The former bureau chief of the Bishop Bätzing of Limburg had child pornography images on his service computer in the bishop's palace
Limburg (kath.net) As bureau chief of the Limburg Bishop Georg
Bätzing, he had stored child pornography on his service
computer.
The District Court of Limburg has issued a penalty order against the
married theologian and canon lawyer with a conviction to a total daily fine of
150 daily to 80 euros each.
The employee, who has since been released from the diocese, has
accepted the punitive order, he is thus considered to have a criminal record.
According to the Attorney General, the photos showed no brutal scenes,
but mostly children in sexual poses, reported the "Nassauische Neue
Presse." The diocese is now continuing a canon law case against its employee, at least until then he remains exempted from his work. The Congregation of the Faith is already involved in the lawsuit.
The permanent deacon and father of his own children had already told the "Nassauische Neue Presse", that he deeply regretted his offense and that he was undergoing therapy.
At the beginning of February 2017, the offices of the clerical employee in the bishop's palace and in the seminary had been searched, as well as his apartment.
The former office manager was the dean, he was a judge at the episcopal marriage court and training director of deacons. In addition, the 57-year-old was the president of the nationwide active consortium Permanent Diaconate, from which he resigned from office shortly after publicity of the first suspicions.

I know that child pornography is wrong. However, there are levels of guilt. Many individuals have a pre adolescent psyche and are merely curious.----With this individual being married and having children, I would find it hard to believe that he was a hard core abuser. Sexuality is a very complex issue.---Possession of child images should not be equated with pre meditated murder. It is all about "incomplete sexual development". That is what is destroying the priesthood.
ReplyDeleteIf these offensive paedophile porn pictures were downloaded and kept on the computer's hard drive, this was with the intent to watch them later many times complacently thus partaking in the disgusting sin of those who filmed them and made them available on line.
DeleteJesus uttered harsh words against any who scandalize these little children: “It is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea” (Mark 9:42)
JBQ, wow, you must be Bishop. I’ll gladly equate it to premeditated murder if it saves just one baby from this type of incomprehensibly horrifying nightmare. You horrify me.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: Thought that might horrify. Does premeditated murder or dismembering abortion horrify you in the same way? I asked a priest quite some time ago about watching horror films and injury to the psyche. He told me that horror films are a type of catharsis. Emotion is able to be vented to keep an individual from building up stress. Pornography is often used to treat sexual dysfunction.----Of course, of course, of course, child pornography is dangerous and rightfully against the law and deserving of incarceration. Nevertheless, legally there are levels of guilt. A priest in Kansas City was jailed for taking pictures of children on a playground. You have to look at the entire context before you start handing out the torches.---Actually, you horrify me for not being able to look at this from a legal perspective. You might try watching replays of "Criminal Intent" with Mariska Hargitay. They do a pretty good job at looking at the prosecution of such psychologically inept individuals. It does no good to judge through the lens of hysteria.
ReplyDeleteYou are a dangerous psychopath. Hopefully, your internet history is being followed closely by the proper authorities.
DeleteIf it were in my power to delete your comments, I would.
As it is, I will abstain from the blog.
Great argument.
DeleteJBQ , Have you ever looked at this from a Catholic perspective? it is common for looking to become touching and then onto an even a deeper and demonic level of sin. Furthermore , neurologists studying brain imaging in real time ,equate pedophilia and pornography with heroine addiction, reporting both habits are as equally hard to break.
ReplyDeleteMy impression is that the easy sentencing is pleasing to you indicating neither you or the Judge understand the dynamics of the perversion.
Bishop Lahey of Nova Scotia also received a light sentence of about 15 months for which he got time served.
