Blasphemy: Koran Suras Recited Over the Grave of St. Martin of Tours

(Paris) "The pope's video   has led the way: certain meetings in the spirit of the New World Religion are now on the agenda," said Chiesa e Postconcilio. On January 17, the Archbishop of Tours, the Cistercian, Bernard Nicolas Aubertin-, are among guests invited. It's not just in his episcopal residence or one of the numerous parish halls, but in the Basilica of St. Martin. Archbishop Aubertin sat in the high choir on 17 January with an Imam, representatives of the Islamic and Buddhist community and other Christian denominations. On the steps of the high choir,  the word Paix (peace) was projected.

The Quran was recited over the tomb of Saint Martin Martin of Tours

St. Martin was third bishop of Tours and was buried after his death in 397 in the city. Above his grave  the great basilica of Saint Martin de Tours was soon built and became a great pilgrimage site of Latin Christendom.
In 732 Tours was the scene of Muslim looting that took place in the Frankish Empire from Spain. Charles Martel, the head of the House of  the Merovingians, defeated them at the Battle of Poitiers and thus stopped the Muslim advance in the West.
In 1562 Protestants set alight the  saint's tomb. Only some of his remains could be saved and buried in the grave anew.
During the French Revolution, the basilica, except for a few, still visible parts, was destroyed. In 1860 the grave of the saint was again exposed and  they started over with the construction of a new basilica. In 1889 a new crypt for the grave was completed, and in 1925 the new basilica was consecrated.

Year of Mercy and Compassion in the Qur'an?

Xavier Gué, the church rector referred in his welcome to Saint Martin, who was a soldier. He had made his sword, with which he could kill the enemy, into an instrument of sharing.
Then all the religious leaders spoke for their respective communities. The Anglican representative quoted the prophet Micah and the Apostle Paul. An Imam sang the Fatiha, the initial chapter of the Koran.
Archbishop Aubertin presented a connection between the Year of Mercy and compassion in Islam.
The Dominican Jean-François Bour, Head of the Department for Interreligious  Dialogue in the   Archdiocese of Tours asked in conclusion for everyone to mutually support each other, to pray for one another and develop a desire "to live with our brothers in a benevolent and honest dialogue".

Toast in the Church

Then all those present were even invited to a "friendship cup" a  drink held in the back of   church.
"It remains completely unclear why church leaders are urged to carry out more and more foreign liturgical events liturgy in the church. If I want to come together with Muslims and Buddhists, then I do it somewhere, but not in the church. What are you offering here to substitute for the Liturgy and the encounter with Christ in the Sacrament?"  Wrote a Catholic from Tours among the comments of Riposte Catholique about the" Interfaith Encounter" at the Basilica.

It is only natural that the followers of the three Abrahamitic faiths should get together for prayer in the areas of common ground they share and do so in a sacred space.
Just ask soldiers who have been in combat and welcomed chaplains of other faiths. The troops respected them and they respected them.

This kind of inter-Faith cooperation still continues and narrow bigotry will not cause it to cease.

The real "narrow bigotry" was that practiced by the invading and bloody Muslims and the desecrating Protestants. What will cause this sacrilige to cease, and your perfidious support of the heresy of religious indifferentism, will be the avenging hand of God. His Church has already condemned magisterially the filth which is ecumenism---no matter what you, Sean, or your equally perfidious pope say or do to promote the globalist, socialist agenda. RC

Ecumenism is an official teaching of the Catholic Church. Get help for the anger.

Does this mean that Catholics and Catholic prayers can be recited in Mecca ? Ecumenism should work both ways. Get help for your blindness.

Ecumenism had always been part of the Catholic Faith and teaching. Even before Vatican II, the Church and several religious Orders (now all of nearly extinct) preached ecumenism.

