Schönborn: No Understanding Why There is Resistance Against Pope Francis

Cardinal in prayer for peace in the cathedral: People are grateful world that Francis "exemplifies the Gospel", within the church, there are hostile - Call for "patience" for Vatican ruling on Medjugorje

Vienna (kath.net/KAP) Cardinal Christoph Schönborn has expressed shock at the resistance from Church circles against Pope Francis: "It hurts me that he faces so much hostility - within the Church. What is this? He is the successor of Peter! He's the pope!" said the Archbishop of Vienna on Tuesday in his homily during the Medjugorje prayer of peace, "Message for you" in the cathedral. Many people in the world are grateful for the witness of Pope Francis. "For his kindness and his love for the poor and the fallen. It is the gospel that he teaches us," said Schönborn.  To learn that the Pope is receiving "so much resistance" from his own ranks, was completely incomprehensible to him. It is important to pray for the Pope.

Regarding the so far not carried out confirmation by the Vatican for the alleged [and heretical] Marian apparitions in Medjugorje, the Cardinal called on the faithful to be patient. You should "persevere and remain faithful in prayer and intercession," said Schönborn, and continued: "I think to myself, God knows why he is linked to Medjugorje, so patience requires of us thus our heart is willing.. " As one of the positive consequences of the events of Medjugorje, Schönborn described the emergence of numerous prayer groups around the world and also in Austria. It was particularly noteworthy that these groups since their inception in the 1980s - the Viennese Dominican Church was then a starting point - would largely continue to exist to this day, said the Archbishop of Vienna.

The Medjugorje prayer groups were the focus of this year's Peace Prayer again with around  4,000 believers who had come to St. Stephen's Cathedral. Currently I am tempted to link the dozens existing groups in Austria with each other more, explained Christian Stelzer of the prayer community "Oasis of Peace", who had organized the prayer for peace.

  1. With all due respect, His Eminence needs to re-read Pastor Aeternus from Vatican I while states:

"For the holy Spirit was promised to the successors of Peter not so that they might, by his revelation, make known some new doctrine, but that, by his assistance, they might religiously guard and faithfully expound the revelation or deposit of faith transmitted by the apostles."

  2. The arrogance of idiots like the vast majority of the hierarchy is simply astounding. Schonborn is not retarded, as one would have to be not to understand how insulting this freak, heretic, thug Jorge Bergoglio is to those of us with real deep wounds for having tried to remain faithful as the same perverts have destroyed our families over the past three to four decades.

Schonborn is lying through his teeth. The man has absolutely no shame, much less any honor. He is a disgrace to his parents and is unfit to take care of toilets much less care for souls! Resign you damn infidel and take Georgie Porgie with you.

      LOL I am rolling!!

    4. I wonder if Jorge has ever sat down, spoken with and actually listened to a faithful abandoned spouse, or their adult children? Say, one who has twice faced off against tribunals and defended a valid sacrament, with more than twenty years between the two defenses, yet remains faithful and has, from before the divorce, which was encouraged and REQUIRED by the Catholic Church in America, sought the intercession, before and throughout the entire period of my wife's, continuing and unrepentant adultery, of the Catholic Church to work to heal the marriage, but has been ignored for more than 27 years?

Why? They have my contact information. It has been used to let me know when it was time to defend our marriage before many sets of judges. What gives?

Are there any "insiders" who read this blog who can give me answers based upon real knowledge, not educated guesses or conjecture?

Why do I have to defend our marriage, but the Catholic Church will not lift a finger to heal it, even when, REPEATEDLY FOR YEARS, being asked to?

If there are no answers forthcoming, then what is marriage for anyway? If it is not worth the effort of the Catholic Church to work to heal it, then a defense of marriage seems pointless.

It has become a joke. Marriage seems an archaic institution that is not worth the effort to preserve or defend. That is, exactly, what is being taught, through long practice, by the hierarchy of the Catholic Church.

I am a personal witness to it since 1989 and counting.

Is there not someone who reads this blog, who can get this post to Jorge Bergoglio? Or, is it already known to him and he simply does not care?

  3. Sigh, a Schönborn who is for schlong union etc surely cannot be expected to see in the eyes of the Faith, right? Oh you natural union bigots and triumphalists!

  4. Cardinal Shaboom is about as Catholic as an old pair of boots. Zero doubt he is a free mason. The medjugoofy shtick is way over the top. He had Ivan the 'seer' streaming the BVM to bless sacramentals via the internet last year from his cathedral. A diabolical disorientator of the highest order. I wonder if he still parties with Card. Law? His smirk is just too much. He is a clerical Eddy Haskel on steroids.

  6. It would seem that the gates of hell have already prevailed against the "Church." So logically speaking this is no longer the Church and likely has not been since Vatican 2. This is the time to find yourself an independent chapel
or priest who rejects the new church. This is not a comfortable or easy thing to do. I am making the transition but struggling with the loss of friends and social life my local parish provides not to mention the long costly haul to the independent chapel. Also, expect to be spurned by Vat 2 church friends. Not fun. But neither was the crucifixion.

