Edit: the faculty advisors of an allegedly Catholic University have voted unanimously to suspend the last Catholic faculty member on their staff without pay starting on April 1st and subsequently expect him to admit he was doing wrong in defending the Catholic Faith at a Catholic University as one of several humiliating conditions for reinstatement.
The announcement was sent to him on Holy Thursday. Very fitting and a great way to compassionate his Savior, but this injustice, this evil is surely enough to fool even the elect.
We live in terrible times and it seems they will get worse. What a wonderful thing it is to be persecuted for His sake but we pray for this courageous man's relief and the good of his family as these Bolscheviks divide his garments among them...
[Marquette Warrior] It was announced Thursday, which was (doubtless intentionally) the eve of the Good Friday holiday, and in the middle of March Madness. Marquette has decided how to punish this blogger for a post that revealed how an instructor in the Philosophy Department bullied a student who wanted to express his opposition to gay marriage in class. He was told “you don’t have a right in this class to make homophobic comments,” and further that it would be “offensive” to any gay students in the class if any such opinion was expressed.
Marquette reacted by telling us we would be stripped of tenure and fired.

It is tragic how these Catholic institutions of higher learning have one by one abandoned the Faith and now openly reject the Church's teachings.
ReplyDeleteThis story does not surprise me one bit.
ReplyDeleteSo typical of the Bergoglian Catholic Church.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of bergoglio....I don't like to give him the title, "Pope" anymore, for everything he has done in three years...but I suppose everyone knows that the great saintly woman and pioneer in Catholic communications and cable TV, Mother Mary Angelica, PCPA, died at 5:00 pm on Easter Sunday at 92 after a very long period of illness. The great pope, Our Holy Father Benedict XVI sent a message of condolence already to EWTN and to toe nuns of Mother Angelica'a monastery, telling that them that Mother Angelica's death on such a wonderful day as Easter Sunday was "a gift" from God. God Bless Pope Benedict XVI for sharing his sorrow and words of comfort.
But from Francis? I would not be surprised if there's nothing from him. He's more concerned with his precious Muslims. How many times has he mentioned their plight over Holy Week and Easter? Seven-eight...ten??

BTW,Fr. Mitch Pacwa said that today (3/28) the Maronite Catholic Church celebrated the Feast of the Annunciation. The full name of Mother Angelica in religious life was Mother Mary Angelica of the Annunciation.
DeleteSo according to Roman time (midnight to midnight), she passed away on Easter Sunday. According to Semitic time (...evening and morning one day.... Gen. 1), since it was 5 pm, therefore she passed away on the Feast of the Annunciation (Maronite).
As an outsider who has a few acquaintances in Catholic academe, I view this as more of the rotten fruits of the 1967 Land O'Lakes Statement (led primarily by the late Fr. Ted Hesburgh).
ReplyDeleteFor those unfamiliar, the Land o' Lakes statement outlined the role of Catholic colleges and asserted their independence from church hierarchy. In the wake of this revolutionary act, most Catholic schools turned over their charters to independent boards of trustees composed predominantly of laypeople. Thus, performances of Eve Ensler's 'Vagina Monologues' at Notre Dame and St. Marys, numerous Gramscian revolutionaries operating under the title of Catholic college professors and now a tenured Marquette professor getting the axe for being faithful to Catholic teaching ... hey it's "academic freedom" folks.
I can not blame this on Pope Francis. The spirit of non serviam in the current era, and in Catholic academia in the USA began at least 2 years before Pope Francis received Holy Orders (S.J. Dec 1969) and was alluded to in Pascendi of Pope St. Pius X among many other notable anti-Modernist documents.
I pray that I don't get caught up in a revolutionary non serviam spirit myself, a difficult thing to do these days.

Such a disgrace that sodomite perverts are allowed to use the name of Jesus Christ to preach vice -- maybe they will put Al Gore on their board soon to police dissent. And yet still the vice ridden sheep trot along happily eating the poison.
