Who’s Worse? Mirus Attacks Taylor Marshall — Thinks Denying Communion to Adulterers is Extreme

Edit: Jeff Mirus has been a horrible, but not very talented opponent of Catholic tradition for years. He’s been presiding over this really low energy website and he ranges from really flat-footed CUF [Catholics United for the Faith] apologetics and analysis. Now he’s taking shots at Taylor Marshall’s ironically named new book “Infiltration” by the Opus Dei publishing house, Scepter.  ( I used to love reading Father Diogenes on Mirus’ site.)

In short, it looks like Mirus thinks Opus Marshall is kooky and extreme for saying adulterers can’t receive Communion.

Since Opus Marshall has discovered the Masonic conspiracy, he’s talking about it like no one else has heard of it before. You’d think an Opus guy would have been to a Lodge meeting already....

Would the real Catholics please stand up?

Catholic Monitor has this take. He doesn’t seem to perceive the dance between two who are really on the same side. Mirus is absolutely “idiotic”.

[Catholic Monitor] It just makes you want to laugh when Dr. Jeff Mirus shrieks that Dr. Taylor Marshall's new book "Infiltration" and it's publisher Sophia Institute Press are not "sound" in their "Catholic editorial judgment."
(CatholicCulture.org, "Infiltration: An idiot's guide to the problems of the Church, May 31, 2019)

Mirus in his review of the book reviles Marshall and apparently the pre-Vatican II eleven Popes since 1738 for calling out "the secret machinations of the Masons" with his really funny attempt at trying to sound reasonable with his accusations in what appears to be a attempt to smear their reputations.

Here are some of his never ending name calling ravings which are so left-wing "crazy relative"-like you want to laugh:

- "idiot's"
- "absurdity of a crazy relative"
- "McCarthyism"
- "conspiratorial"
- "Catholic far-right"
- "Marian apparitions"
- "papal visions"
- "loss of sanity"
- "Satan's human tools"
- And on and on he goes in crazy left-wing relative-like shrieks...

  1. Mirus is also pig-ignorant of liturgical history. See my blog entry on the matter.

Generally speaking, Marshall is decent, although there's something just a bit hinky about his overall weltanschaung. Maybe it's the Opie, or maybe it's his noticeable ego.

Meh. I'll still watch his vids.

    1. I’ll say this, for an Opus Dei Guy, he’s better than Mirus and has changed his views lately, but he could do without slandering people, inmho.

  2. Mirus isn’t even a Catholic. Why we bother discussing these Protestants and their heretical drivel mystifies me. Mr. Mirus thinks he’s a Catholic when in reality he follows another religion entirely. Who cares.

  3. I just watched a video of 1 hr, 46 min by Taylor Marshall on Malachi Martin. He has a PhD and links to Texas A&M. He is arrogant and lacking in specific proof for any of his views which are emotional and non rational. Jeff Mirus is even worse. On two occasions, I received specific response emails from him personally which attempted to intimidate me with his vast knowledge.

    2. Gatekeepers? I don't understand your post. Sorry, my poor brain needs recharging.

    3. They control access to Catholic meaning and forbid access to people with heretical opinions, like people who will point out that Jews have always been the enemies of Christians. Rorate has issued its own anathemas on that score.

Well done. Will you now extend the expansive gesture towards the Jews, the 'historical enemies?' You might start a trend in Traddiedom.

    1. I’ve never once seen you address anyone other than in the most infantilistic way. The forum is for childlike adults, not childish nikolaitans.

These artless contributions don’t even make for
      good trolling.

  5. You're too busy deleting anything I write that challenges the presumptions and unsubstantiated assertions you and other trot out on this site. This practise of getting rid of the uncomfortable is one of the hallmarks of Trad mindset. There is not enough inner confidence or intellectual rigor to support the never ending agenda of wild allegations and aimless protest so when this is called to account, the guillotine is applied. It solves nothing but prolong the despair and unresolved rage.

    1. Plenty substantiated. Why don’t you start up your own website or head over to Gay, Tell blog. They’re your people and love psychological projection and precious infantile mincers.

    1. I think the intelligence and infiltration network established by the Soviets in the Catholic Church survived the fall and transformation of the Soviet State. There’s continuity there, most importantly, continuity with the overall structure historically which formed the Soviet Union in the first place and continues to pursue its goals.
