Really interesting. Even though the vast majority of today's Jews are not descended from the Jews of Palestine in the time of Christ, and the continuity of that tradition ruptured, they reinvented what the Jewish schools must have been like, or at least probably like. No private study of the scriptures for them, and rightly so.
