At least 20 clergy and several hundred of their parishioners are already lined up to join the Ordinariate, the new structure set up by the Pope a year ago that allows them to remain some of their Anglican heritage while entering into full communion with the Holy See.
But many more members of the Anglo-Catholic wing of the Church of England are likely to defect following a critical meeting of its governing body, the General Synod, if traditionalists who cannot accept the ordination of women are denied special provision.
The head of the Ordinariate, Mgr Keith Newton, told The Daily Telegraph: “There are in the region of 15 to 20 people who I think will be coming over this year. These are ordained Anglicans who wish to petition the Holy See for ordination.”

Hundreds of Anglicans to Join Ordinariate this Year in UK
Edit: heads up, "I"m ok, you're ok" ecumenism is dead. The Telegraph is reporting that "hundreds" of Traditional Anglicans are going to leave the Church of England after a General Synod generating more "reforms". Even more than before, the Church of England is becoming a museum piece. The Director of the Ordinariate, Msgr Keith Newton, warns, however, "you can't join the Catholic Church just to escape the problems in the Anglican..." It might not be reason in itself, but it sounds like a good place to start.

Hungary Bans the Anglican Church
Update: This was an exaggeration, but there is still a strange relationship with the Hungarian State as it tries to cut its funding due to shrinking budgets.
Editor: Who says you can't turn back the clock? It's fairly irrelevant in Hungarian society anyway. But you recall that Hungary invoked St. Stephen and called for a defense of life in its Constitution. How much longer before they restore the Monarchy?
Of course, they could skate under the ban by embracing the Anglican Ordinariate.
Church of England Newspaper
Hungary has introduced a new law governing the registration of religious groups that critics charge discriminates against minority faiths, and strips St Margaret's Anglican Church in Budapest of its status as a religious organisation.
On 14 July the Hungarian Parliament adopted "The Right to Freedom of Conscience and Religion and on the Status of Churches, Religions and Religious Communities" Law, by a vote of 254 in favour to 43 opposed.
Introduced on 10 June in Parliament, the proposed legislation would have created three tiers of religious groups, with differing authorities to conduct worship and engage in charitable activities under Hungarian law. Human Rights activists, NGOs and a number of religious leaders objected, arguing, in the words of the Washington think-tank, the Institute on Religion and Public Policy, the bill gave Hungary "a tiered system offering an inferior religious status to minority faiths that violates the right to religious freedom and the right to be free from religious discrimination."

The Anglo-Catholic Myth
In his recent article criticising my letter on the Anglican patrimony Anthony Reader-Moore makes the typical arguments that have marked those who adhere to the claims of Anglo-Catholicism. The claim that Anglo-Catholicism is the genuine tradition of Anglicanism, and that for over 400 years it has preserved a genuinely English variety of Catholicism, is an unsustainable assertion. It is simply not true. I will attempt show that it has no real continuity with the pre-Reformation Church or even the high Church tradition that emerged in the Protestant Church of England in the centuries after the Cranmerian reform.

Anglican Church in Crisis
Roger Gray / KETK News
December 11, 2009 - 10:18pm
The Episcopal Church is in a crisis. The election of a second gay bishop has many wondering about the future of the denomination…
More US Presidents have been Episcopalians than any other faith, but the modern church us splintering fast.
I’ll confess upfront, I am what is known as a cradle Episcopalian. And I like many Anglicans, wonder where the church is going…
In 2003, the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire selected an openly gay bishop, Gene Robinson, and ignited a firestorm in a denomination formed from the old Church of England right after the revolution.

Archbishop harangues Anglicans to Oppose Homosexual Ordination
THE Archbishop of Canterbury today called on American Anglicans to block the appointment of a lesbian bishop.
Dr Rowan Williams warned that the selection of a new homosexual bishop could push the divided Anglicans over the edge into full-blown schism.
The Archbishop spoke out after leaders of the Church of England's sister church in Los Angeles chose 55-year-old Reverend Mary Glasspool as an assistant bishop.
He said the choice raised 'serious questions' and warned it was a threat to the 'bonds' that tie 77million Anglicans together.
Canon Glasspool, who lives with her long-term partner Becki Sander, acclaimed her election as a victory for gay rights.
'Any group of people who have been oppressed because of any one, isolated, aspect of their person yearns for justice and equal rights,' she said.
