Pope Francis Visits Pope Benedict With the Neo-Cardinals in the Monastery

(Rome) The Consistory where Pope Franzcis created 17 new Cardinals on Saturday, brought two innovations.
The head of the church renounced the previous practice, which Francis himself had cultivated during the cardinal ceremonies of 2014 and 2015, to spend the two days before, together with the cardinals who came from all over the world.
The deletion of this point was considered an attempt by the pope to avoid "embarrassing" situations. Since it is considered obvious that the pope does not wish to address the ambiguities in the controversial post-synodal Letter Amoris laetitia, this  could embarrass him with the Cardinals. The four signatories of the formal objection against Amoris laetitia are also in the College of Cardinals. But other Cardinals may ask the Pope for information or clarification to the Dubia  (doubts) of the four cardinals Brandmüller, Burke, Caffarra and Meisner.
The second innovation was a visit by Pope Francis with the Neo-Cardinals at Benedict XVI. the monastery Mater Ecclesiae .
The reigning pope led the 17 newly created cardinals to the Vatican Gardens to give his official predecessor a courtesy visit. The same had not happened so far.  At the express request of Benedict XVI, , the former Pope personally took part in 2014 and 2015  in the Cardinal Consistory in St. Peter's.This should signal continuity. The role of Benedict XVI. remained, however, that of an extra for the eyes of those present and the lenses of the photographers and comedians.

Benedict XVI had declined participation, this time for age reasons. For this reason Francis led the new Cardinals to the monastery.

The corresponding pictures were published by the Vatican. ROMEreports reported on the visit.

  1. Poor, poor Benedict....how far have you fallen? One need not have to guess where Dante would've placed him (and Francis)!

    1. Frankly, I still wonder whether emeritus Pope Benedict is, if not in initial stages of senility, being given without his knowledge mild dosages of Valium or some other such pharmaceutical.

  2. It's seems (I could be wrong) these 2 are trying to incorporate an Orthodox type structure in a very subtle way.

    1. As someone who is Orthodox, what do you mean by that? Not being sarcastic, but genuinely curious :)

    2. The novus ordo would have patriarchs instead of one "Pope" (hypothetical)

    3. Well of course this whole mess was done specifically to attack the office of the papacy. Malachi Martin warned of this attack 25 years ago and now we have it. Attack the power of the office, the successor of Peter, make him just a regular Joe. It won't work of course, there is a powerful, holy pope coming next but Francis is trying.

    4. Personally I think the attack on the papacy began in the 1950's.

  5. I have many questions, but the biggest one is, why was it so important for Pope Benedict to bless the new cardinals? Is it because he is still the real pope? When Francis came to Philadelphia for the World Meeting on Families, Archbishop Chaput presented him with a tapestry or some work of art that would be incorporated into the cityscape, anyway Francis signed it simply 'Francis'. He may give off little hints here and there that he isn't really the Pope, but that Benedict is.

  7. Every time he does stuff like this riding the bus like a common man, it's an attack on the papacy, don't think for a moment he doesn't know what he's doing.

  8. Anyone else notice whenever he gets in a little hot water such as the recent Dubia, he goes and visits Pope Benedict for a photo op? Hmmm.

  9. at 32,looks like our Holy Father, Benedict is being queued. I wonder what type of mind control is being used?

  10. Just look at their hands. Francis can't even make proper gestures while giving a blessing. Disgusting.

  11. It actually looked like Francis had to prompt Pope Benedict to give the blessing. Look how pleased Francis was after Pope Benedict gave the blessing, like a spoiled brat that just got his way.
