Grand Rapids Priest Refuses Communion to Evil Judge

[Detroit News] East Grand Rapids – The Roman Catholic Church in western Michigan is defending a priest’s decision to deny Holy Communion to a popular judge in a same-sex marriage.

Judge Sara Smolenski said the Rev. Scott Nolan privately informed her on Nov. 23, about a week after last receiving Communion from him at St. Stephen Church in East Grand Rapids. It has been her lifelong parish – she gave $7,000 for a building project – although she said she hadn’t regularly attended the church for months.

Judge Sara Smolenski Judge Sara Smolenski DALE G. YOUNG, DETROIT NEWS FILE “Why now and why me?” said Smolenski, a suburban Grand Rapids judge who married her longtime partner, Linda Burpee, in 2016. “How come all these other priests everywhere – good and decent, wonderful priests – they know me and they give me Communion?” Smolenski said.

  1. ...her longtime partner, Linda Burpee,...

Poor Burpee, she has no seeds and, thus, will never flower as a woman.

  2. This poor woman judge could not understand how this "weasel" would have the audacity to deny her a privilege which large numbers of priests and bishops had afforded her in the past.

  3. "Why me? Why me?" You actually don't know? You are breaking at least two infallible laws of the Church you claim to belong to. You are in a homosexual relationship with another woman for one. For another, your relationship is not a marriage, but a sin. What makes you think you can consume the body and blood, soul and divinity of Our Lord while you are in a state of mortal sin? What kind of judge are you when you display such ignorance of the laws of the Church, or if you do, who do you ignore them?

  4. Such a rare example of supporting Catholic doctrine especially by the Bishop. I have a medical doctor daughter in exactly the same position who receives Communion every Sunday with her female partner. This raises the question about what I should be doing about this situation. And at the moment that is to do nothing. Much better if her priest would refuse them Communion. For me to say anything would be to get a response that homosexuals are encouraged to receive Communion at her parish ant that the "Pope" is on their side. For parents to take this on the Church must be firmly on their side.

  5. A judge tried to take away my drivers license once because I drove after having too many DRINKS . I said to the judge “why are you doing this to me now, all the other good decent judges let me do it!”

  6. Yeah, Anon @ 6:18AM - it makes you wonder why the 'priest' remains 'in communion' w/his 'bishop' and 'pope' -- would those who employ him (and pay his retirement benefits) and teach the exact opposite of what he does receive 'communion' from his 'table'; does he profess union w/them in his mass "of the faithful"? What a hero opus devil! What you are witnessing is the complete breakdown of order in the Catholic Church. Priests, bishops, pope are all "independent" (protestant) of God and do whatever they want -- including apparently denying the possibility of repentance to those who aren't dead (!can't be buried in a Wheeling WV Diocesan cemetery!).

Bishop Brennan also said that Bransfield will lose his retirement benefits, and his !right! to be buried in a diocesan cemetery.
