ostpolitik" towards the communist dictatorships. According to the official interpretation, the Holy See thereby eased the fate of the persecuted Church behind the Iron Curtain. However, this had its price: the Church remained silent on Marxism and its real-socialist derivatives. In fact, since John XXIII. a current in the Church, some of which openly sympathized with socialism and strived for the unification of socialism and Christianity. 

Cardinal Nguyên Van Thuân, on the other hand, was a victim of communism and was considered one of the "living martyrs". He had to spend thirteen years in a real-socialist prison belonging to his tormentors, from 1975 to 1988, when his release was obtained through diplomatic channels on condition that he go into exile. John Paul II called him to the Roman Curia and made him head of a dicastery. 

In his homily, Francis, in connection with Cardinal Casaroli, had Pope John XXIII. mentioned, while in the official text version of the website of the Holy See John Paul II appears. A Freudian slip of the tongue, as some Vaticanists thought with a smile?

How do two such contradictory moments in recent Church history fit together? This question was heard repeatedly over the past weekend. Pope Francis did not ask them, because the relationship to socialism that shaped both figures was not an issue. Cardinal Casaroli was mentioned by Francis because he frequently visited a prison for juvenile delinquents in Rome; Cardinal Nguyên Van Thuân for praying for his jailers. Both cases had pastoral aspects. The reasons and background why Nguyên Van Thuân had "jailer" remained hidden.

Pope Francis said:

"A cardinal loves the Church, always with the same spiritual fire, whether he is concerned with big or small issues, whether he is meeting the great of this world - he must do that, very often - or the little ones who are great before God. I am thinking, for example, of Cardinal Casaroli, justly famous for his open-mindedness, with which he accompanied the new possibilities of Europe after the Cold War with an intelligent and patient dialogue - and God forbid that human short-sightedness should close horizons from him again! But in God's eyes the visits he made regularly to the young inmates of a juvenile prison in Rome, where he was called "Don Agostino," are equally valuable. He practiced great diplomacy - the martyrdom of patience, such was his life - and at the same time he visited the youth of Casal del Marmo weekly.  And how many such examples could be cited! I remember Cardinal Van Thuân, who in another significant historical context of the 20th century was called to shepherd the people of God and at the same time inspired by the fire of Christ's love to care for the soul of the jailer who guarded his cell door. These people were not afraid of the "big", of the "maximum", but they also got involved with the everyday "small". After a meeting where Cardinal Casaroli reported to John Paul II on his last mission - I don't know, whether in Slovakia or in the Czech Republic, one of these countries, it was a question of high politics – the Pope called him on leaving and said: “Ah, monsignor, one more thing: do you keep going to these young prisoners?” – “Yes ’ – ‘Never leave them!’. The great diplomacy and the small pastoral matter. That is the heart of a priest, the heart of a cardinal.”

Bergoglio Meets Aberrosexual Transvestite Prostitutes of the Roman Markets

Pope Francis received a group of homo-trans prostitutes on Wednesday for the fourth time this year.

(Rome) The Pope has had four meetings with transgender prostitutes in the past few months, the Osservatore Romano noted, in order to ensure the latest encounter deserves due attention.

According to the Spanish daily ABC, Francis addressed homosexual prostitutes with “love, fatherliness and simplicity”. This corresponds to “the goal of the Church to restore these people their dignity by freeing themselves from the slavery that prostitution entails”.

Four transgender groups have already been received by Pope Francis in 2022. The most recent meeting took place last Wednesday, August 10th, during the general audience. The Osservatore Romano, the Pope's daily newspaper, who prefers the leftist La Repubblica. reported under the headline: "Revolution and Hope". 

Under Francis, the left-wing word “revolution” was hastily and inflationarily used in the Church as well. Nothing is more foreign to the Church than the revolution, whose archetype, the French Revolution, became the catalyst for the most radical attacks against the Church and the divine order and became the model for state terror.

Wednesday's meeting came about through the Comunità della Beata Vergine Immacolata in Torvaianica, a Roman seaside resort whose streets and beaches are rotten with gay prostitution.

The French nun Geneviève Jeanningros and the priest Andrea Conocchia take care of the transgender prostitutes who are coveted among homosexuals. Homo-prostitution in Rome, which is veiled under the term “transgender”, briefly came into the limelight when the then head of government of the Latium region, the left-wing democrat, Piero Marrazzo, lost his office in 2009 after a sex and drug video of him with a homo-trans prostitute had emerged.

Sr. Geneviève was also the driving force behind the previous meetings with Francis. She belongs to the Little Sisters of Jesus and is based in Ostia.

In April 2020, a few months after the start of the pseudopandemic, papal almoner Cardinal Konrad Krajewski sent “help to the homo-trans prostitutes of Torvaianica because they had lost their customers to Corona and were in a desperate situation,” according to ABC.

However, the aim of the community around Sr. Geneviève is to liberate the living “supply” for the homo market from the slavery of prostitution, as the Osservatore Romano emphasizes.

"The Pope's attention to people living in great suffering opens up unimaginable hopes."

 

According to Giampaolo Mattei in the Pope's newspaper, the way in which Francis received these people could "become a spark that stimulates a new life".

"And if that isn't a revolution! The Pope who receives transgender people in audience and addresses them with love, fatherliness and simplicity,” Don Conocchia is quoted as saying.

"No human being should be singled out, everyone has the dignity of being a child of God," said Sr. Geneviève.

The conversion of those affected is the immediate pastoral aspect. In addition to this, there are others: all in all, important things remain unsaid. Essential aspects of the problem of homo-prostitution are not addressed. The desired androgyny of the male prostitute is a direct answer to a request from the homosexual clientele.

Sin is the great absentee. It doesn't seem to exist anymore. Repentance is not shamefully called by its name, nor is witness given for it. Everything is reduced to the question of the "dignity" of the prostitutes who are presented as victims. To a certain extent, they undoubtedly are, but that is only one side of the phenomenon that cannot be done justice by looking at it in isolation. The. Church degrades itself to a social welfare association when, in leftist diction, it stylizes everything as a problem of oppression and discrimination, thereby ignoring the nature of man and sin.

In the climate of a forced homosexualization of public life, comparable papal initiatives can also send out wrong signals - when they are not even wanted.

Pope: “God made you gay”
