The hymns of Oregon Catholic Press, Leaflet Missal and Gather are intrinsically disordered
and indisputably introverted. How could any self-respecting clergyman allow OCP hymnals in his church unless he's an aberrosexual or doesn't care?
Can you imagine being forced to choose between Haas, Joncas and the Saint Louis Jesuits for the funeral of a loved one and being told that there is no other alternative by a gigantic, blustery, lisping, sweaty, Irish loudmouth in sandals, and that your family also belongs to the masonic lodge looking chapel community whose rights supersede your own personal sensus catholicus and the deceased?
Most families keep going to the masonic lodge looking chapel with the brutal granite altar designed by the evil Frank Kazmarcek and paid for by their hard earned cash, long after they have forgotten mostly why they went in the first place.
They deserve it, those who keep supporting them, even after they're dead.

It's not because he is Irish that he's acting in this way.......please separate your prejudice from what really ails this man.........it's unbecoming of a Catholic and a slight on good Irish men and Women. Maybe look into your own historical past before throwing stones. By the way generally I follow this blog with interest.
Gaybriel strikes again..
We have the Irish to thank for the Church in America, and for that we should always be grateful.
But with that great gift came a few disadvantages. And one of the most prominent was the very problematic sacred music legacy of the Irish. And that was apparent many decades before even the St. Louis Jesuits, let alone Haugen-Haas-Schutte.
There are plenty of fine traditional sacred music resources available now, even for the Novus Ordo. There's no longer any excuse for the hegemony of OCP hymnals. It's time to throw them out.
Duh.......gud ccomment.......yeah that's it y dudnt I tink oh dat....... please at least be logical my friend.
This man comes late to the game. Study the history of Archbishop Rembert Weakland, the Church Music Association of America, and Saint John's Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota, dating back to the 60s. You will then understand how we got to where we are.

Thank you for your comment. I always think that when comments stray into national stereotyping one is on the wrong path but I do understand the frustration with what is happening in the Church.
We have ourselves to blame if we support these non-catholic covens in any way, financially or otherwise.
Did I neglect to mention Liturgical Press somewhere? I meant to. :(
Thank you.
I'm thinking of a specific individual and the national character. Athelstane's comment is excellent.
Are you anti Catholic as well as anti Irish there is not an once of Christianity in you you horrible bigoted little fuck
Do you know the real reason why the walls of Jericho fell? Bad Masonry.
In my experience bigotry is a natural human compulsion.
Haas is to Sacred/Liturgical music what Gaybriel is to comments at EF. A bunch of scheissdreck that should be avoided
Gold.
It's a good thing I didn't call him an Irish bog fairy then.
You're welcome. Glad you got the point.
^THAT!^
The screaming Virago makes another deep and meaningful contribution to the ideological manifesto of Wahabism and, all the while, persuaded that she is defending Christian ideals and values.
It's not an Irish problem it's a homosexual problem! Spills out into his musak. He has a profile picture on Facebook with a rainbow flag, that says "We are Orlando." sponsored by GLAAD.
Tancred I don't know how you keep up with all of Gaybriel's pseudonyms. It's like a new one every hour. Right Chip?
The Irish clergy has ruled the American Church for 150 years.
How about Liturgy Training Publications? They got themselves brand new digs and warehouse in Chicago. They must have a market, suburban RCIA & CCD programs, must still be using their wares. Why? Did the publications improve or something? I really can't tell from the website, but from the book cover art, I'd guess same old.
Cowchip's self-awareness, like that of his fellow Wahibbim, is non-existent. They are the ones who want to pare down the Faith to a gayish combination of a Quaker meeting and a neo-Wahibbist gathering in ritual and doctrine, aesthetic and architecture.
Oddly, thinking back, the only thing they haven't questioned, altered, or disparaged is altar wine. That is not to say any of them believe in the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity contained therein, once confected.
could of been worse apprently juding by the state of the religion in netherlands, germany and france.
When will everyone understand that most Novus Ordo Catholics don't give a damn about all this? I work in a relatively conservative Novus Ordo parish and while I try to introduce some chant and more traditional conservative hymns, Hass, Haugen and Schutte still comprise the musical trinity there.

