Mattei Criticizes Viganò on Corona

Edit: this seems to be very much at odds with what he says in the translation at Rorate of his most recent essay on Coronavirus.  What next?  Is Mattei going to say that the Bishops can't condemn birth control and abortion because such statements lie outside their expertise?

[Gloria.tv] The Roman historian Roberto de Mattei critizised Archbishop Viganò's appeal against the Coronavirus regime.

De Mattei told Die-Tagespost.de (13 May) that it perplexes him when bishops comment on "health measures" taken by governments because this "exceeds their field of expertise." However, such a self-evident statement is hardly enough to disqualify the Viganò appeal.

Viganò made his only public appearance in recent years at a Munich rally organised by De Mattei, thus helping it to gain international fame.

  1. It is sad to see Traditional Catholicism dividing into factions. Bishop Vigano, as an individual, has as much right to voice his opinion as Prof. Mattei or anyone else. Will Prof. Mattei be attending the satanic inter-church service proposed by Antipope Francis this evening & join in fasting & praying with infidels & schismatics? Instead of God, His Blessed Mother, the angels & saints being central to our prayers, AF prefers to venerate the idols of infidels as we have witnessed to our horror at the close of the Amazonian Synod. This idol worship will bring utter catastrophe upon us all if allowed to be continually promoted, & I hold Cards. Burke, Mueller & Sarah principally responsible for the lack of courage & true leadership in standing with Christ against these demonic infiltrators who have been allowed by our prelature to usurp the Throne of Peter, causing the abandonment brought about by the invalid resignation of PBXVI.

LOL. yes. It is sad when those who putatively succor Bishop Emeritus Ratzinger continually repudiate him on his valid resignation.

  4. You are correct about the Brain troll, Anonymous 10:17 AM. He (she) talks out of both sides of his (her)mouth, pushing extremely aggressive views on this site while not daring to say the same things on Revd Hunwicke's site. He knows that the grumpy Oxford parson would boot him up the Khyber pass.

  9. Vigano & De Mattei are both support the novus ordo to the hilt as well as the "Pope." They're basically in agreement. The shut down of the mass is evdently Heaven' judgment of the Church & the world. The confusion attending these matters is also Heaven's judgment. The problem is not going out but the failure to go within. The Kingdom of God is within

  12. Fr.Vigano has not done anything personally in the way of being conditionally consecrated in trad-rite by a trad-rite Bishop + subsequently offering Holy Sacrifice of the Mass,Sacraments, pastoral counseling, etc for the traditional remnant.
ABS has a right to offer his opinions as we do.
I find myself disagreeing with him or her on a regular basis but we can all learn from each other.

  14. Prof. Mattei is an adherent of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP), which was headed by Plinio de Oliviera. Oliviera believed that Catholic clergy were compromised, and the the restoration of the Church would fall to the laity, especially laity who have connections to the nobility.

I don't know if this has something to do with Prof. Mattie's reasoning against Vigano. Just a guess.
