Happy Feast of Saint Thomas Becket

Edit: Saint Thomas suffered a posthumous martyrdom as Henry ransacked his shrine and declared veneration of Saint Thomas illegal. Despite Henry’s best efforts, and Cromwell’s, some 100,000 pilgrims a year come to pray at Becket’s shrine.

When Becket was martyred, the monks of his cathedral were saying Vespers with a large number of people present. How many churches, cathedrals or otherwise, host Vespers and Matins, even though it is called for by Vatican II?

Brethren: Every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in the things that appertain to God, that he may offer up gifts and sacrifices for sins: Who can have compassion on them that are ignorant and that err: because he himself also is compassed with infirmity.
