Rome (kath.net) The Vatican has evidently blocked 8 churches in the Baghdad (Iraq). This is the story according to "International Christian Concern", an association which is committed to persecuted Christians. The churches were closed in May. A reason given was that the churches were hardly visited. After a visit by Catholic church representatives, the closure of the churches was decided upon. Christians have been persecuted in Iraq for many years. Large relief organizations have been trying for quite some time to ensure Christianity does not end in Iraq. Thus, 13,000 houses are being built by the Pontifical Foundation "Church in Need" in the Iraqi Nineveh plain.

Perhaps the churches are not been used because those who attended them are dead,of all the refugees coming into Europe how few are Christian, they seem to have been abandoned by the Vatican and aid agency's.
My comment would be similar. The parishioners are all dead. The Vatican can now turn them into mosques. Isn't that the goal of PF? If you merge two religious groups, then you will not have rivalry or conflict.---Of course, that would be like taking the triplet Siberian tigers from the Bronx Zoo and integrating them into the community at St. Patrick's Cathedral.---It is a fancy idea. Nevertheless, it just doesn't work. It is the "Minolta Effect". Reality is in the mind of the beholder.
Must be a bloody awful world of misery and hopelessness that you inhabit, JBQ.
It's no wonder you are so attracted to nihilism.
Since when was full attendance required to keep a Church open ? Is there no hope for future generations that may need them ?
Thumbs up JBQ.

...finally a voice of clarity.
Thanks for posting
The only person that had to attend those churches was the priest. Now the attendance went from a few with the hope for more, to absolutely zero.
jeeeeeeeze Tancred....you really gonna let the feces-for-brains feybriel take over the combox of every post you make again? he's more that tiresome.
'wilderness of pain'....PERFECT moniker for you. And for everyone who comes into contact with you.
As someone who is Irish, we all know what "bloody awful" connotes. @Jim P is a Brit with all of its goodness and evilness.
I usually delete, but sometimes people respond to him and the responses are too good.
If anyone is a nihilist it's feybriel and his clerical betters in Newchurch.
Because of course they did.
Besides, Tancred loves to associate with intellectuals. His quiet disdain for shrill Harpies and Bog-trotters is legendary.
Lim P....once again shows he has no understanding of definitions. Nice job ya fop.
Charming. No wonder the churches are empty and not only in Bagdad.
#nonsequiturmuch?
I think the empty churches in Baghdad are because all of the Christians have been neglected and murdered by the Muslims and the Pope's failure to lead Christendom to any effective and lasting solution.
Wrong as usual, you malignant puff.
I have a LOT more sympathy for working class Irish Catholics living in UK than I do for posh, recusant toffs.
Women are wonderful.
Christendom has been finished for a thousand years, haven't you heard? What you and your pals are projecting is your own silly royalist version of the insular Benedict option which defines Catholic identity in terms of opposition, enemies and any kind of cultural or social difference. The tune sounds very much like an old marching song in Israeli army boot camp: "The whole world is against us!"
This distorted Church militant nonsense has warped the trad mind almost beyond healing.
I agree that women are wonderful with the exception of the resident whining Harpy who, like you, is quick with the dismissive insult but couldn't sustain a rational argument to earn her dinner.
"Bats!"
yeah...that's a really penetrating, rational argument against cogent points, you self-important, preening, nancy. You have neither the intellectual firepower to make a decent point, not the moral acuity to grasp one made.
You're worse than a rosica, or a sorondo, or even a paglia. Those snakes show their faces; you spew spiritual poison behind false and varying names...a rock throwing nancy; no better than the ISIS wanna-be's that speckle their cancer across former Christian lands they've raped to death, killing the Truth and the Light in their crooked path.
nancy's too nice a word for you; and I'm too much a lady to tell you what I really think. Sell heresy someplace else ya snake...'francis' has us all filled up here. Maybe you could try the episcopalians...I hear gene robinson's looking for a new partner...and I bet he'd even let you wear the dress.
QED. Sirach 22: 14-15.
Psalm 58.
Go to bed feybriel...you're drunk.
Gaybrielle, you maintain rational discussions? That's a laugh riot.
Susan hits on something, I think, that you really have to be a moral degenerate to defend people like Bergoglio's circle, and attempt to present them as benign and unjustly treated by the mean, retrograde "trads".
The 'trad' line being promoted on this site has very little to do with the via media of Catholicism but rather a great deal to do with a very eccentric form of sectarian time frozen 'Catholicism' that probably ceased 'thinking with the Church' about eight or nine hundred years ago.
Bergoglio is not your problem, Tancred, it's your inability or refusal to learn from what has been going on for centuries in the interplay between Church and the secular world around it.
The German exegete and religious sociologist Gerd Theissen, accurately describes what happens when all the pent up rage, resentment, venting and grief at failure to adapt are inverted and intensified in people's minds and souls.
It eventually erupts in some sort of protest either peaceful and constructive or violent and destructive. What goes on in this forum is largely the latter.
And, who on earth are feybriel and Gaybrielle? Expressions of the the hopeless, futile rage I think.
"The German exegete and religious sociologist..."
^^there^^; in a nutshell.....literally.
The "gay" line being promoted by Feybrielle and his heroes is a noxious weed that is indefensible using reasoned arguments, so they resort to emotional appeals, and personal abuse disguised as well-intentioned psychological analysis. When the petty adherents of this theologically noxious hybrid are rightfully ridiculed and made small, they become very haughty and furious indeed.
You haven't engaged reason to answer but rather you have chosen to validate exactly what Theissen is saying. Both you, Tancred and the prissy one, react not respond.
This is a profound weakness in the trad psyche. You need to work on it.
aaaaand again....your brilliant response to truly brilliant, reasoned arguments has been, and I quote,......."Bats!"
ya got nuthin'...'cept for a tarnished tin tiara. You and your ilk are exposed as the naked, noxious charlatans that you are, leaving spiritual wrack and ruin in your wake, and you just can't psychologically handle the fact that people are wise to your heterodox shtick. Get used to it dumbass...we're the real resistance, and like it says in Revelation, your side loses.....BIGLY.
(ps...fey old buddy...ya might wanna use someone with a little more actual cred than theissen next time...the German church, and those responsible for it's massive fall from grace, aren't the optimum posterboys for the 'hermeneutic of continuity'.)
brilliant.
Susan is simply magnificent! This is the kind of fighting spirit we need to battle these putrid heretics. RCC
All going according to Bergoglio's plan of destruction and treasonous caving to the Muslim hoards. What a judgment awaits him and his accomplices!