Americanism is pretty bad.
I don't care if it is reverently done ad orientem in Latin by a priest in a fiddleback surrounded by altar boys, the prayers of the Novus Ordo are not the holy prayers of the Catholic Church. The Catholic Mass humbly offers God to God in satisfaction for our sins and God then rains His grace upon all present, the dead, the living and indeed the whole world. So no, I am not surprised that the graceless lot of them do not "give a damn".
Really perhaps there were no wasp converts in the seminaries and the other nations did not give up their sons and daughters to serve God WAKEN UP AND THANK GOD FOR THE IRISH CLERGY , THAT BUILT YHE AMERICAN CHURCH
[Instert pic of Dolan with cheesehead.]
The mountain is too high.
The rivers too wide, the oceans too deep, the forest too dense and the deserts too vast and none of these has to do with Haas, 1570 or 'ad orientem.' brown eyes.
So Dolan represents all Irish clergy?
Like a cypher.
Haha. Thanks for that! Here's my favorite liturgy inspiration. http://www.ccwatershed.org
Having come from a Scots/Irish/Eng gene pool I had a definite pro-Irish inclination all my life until I began seriously studying Church history etc. & the Irish of today are the antithesis of their forebears and I find modern Ireland a cookie cutter pattern of Germany. And anonymous using the f wd is symptomatic of the malaise. In Christ there is no East or West, black or white. Anonymous is eaten up with hubris!
Gaybriel strikes again..
I have seen references to this person several times.
Out of curiosity, who is that, and why do people keep talking about him?

...and a St. Gallen's group wannabe; but he's so femme even the alpha queens won't play with him.
Says the Dyke of the Bike from Yeehaa, Nebraska.
Sure beats being stuck in the 1970s.
Are you sure it's not a St. Gallen's CAMP?
If Portland Abp. Alexander Sample is really serious about reforming the Novus Ordo liturgy, he can do an enormous favor to the rest of the English-speaking Catholic world by rescinding his archdiocese's approval of the feminized and inane pop tunes published by Oregon Catholic Press.
Those songs have diminished the Ordinary Form liturgy for well over 50 years. Abp. Sample must insist that instead of nonsensical tunes and warmed-over Protestant hymns, OCP should be publishing English chants of the Propers [i.e., Introit, Responsorial Psalm, Gospel acclamation, Offertory antiphon and Communion antiphon.] for their correct use at Mass. Catholic hymns in Latin and English should also be revived to reconnect us to our cultural past and Catholic identity.
Pope Benedict said sacred music is integral to the celebration of the Mass. Abp. Sample does a lot of good by promoting the Vetus Ordo, but if he starts cleaning up the music used in the Ordinary Form, it will help restore the sense of the sacred in the Novus Ordo as well.
complete with boas and sequins and garter belts under his rainbow chasuble.
You have a clear advantage in the funny gear in the duds department, Susan. Must really fire up the line-dancing routine.
Straight out of Zuhlsdorf's turgid self-serving plagiarised script.
Sample is a Benedict clone who, like the Abdicated one, Sarah and Burke, have been exposed as panderes to an eccentric and very insecure group of boutique Catholics who have been paralysed by future shock.
We are still talking about the 1570's. Come 2370, no one, absolutely no one, no matter how pedantic the scholar, if such a thing then exist, will give a hoot about the 70's. The hippy 60's, if mentioned at all, will be looked at with the bemusement and condescension that people used to regard the now almost-forgotten Victorians with. Fairy Trautman, you and NewAmChurch are spiritual Dead Man Walking. Try thinking it through, just try. Then repent.
Barney's rattled, shaken to the core. Get help old chap.
The stripping of the sacred music, the churches, the altars, etc is no less than the stripping of Jesus' garments during the Passion.
Sounds like professional jealousy, Trautsperson.
