[Vancouver Sun] This is how retired radical Vancouver Island Bishop Remi De Roo, 92, is being described by St. Mark’s College on the UBC campus, which is hosting his talk Thursday evening:
“Bishop Remi J. De Roo is the last surviving bishop to have participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council, which spanned 1962 to 1965.”
“A self-described “pilgrim” of the Council in the years since its closing, he has kept alive its goal of aggiornamento – the renewal of the Church as it relates with the world.”

Isn't Msgr. Joseph Cdl. Ratzinger a surviving bishop as well?
ReplyDeleteHe was a Peritus.
DeleteOK, so he was on the fast track, and didn't end up Marx. Wasn't he as full of the "Spirit of Vat. II?" Maybe he was even more so, and it is coming out now that he has renounced the Papacy.
DeleteHe was a Peritus to Cardinal Frings of Cologne, and loved wearing suits there, also sidekick to his guru Fr Karl Rahner SJ.
DeleteOh, and news flash question of the day to Bp. De Roo, promoted way ahead of time so he, and so, so many others never could advance emotionally or intellectually: When is it time for the aggiornamento of the aggiornamento? Maybe you can consult with one of those retired bishops from upstate New York, or even Europe, that is, if you can coordinate nap times.
ReplyDeleteIts a shame the Vatican doesn't allow this bishop to ordain ICKSP & FSSP priest's.
ReplyDeleteIocaris annon?
DeleteAnonymous above must not be aware that Bishop DeRoo was---and probably still is---one of the most liberal bishops of the post-Vatican II church. The Wanderer often reported back in the 70's and 80's on the outrages he was responsible for. So I doubt very much that he would welcome any association with the traditional orders or that they would want him. He is one of the architects of the horror we are living through today and very likely delighted with the heresies of Francis.
ReplyDeleteYou're correct I know nothing about him.
DeleteIt would be a blessing if a pre-1968 Bishop would be allowed to ordain ICKSP / FSSP priest's.
I suppose if full SSPX-Conciliar communion happens, perhaps Bishop Fellay might do the honours, but I doubt he'd like help societies approved by JP2 to weaken the SSPX.
DeleteDeRoo is as bad as any you could imagine. This opinion comes from reading the Wanderer and having heard a holy Canadian priest (now deceased) speak derisively about DeRoo. Leopards do not change their spots. They are expert at stalking and pouncing when it is least expected. Never assume that they are not around looking for whom to devour. (apologies to St Peter 1P 5:8)
DeleteSeveral FSSP priests have been ordained by "pre 1968" bishops.
Delete@DJR Do you know the names of the FSSP or ICKSP Priest's who were ordained by pre-1968 Bishops?
DeleteI ask this question for the sake of my patents. My father refuses to leave the Novus Ordo & I would like for him to receive valid Sacraments.
Thank you very much in advance God bless you & your Family.
The priests who initially founded the FSSP were ordained by Archbishop Lefebvre. Fr. Josef Bisig is one; Fr. Arnaud Devillers is another. I don't know all the others. There's a dozen of them.
DeleteThen there are those priests ordained in 2000 in Wigratzbad, Germany. Fr. Laurent Demets, stationed in Quebec, is a friend of mine. He is one of those priests ordained that year.
The bishop who ordained Fr. Demets was an elderly Polish bishop who had been consecrated as a bishop prior to 1968.
I don't have his name handy, but it can be obtained by the FSSP if anyone is interested.
Just request the name of the bishop who ordained the class of 2000 in Wigratzbad.
If your parents want to frequent a Byzantine Rite parish, or any of the eastern rites, they will receive valid sacraments there.
I am a member of a Byzantine eparchy in the U.S. We have valid sacraments, even when our bishops are consecrated post 1968, as changes in the Latin Rite had no effect on validity of the other rites.
If Remi De Roo represents "Vatican II" then Vatican II needs to be sent to the dumpster. He was a proponent of the most outrageous heresies and left-wing advocacy during his tenure, and even afterwards he was praised by the liberal establishment in the Catholic Church of Canada.
ReplyDeleteWell, he's still got time to repent, but that would mean he'd have to realize his sins.
ReplyDeleteVatican II sucks.
ReplyDeleteCardinal Arinze was also a Council Father, the youngest at age 33.
