Curial Archbishop Piero Marini was an assistant to the architect of the post-conciliar reform, Annibale Bugnini. In the night of October 31st, he suffered a severe stroke. |
And thou hast girded me with strength unto battle; and hast subdued under me them that rose up against me.
(Rome) Curial Archbishop Piero Marini suffered a stroke in the night of 31 October. He is in the hospital Anna Rizzoli Ischia. The condition of the 74 year old Church representative is considered critical. Today a transfer to the Gemelli Hospital in Rome could take place.
On the morning of October 31, Don Antonio Angiolini, the pastor of the Good Shepherd on the island of Ischia, found him lying on the floor of his room. The Archbishop has been hold up for some time on the island, which he has chosen as a second home.
His appointment this last October 28 by Pope Francis as a member of the Roman Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments was only just announced.
Piero Marini spent 20 years under John Paul II, as the papal master of ceremonies.
Marini, who was ordained a priest in 1965, is a student of Curial Archbishop Annibale Bugnini, the architect of the post-conciliar liturgical reform. Marini worked as Bugnini's secretary and worked directly on the implementation of the liturgical reform. The reform relies on the Second Vatican Council, however, there were theoretical and practical innovations, which are not covered by the Council.
Pope Benedict XVI., therefore, did not confirm Piero Marini as master of ceremonies. It was a decision about which the archbishop has held a grudge even till today. Some see Pope Francis' hand played in his selection to the Consultors of the Pontifical Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Pope. After the election of Pope Francis, Marini explained, satisfied: "You breathe fresh air. It is a window that opens to spring and hope. So far we have breathed the bad air of swampy suffocating waters."
Piero Marini, since 2007, has been the President of the Committee for International Eucharistic Congresses, who has often been seen in the past three and a half years at the morning Mass with Pope Francis in Santa Marta. He is a constultant of the Pope in liturgical matters.
Pope Francis appointed Piero Marini Chairman to the Special Commission for the Liturgy in the Roman Congregation for Eastern Churches. It's a decision that was met with skepticism by experts.
His appointment as a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship is seen as part of an experiment, to thwart Cardinal Robert Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation in his aspiration for a "reform of the liturgical reform."

maybe we should pray for him or something.
And give thanks.
Looks like the Master is waking up in the belly of the boat.
If I were francis, I'd be shaking in my shoes; he purged the CDW of true shepherds and appointed wolves, but our Lord appears to be answering the flock's begging to cleanse the Temple...is this the beginning?
If the earthquakes of Norcia knocked over St Peters would the defenders of Papa Bergolia finally understand a chastisment is coming, long past due and completely deserved.
Well, he may not be in a position to 'contribute' to the CDW then.
Interesting that he had the stroke on Halloween. Is Someone sending a message?
Going home to his father, unless he repented.
Oh he's shaking you can guarantee that. He's already fell on his face literally a few times due to that brain tumor he has, he could repent, I pray he does. But he was too afraid to be in the big spooky papal apartment and be haunted because he knows what he's done. So he has to live in a renovated (at cost of several millions) apartment with people all around so he doesn't feel so scared. If he were an honest, Godly man he's be at peace to sleep like a baby anywhere.
It's even more interesting that it occurred the same day that horrible declaration was signed.
I have long considered Archbishop Piero Marini as an enemy of the Church. I pray God restore him to good health and that he especially repent of having undermined the Church of God. There is no one who has sinned so much that if he repents the ocean of God's Mercy will prevail.
and his old boss, JPII.
Lightning, earthquakes, strokes, Lund, Halloween...
What a picture.
May our Lord restore him to health, both spiritual and physical.
Impossible. I asked my uncle, who is a cardiologist, but naturally knows a great deal about other illnesses and disease.
He said that the fact that Marini was found on the floor is especially bad....especially if he had been laying there for hours. Every second counts with a stroke...the longer one goes unattended, the greater chance of severe brain damage (swelling, bleeding etc.). Even a minor stroke is a very serious affair....but this sounds like a big one....major and severe.
My uncle said that people...even young people...generally DO NOT survive after such a stroke, even with the bet of care. The fact that Marini appears to have been unattended for an unspecified time is very bad. If he survives at all, and that is unlikely if the report is accurate, he will be either comatose( in a semi-coma), or bedridden and paralyzed. If he survives, he may also need to be sustained my life support....as was the late Prime Minister of Israel, Ariel Sharon who suffered a massive stroke, but was kept alove by life support for years with the hope he might regaiun consciousness, etc. Sharon lived as long as he did because he was treated immediately.
Even if Marini survives, regains consciousness etc., and is able to swallow and eat, he will probably be an nvalid the rest of his life and need 24 hrs. care in a nursing facility.
His new posting is now an impossibility. For all intents and purposes, his career in the Church is over.
He probably will last as long as that Capuchin friar who persecuted the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate so badly under orders from Bergoglio. He died of a similar stroke similar to Marini. He lasted 1 week.
Pope Francis increasingly doesn't look good either.

I forgot to mention the other complications that Marini probably will face, which combined with the stroke itself, will probably lead to his death very shortly. My uncle said that very many elderly people who have these kind of strokes within a few days also often develope multiple organ failure (heart, kidney, liver), as well as unstable blood pressure and the threat of another stroke on top of it all. My uncle said that it is likely that Marini had what is known as TIA's (tran ischemic accidents-- small mini-strokes) before this major stroke. Except for a feeling of momentary dizziness or light headedness, he might not have even been aware of it. A TIA is sometimes the harbinger of a full stroke(minor or severe), within weeks or months. Also some people who are compromised with CHF(congresitve heart failure), also suffer minor or massive strokes. I don't know if Marini has a history of heart trouble, but CHF and what my uncle called atrial-fibrillation(irregular heartbeat), also can trigger massive strokes, or heart attacks.
He said that in the days that follow, aside from the stroke Marini's greatest danger is 1) renal(kidney) failure, 2)irregular heart beat(or a full blown heart attack), 3)pneumonia. A combination of 1 or more of these alone with the sroke would trigger multiple organ failure and death within days.
Although I know what we all think of Piero Marini, pray for him, because neither I or any of you would want to go thru any of the above...which is likely for him.
The only good thing (if there is one with problems like this), it that my uncle said that Marini will probably be under massive sedation, or a medically induced coma...so that he will not feel anything at all.

I believe that. That picture of the JP2 memorial in Poland one year after his death where his outline appeared in flames..spooky.
Thanks damian for the info, yes lets all pray for him.
Very interrsting indeed that the persecutor of the immaculate friars had such a similiar fate
I cannot believe that you people who proclaim yourself " the good catholics" are making those comments about a human being. God is Love and Mercy and what a read in your comments is far, far away from God. May our dear Lord have mercy on you all.
Glad you got it out of your system.
I feel sorry for you Tancred.... I only going to say that
Your self-indulgence in moral superiority is probably reflected in other areas of your life, ice cream and inactivity.
Hahaha....are you ever wrong.... Stop judging people who you don't know, just because they may think different that you do.
Ahh.... and I don't like ice cream and I am a active and slim... hahaha.
This is pathetic!
If you say so, sweetie.