    1. I wouldn't go to anything independent unless you want to be a sedevacantist and outside the Church. There are TLM's said by priests everywhere nowadays and you can find a SSPX mass as well. The independents not affiliated with the SSPX or a diocese are outside the Church, not a place you want to be.

    2. Yeah but back to that pesky old "the gates of hell shall NOT prevail". So IMHO you should find a TLM and stick there. Even attend once a month if it's too far, and do your best with the local selections.

    3. Our Lord Himself said that the gates of Hell will NOT prevail against the Church. That doesn't mean that the Enemy won't do his utmost - he's been trying to do that since the Garden of Eden.

O my God, I firmly believe that Thou art one God in Three Divine Persons, + the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost; I believe that Thy Divine Son became Man, and died for our sins, and that He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the Holy Catholic Church teaches, because Thou hast revealed them, Who canst neither deceive nor be deceived.

  7. As one of the authors of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Cardinal Schonborn should know only too well why there is so much unease about Pope Francis, who is not only trying to change long-established doctrine that has Dominical foundations, but is pushing his own questionable political/ideological agenda as though it has dogmatic force. From having been a strong defender of the Deposit of Faith, Schonborn is now just resorting to papolatry.

  8. Even the New York Times is highlighting the failure of Pope Francis. Please see American Catholic blog: http://the-american-catholic.com/2016/09/29/popewatch-has-francis-failed/

  9. I do not believe that the opposition of tens of millions, and most of the ranks of faithful Cardinals, bishops and priests in the Vatican and around the world to his agenda bothers Pope Francis one second. He is an ignorant, loud-mouthed radical liberal ideologue who would run roughshod over the traditions of the Church and those who support them ....if he didn't also realize he would cause a schism.
There was an article in the NYT this week, posted on the internet which wondered out loud if Pope Francis was a failure, because he has not been radical enough in his agenda. They claim he has done nothing...which is a disappointment to so called "millions".
All good and faithful, traditional Catholics know full well the damage in the Vatican and the Church he has done. But the good thing is that at nearly 80, he will be gone soon.....and so will all his advisors who are old men as well.
The next Pope will be far different that Bergoglio. He will perhaps be to the right of Benedict XVI in his outlook on the Papacy and the Church.
Schoenborn, if he's still slithering around, will have to back hp his words of loyalty to the Papacy, when it's a orthodox, hard-line traditional Pope new to the throne of Saint Peter. To profess loyalty to that new kind of Pope would probably kill a guy like Schoenborn...and all like him.

    1. I don't think that article felt he was a failure because he hasn't been radical enough. That is not the interpretation I had, but that he has caused much confusion.

    2. I wish I could share your optimism that the next pope will be different from the present one. Through his power of appointments and promotions he is in a position to stack the membership of the next conclave.

  10. This will all come crashing down on them...God will not be mocked. At Adoration last evening, I opened up randomly (but not coincidentally) to and read Psalm 36 continuing thru Psalm 37...my soul was put at great ease.

These evil men will not stand for long. God will not be mocked.

  11. The pressure, ridicule, mocking, correction, admonishment, outrage, disgust should be levied relentlessly at Schonborn, Bergoglio, and all the rest of the modernist buffoons occupying Holy Mother Church. It must not stop and must increase, to be exceeded only by our prayers, fasting, and penance. It is our moral duty.

    Souls are at stake.

  12. This man is clearly disorientated if not simply duplicitous. A scandalous sycophant.
The heterodox within Roman Catholicism cling to the current structure in order to claim the credibility provided by its pedigree. That is the best that can be gleaned regarding their intention. The financial security provided by the institution they debase is vital for the inauguration of their new and improved Franzneukirche and ultimately to their personal security.
The tactics employed by this connivance over the last fifty years appear all too apparent to those of us who live in the Church – disparage, distract, deceive, disarm, defeat. This is their arsenal in their attempt to undermine the papacy and, once done, refigure the office to suit the purpose of the new “church” they are confecting. Those who respect the papacy are thus demoralized, neutralized. Wielding boldly “evangelical obedience” as a weapon, and subconscious appeals to loyalty to silence orthodox, pious and devout clergy, religious and laity, the vipers are having their way. How is one to defend the papacy when it has been debased intentionally – and from within? It is urgently necessary for those who can to call a halt to the works and the pumps now set in motion to render impotent the Church of Jesus Christ.

  13. Something that is strange and hypocritical, is that those such as Shoenburn and Wuerl demand obedience to our Holy Father Pope Francis. Demanding this after decades of them being a thorn in the side of the Church. They made the Papacies of St. John Paul ll and Pope Benedict XVl miserable, with their outright disobedience. Now they demand obedience to our Holy Father?? Pack of dishonorable Prelates!!!

  16. Schonborn. This was the name, the very first name made known to me when learning of the apostates and heretics who have infiltrated our holy Church. That was twenty years ago. He was amost alone in that reputation then. And now they are legion and he has become their poster boy.

  17. It really isn't surprising that the Graf von Schönborn endorses the heresy of Medjugorge; the Gospa variously threatening the life of the local Ordinary or claiming that all religions are valid. I can never work out whether it demonic or a fraud (there none of the trance like state of approved visions and seers are very rich, which can be compared to the utter poverty of those who did see Our Lady), or perhaps both.
