Catholic Cardinal and Masonic Lodge Master (at least honorary)

(Rom) Gianfranco Ravasi has been a Cardinal of the Catholic Church since  2010. Since March 2016 he has also been an honorary Masonic Grandmaster.  Thanks to the Grand Lodge of Spain for a letter which the Cardinal sent last February to "dear Brother Freemasons."

Cardinal Ravasi's Letter

Just weeks after Cardinal Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, addressed his letter to the Lodges, these have shown themselves to be pleased by the recognition shown them by the prominent ecclesiastical figure, and  at the highest levels.

For the beaproned brothers, "the Cardinal's words are a recognition of our noble goals," so says the Grand Lodge.

"Freemasonry is incompatible with Christianity, even if Cardinal Ravasi calls himself 'honorable Brother Gianfranco,' in order to build a bridge to the Lodge," writes news site InfoVaticana.

Ravasi's letter which was originally published on14. February in the business newspaper  Il Sole 24, was an appeal to overcome the centuries of confrontation between the Church and the Lodge.

Steht Kardinal Ravasi auf derselben Stufe mit Oscar de Alfonso Ortega, dem Großmeister der Großloge von Spanien?
Is Cardibal Ravasi on the same level with Oscar de Alfonso Ortega, the Grandmaster of the Grand Lodge of Spain?

The letter did not call into question the numerous condemnations by the Church, not even the statements of incompatibility by the Magisterium and the ban on Lodge membership in the Codex of Canom Law, explicitly in 1917, implicitly in the 1983. Cardinal Ravasi wrote however :

"These various declarations of incompatibility between the two affiliations of the Church and the Lodge do not impede dialogue."

At the same time he mentioned the dialogue of the German bishops with the Lodges in the 1970s.  Because, so says the Cardinal, there are commonalities, "like the dimension of community, good will, the battle against materialism, the worth of the human person and learning about one another."

Cardinal Ravasi did not mention that a Catholic who is the member of a Lodge is in serious sin. And automatically excluded from the Sacraments.

The answer of the Grand Lodge in Spain

The Grand Lodge of Spain is one of the most influential Masonic associations in the Iberian peninsula answered the "honorable Brother Gianfranco." This is the manner that the aproned brothers address each other, as soon as they have stood initiation.  The Cardinal's letter ships "great courage," said the Grand Lodge.

The honorary mention went so far as to actually recognize Cardinal Ravasi  as "Master"  and imply that he is an initiate.  The "Master" is a Lodge Brother  who has presided directly over a Lodge, and directs their work. In the last passage of the Grand Lodge's letter it reads:

"The  Cardinalhas extended his brotherly hand in which he called us brothers.  It's a relationship in which anyone can participate, when they enter our Order.  The dear brother initiate strives for virtue as in every mystery school, of which the Master embraces. The mystery schools seek the self-transformation of each one who strives for the higher.  If the initiate is accepted and elected as a master, to lead the work of the Lodge, to which he is called by all, he ceases to be addressed as dear brother.  His new treatment, as honorable brother, means re same for the Church as it does for the Freemasonry: he is someone of wise and flawless good.  That is the freemasonic ideal. Honorable brother Gianfranco, thank you for the courageous gesture, which has opened a space for brotherly harmony. Like all of the worthy, you call into labor."

  1. St. Maximilian Kolbe watched a large gathering of Freemasons demonstrate in St. Peter's Square in 1917 during a bicentennial celebration of theirs.

The banners held aloft by the Freemasons proclaimed:

"Satan Must Reign in the Vatican. The Pope Will Be His Slave.”

  2. There are many Masons inside the Catholic Church as Cardinals and Bishops ; wolves in Sheeps clothing. As fore told in the prophecies the Devils are let loose . We have to save ourselves from the snares of the devil through prayer and Penance. We are in the end times of trials and tribulations.

    1. Taking authority over them by discerning and naming them. Expose them, correct the scandals they commit and cast them out. Those are merciful acts of charity that require heavy lifting.

