The English pop star, Paul David Hewson, more popularly known as Bono, received sacrilegious Communion in the Hand, despite not being a professed Catholic.
He was at a concert in Colombia and attended Mass at a boy's school there.

Bonehead, darling of the Useless Nations who thinks virtually the only thing that can save the world is increased access to contraception, is in fact Irish (born in Dublin's no-longer-so-fair city). He is so "with it" though that if asked, he'd probably declare himself a citizen of every nation and none.
ReplyDeleteHe is Irish and Catholic, albeit moderninst
ReplyDeleteNot since getting the OBE he's not.
DeleteBono is not Catholic (unless he has secretly converted and made no public announcement of the fact). He was born of a mixed marriage - Catholic father, Protestant mother - and as a child was brought up in his mother's faith.
DeleteI also recall him frequently making reference to his Catholic faith.
ReplyDeleteHe's a heretic like you, Gaybrelle.
DeleteSuch un-Christ-like comments here... and yet even you with hate in your heart and in your words are invited to His table.
ReplyDeleteYes indeed. Even they are invited to Cranmer's Table, to see and hear an immodestly dressed 50 year-old woman droning from the altar in the vulgar tongue. Even they, those hateful and judgmental hearts of stone which should be condemned, will be tolerated (if they shut up, hold hands and desecrate the Eucharist) in the ever evolving Novus Ordo Religion.
DeleteHow pharisaical.
DeleteHow self-righteous.
DeleteAnd how unctuously self-satisfied in your ill considered, pre-emptive judgment on another human being.
DeleteRead the Gospel and be surprised, Tancred.
What a smug gobsheit you are.
DeleteHe wasn't being self-righteous. He said nothing about his own progress in the spiritual life.
DeleteHe presumes to condemn others for doing what he does.
DeleteAnd he does this because he doesn't like what's being said.
DeleteSays the mind and soul reader.
DeleteHow very precious of you,Tancred. Like taking anti-anxiety medication, you just censor your way out of your discomfort. What has riled you so much about what some have written in this thread is that you have been caught out once again in dumping a load of rash judgment on a fellow human being who happens to be a Catholic who gives every sign of embracing the Gospel. You and the other moral tunnel-visioned bigots who follow you are being eaten alive by the canker of unresolved hated and rage for anyone or any view that is do not fit into the categories of nostalgia and restorationism to a “Golden Age” which never existed in the first place.
DeleteTancred, you condemn and censor others - both in the articles you publish and in the comments (I do see that you have deleted comments here...one can only assume because you don't "like what's being said"). You serve neither G-d nor Christianity in this work here. I originally found your blog when I was reading about sexual abuse by monks and respected that you spoke out as a Catholic. But coming here to your blog, I am finding such hate and ugliness, not just in your words but those of your followers as well.. it is quite sad.
DeleteI'm as tradi as they come, but the tone of this article is way out of line. I am no fan of politically correct popstars wo think the are the ones to save the world, bu the matter of fact is, that this man is a baptised Catholic. We cannot conclude from his public image what sins he has commited, let alone if he confessed them or not ! For all we know, he might have gone straight from the confessional to that communionline. That is not something you can tell from this picture.
ReplyDeleteYer man Hewson may indeed have received communion directly after going to confession. I hope he did. However, it would also be welcome if he now issued a public disavowal of comments he made just one day after a majority of the voters in three quarters of Ireland backed same-sex pseudogamy in June 2015. He declared, "On this very day we have true equality in Ireland because millions turned up to vote yesterday to say love is the highest law in Ireland. Love! … because if God loves us … whoever we love … then why can’t the state [recognize it]?”
DeleteDon't be stupid. He's a publicly professed Protestant.
DeleteImpossible! He wrote and still regularly performs that modern hymn 'Angel of Harlem'.
DeleteLol
Delete"Don't be stupid". How Catholic of you.
DeleteBono is not a baptized Catholic, nor has there even been public mention of any later conversion or Confirmation. Stop assuming he was baptized and raised Catholic simply because he is from Ireland. He was born of a mixed marriage - Catholic father, Protestant mother, and was raised in his mother's faith.
DeleteTbf, he was "raised" Catholic but veered off later into a weird prot cult group. He's never professed himself as Catholic in any public appearance or interview.
DeleteWas it validly consecrated?
ReplyDeleteIts a NO cookie. There was no sacrilege since there was no sacrament. The only sin is in simulating a sacrament thus mocking God. In the NO, Christ is reduced to serving the needs of Man.
DeleteOn the plus side, he did take his sunglasses off.
ReplyDeleteRecently he has made his faith more public, and perhaps he is a lapsed Catholic returning? The photograph doesn’t surprise me and I doubt it was a photo-op. More surprising was Alice Cooper acknowledging himself as Catholic, with the admission he kept that private during the height of his career.
ReplyDeleteCooper has always been a Baptist and he still is.
DeleteHe's not Irish Catholic, he's Irish protestor, the people my ancestors fought tooth and nail.
ReplyDeleteJohn O'
Bono is Irish alright he's from Dublin.......but if the English want him you can have him
ReplyDeleteHis father was Catholic ,his mother Anglican,he was raised Catholic.
ReplyDeletenominally so.
Deleteoooooo 'ding-dong'....rapier sharp wordsmithing there, Tex. You've bested me.
DeleteI delate you.
putz.
Like the people above, you have it backwards. He was born of a mixed marriage and raise din his mother's protestant faith, not his father's Catholic faith.
Deleteyou are indeed correct; I misread a badly-worded bio on him. It stated that the parents initially agreed to raise his older brother in the prot. faith, and the younger one (Bono) in the Catholic Faith, but they ended up raising him prot. too. Thanks for the correction...nice catch.
DeleteIf one is Catholic, one can with a straight face now say he supports immorality and can receive Communion thanks to Bergoglio...One may have gone to confession and been told... the priest will walk with you now...So where's the contradiction?
ReplyDeleteHe's Novus Ordo. What's the big deal?
ReplyDeleteKim
And you're a sede-vacanist cult groupie with no right to a voice on a Catholic site.
ReplyDeleteshe's got WAY more of a 'right' than you do Jack-hole.
DeleteSo says Sue, who was handed the tablets on the Mount.
Deleteno Jack-hole....that would be my brother, Moise.
Deleteand Tancred is spot-on....you are truly a smug gobsheit, but I would add 'wanna-be pedant', with very scant raw material from which to draw.
"u are truly a smug gobsheit". How Catholic of you.
Deletethat would be "you"
Deleteand you forgot "'wanna-be pedant', with very scant raw material from which to draw"
And yes, very Catholic of me...calling out truth in season and out of season, particularly destroyers of the Faith.
And a Bronx cheer to ya, Jack.
ReplyDeleteKim
He's not a Catholic. Like most protestants,he makes up his own rules about church and what Christianity is. Heretics shouldn't be receiving the Eucharist.
ReplyDeleteNevermind about Bono. At least he's looking somewhat reverent. The stance of the Catholic man behind Bono waiting to receive the Blessed Sacrament is really sad.
ReplyDeleteNO vesrments, NO stain glass window, NO congregation, NO reception of wheat disk. That photo in of itself does not portray one Catholic element. Its a Cranmer worship service. In addition, it doesnt matter what faith Bono holds since JP2 allows anyone to recieve the NO cookie according to his Canon Law.
ReplyDeleteBut but but----he was granted private audience with JP2 and JP2 tried on his famous sunglasses!
