A Greek Orthodox priest heckled Pope Francis during his Saturday visit to Athens, shouting, "Pope, you are a heretic!" before being led away by police. The elderly priest fell to the ground as police grabbed him, but he appeared uninjured.
Reuters reports that the priest, who was dressed in black ecclesiastical vestments and a silver pectoral cross, shouted loudly enough for the pope to hear him. According to The Associated Press, Francis "appeared not to notice."
"The pope is unacceptable in Greece! He should repent!" the priest told reporters after being removed from the scene. The Roman pontiff proceeded to a meeting with Ieronymos, the Greek Orthodox bishop of Athens, who welcomed Francis with "honor and fraternity." Roman Catholics make up only three percent of Greece's population, according to the National Catholic Reporter. Greek Orthodox Christians make up over 97 percent.

Francis is used to this kind of niggling from the lunatic fringe. He's been putting up with it for years from the likes of Ray Burke and the rest of the now diseased Dubia Brothers, Herr Scbneider and their camp followers.
ReplyDeleteMore projection from Gaybrielle’s prolapsed HIV-damaged brain.
DeleteChristmas blessings to the good and holy orthodox priest who spoke the truth about Pope Francis and coal in the flat foot stockings of the police who arrested the priest.
ReplyDeleteWho cares what a bunch of schismatics think?
ReplyDeleteIf only paper tigre 🐯 Burke would heckle him.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Pete....but it's true. Bergoglio/aka Francis IS a heretic. And it was more than just one little aged Greek Orthodox priest calling him out. There were protests and demonstrations of pretty big numbers in Athens against Bergoglio the Heretic Pope....but of course, the media and Catholic press didn't cover it. They cover for Francis like they do for Biden et al.

ReplyDeleteShow us the evidence, Damian, otherwise people might rightly conclude that you're just making this up as you go along.
No idea that the numbers were that pronounced. Orthodox 97%, Catholic 3%. Would the Orthodox "buy a used car" from this guy?---I went to a Marine Corps funeral at a Greek Orthodox Church. The married priest came in from Michigan. He was the brave lad's uncle who was killed on patrol in Iraq. His jeep ran over a mine.---His comrades came into the service carrying his body wrapped in a blanket. Compare this to "pigs in a blanket, burn 'em like bacon". The Argentinian is also a "war hero". He fought the good fight of the grocery checkout lane.---It was JPII who was run over by a German troop truck and then shot by the Russians. In a world of "make believe", the Buenos Aires Rambo is sending in the "shock troops" of Christianity. His experience as a bouncer at a gay bar has given him the experience to "lead the 600 into the Valley of Death".
ReplyDeleteWas Pope Francis heckled because of his actual personal heresies, or was he heckled because the Greek Orthodox consider him a heretic because of the traditional dogmatic differences with Catholics?
ReplyDeleteIdk myself but I'm disgusted with this sudden "Orthodox are based" type of mindset among secular members of the so called "far right."
DeleteThe Orthodox are just as progressive and liberal as the Novus Ordo.