    3. Charlotte Iserbyt, a convert to Catholicism, wrote an article in 2013 entitled "Masonic Snakes in Catholic Education". Her expertise is in education and she writes about the deliberate dumbing down of American education. In the article she states: "Regarding Catholic Schools accepting the national Common Core curriculum, I am afraid we will have to understand that the Catholic Bishops[of the United States] are part of it...willingly part of it. I don't like to say that, but Bishops are not stupid. They are following directives from the Vatican that is up to its eyeballs in Masonic snakes. https://youtu.be/69HqxE74P5w

  3. Maybe it's a paid position and that's why Catholic Church is now dialoging w/masons. Maybe he'll be gettin' his benefactor fran a stipend also. Surely you can be a cardinal/pope of more than one "church"/"temple".

"A few days ago, we published a few excerpts of the article published by Cardinal Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, in the Italian paper Il Sole 24 Ore last Sunday, February 14, 2016, calling for dialogue with Freemasons. We now have the full text of the article -- followed by a response given by the Cardinal to a reader who asked him for a clarification."

  5. Ecclesiastical Masonry?
How could none of them knew that physically we cannot see people saved without the baptism of water?
Was it ecclesiastical masonry at Baltimore and then Boston and then finally Vatican Council II?
And the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1992) went along with the error?

When reading Vatican Council II we have to de condition ourself and then the Council is traditional and rational

    1. I admire his zeal, but he make distinctions where none are necessary. I keep hoping for a breakthrough of some kind.

    2. Tancred,
If you say that LG 16 is a break with the dogma EENS and so Vatican Council II is a break with Tradition and in particular with EENS, then you have made the distinction. You have set things up. And this is really the position on Vatican Council II for the SBC and the SSPX groups.

If LG 16 is a break with the strict interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus(EENS) then it means LG 16 is referring to an objective case, for it to be an exception.
It means LG 16 is not a reference to a hypothetical case, but a seen in the flesh case. So the distinction has been made by you.And I have to keep responding to this irrationality.

  6. Obviously problematic, but Masonic tenets have been incorporated into society as a whole for awhile.

    2. It's not problematic in this case.Since we now know hypothetical cases cannot be exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. So we re-read Vatican Council II without the old conditioning.
The Councils comes out traditional and Feeneyite.

Tancred and the SBC ( Richmond N.H and Still River) are interpreting Vatican Council as the Masons would want them to do so.

Eleonore Villarrubia teaches Catholic school children to interpret Vatican Council II with an irrational inference and as a break with the dogma EENS ?
      http://eucharistandmission.blogspot.it/2016/03/eleonore-villarrubia-teaches-catholic.html

They are not announcing that LG 16 for example refers to an invisible and not a visible case. This is something but obvious but yet they will not comment on it.Tancred possibly has to ask Brother Andre Marie's permission before commenting on this.

This is something simple but they are avoiding it it.
Here are two questions which they will not answer. This maintains the problem.

      1) Do we personally know the dead now saved in invincible ignorance, a good conscience (LG 16) etc,can we see them, are they physically visible to us in 2016 ?

      2) Since we do not know any of these cases, in real life, they are not visible for us, there are no known exceptions to the literal interpretation of the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, or Ad Gentes 7 which states 'all' need 'faith and baptism' for salvation ?

The same problem is there with the FSSP and the SSPX.

      No denial from FSSP

  7. Does the fact that many western societies have been infected with the lethal virus that is masonry make it fine? What kind of non-logic is that for a Catholic? The fact that evil has the upper hand in our times does not mean that we give in but that we fight it. Were we not confirmed as miles Christi? Archimago

  8. Now how is it possible for a Bishop to operate openly as a Freemason without any reprimand from the Hierarchy of the church?
This proves Bella Dodd to be 100% truthful when she spoke of communists and freemasons infiltrating the Church in the 30's and 40's.