But it was a different kind of ecumenism than that practiced today. What we have today would be appaling to those who preached the so called "ecumenism of return" which was the traditional ecumenism of the Catholic Church from the Middle Ages until 1965.
What it practiced was (and sometimes there were abuses to it, even violent ones) an attempt to show the now believers their errors thru dialog, in the hopes that they would return to Catholic Truth.
I'm not speaking here about the Crusades, or the Inquisition, but rather the polite contacts that went on between the Catholic Faith and others to enlighten them about the Truths of the Catholic Faith.
Saint Alphonsus Ligouri and Blessed John Henry Newman, the great English cardinal and convert from Anglicanism are two good examples of holy priests who engaged heretics in dialog to show them the true path to God.
In the USA, the now radical liberal and corrupt, nearly extinct Franciscan Friars of the Atonment (only about 70 members....300+ before Vatican II) was founded originally as an Episcopalian religious Order, but the entire religious Order converted to the Catholic Church at the very end of the 19th century and fostered real dialog with both the Episcopalian and other Protestant Churches to attempt to show them in a polite was the errors of their faith and to bring them back to Catholic Truth. The now totally corrupted by Vatican II "Week of Prayer for Christian Unity", was organized by the Franciscan Friars of the Atonment in the early years of the 20th century in the USA and given official approval by Pope Leo XIII shortly before his death in 1903. These movements gave emphasis and witness to the beauty of Catholic Truth in its theology, philosphy, history, music, and our beautiful liturgy...the Tridentine Latin Mass.
Beyond these movements promoting a proper sense of Christian Unity, there was almost no contact between the Roman Catholic faithful in their parishes, and the Protestant people in their own neighboring Churches. We, as Caholics, believed that our Faith was the True Faith and True Mass, and therefore there was no point in visiting other Protestant Churches or participating in the corrupting influence of their services. Certainly what we have today as exemplified by the picture above, or by the outrageous news that Pope francis will travel to Sweded this year to participate in a service praising the Protestant Reformation and Luther would have been shocking and appaling to the early Catholic ecumenists of the 20th century who preached the Truth of the Catholic Faith.
It is a sad but true fact, that whent he false ecumenism that has been practiced in the Catholic Church is emphasized by services, celebratons, etc....and by especially the event in Sweden to be presided over by this "pope" Francis....the only Churches which benefit are the Protestant ones.
Which is a clear sign from God that we are on the wrong path, and that the ecumenism preached today in the Catholic Church is a false ecumenism.
Let us pray that somehow, this horrible event scheduled in Sweden honoring Luther and the Reformation, and presided over by the Pope does not happen.
Under the great Benedict XVI, who unfortunately should have a great deal of guilt weighing heavily on his for resigning...such a commemoration of Luther with the participation of the Pope would have been unthinkable....in fact, I remember reading about four years ago when these celebrations were first planned, that the Vatican of Benedict XVI was hardly even going to acknowledge it. Which is how the Catholic Church reaction should be.
It shows how far we have gone in the wrong direction under this Pope.
May the Catholic Church soon be cleansed of him and his associates.

How much longer must this continue? Are there so few real Bishops out there? The saints' tomb is effectively desacrated now. This is relativism on steroids.

Something surprising may take place before the event happens as it happened to Saul on his way ! a terrible disaster is impending !
There is a limit and ultimately an end to everything going the wrong way.
How long, how long the Hierarchy will remain silent , they are miserably
failing in their duty to stand by the truth and open their mouths to condemn the errors.
Do they fear God , their accountability and judgement ? O Lord ,save us.

And you, Sean, should get help for your spiritual sickness. Ecumenism is only the teaching of the recent perfidious council, but soundly condemned by the Church in magisterial documents as dangerous to the Faith. Go read the Maryknoll rag or "America," the publication of perfidy du jour to be confirmed in your errors. Our Lord was angry as well and often with those who desecrated His Father's house. You and the rest of the ecumenical ship of fools and traitors would merit the same Divine anger and for the same reasons. Get help for your soul before it is too late. RC

I'll 'member that next time Hitler, Stalin or Castro come to town (or the women of Germany are gang-raped or the Christians in Muslim-controlled countries are slaughtered or jailed, or another Catholic Church is blown up or desecrated, or 60 million babies are murdered in the U.S. by Frannie, dolly, seannie, lori, donna, Kennedy, Cuomo, O'Malley, Pelosi, Brown, Mikulski, Murkowski, Snowe, Durbin, et al). It's what we have in common that matters! Down with the death penalty--that God instituted for sin, right, Sean? Destroyers, murderers, thieves and liars unite and worship Satan in the Church of Jesus Christ.

These celebrities have discovered their own niche markets, are little more than airport bishops comfortable, very comfortable living conditions, limitless deference and fawning by supporters, First and Business class travel junkets and all for the occasional P & W vent on subjects bound to reinforce the spiritual and mental fragility of their constituents.
They'll do and say just enough to please their fans and maintain the 'quality' of life they are accustomed to without stepping over the boundary which would see them out of a job even in the peripherias to which they have been assigned.

Yes, to you heretics and enablers of such, Sean, anyone who defends the true doctrine of the Church is doing for less-than-worthy motives. The real high-livers are all in the Modernist cesspool that most orders and chanceries have become. But, of course, you don't argue in good faith but with the malevolent purpose to agitate---like all good Leftists. RC

I have said this on my blog, officially and legally, that the Papacy is currently unoccupied. Bergoglio has removed himself, through his actions and deeds, from the throne of St. Peter.

But this act is incredibly distressing. St. Martin, as many know, is VERY important to European Catholicism and their devotions. He is one of the most identified Saints to Europeans and is identified very much with the Faith in Europe.

Though I don't want to give TOO much weight to this event, it is hard not to read this prophetically as a very bad sign of what is on the West's doorstep and what has yet to come.

Much distress and bloodshed.

You parrot Pope Francis quite nicely. Was there a cracker involved? Too bad you forgot to work in "neo-Pelagians" or "vain butterfly priests" for bonus points.

You see bigotry where faithful Catholics see a need to recognize indifferentism and syncretism when they rear their ugly, blasphemous heads.

This ecumenism travels on a one way street, its all about watering down the Catholic faith to make it palatable to other beliefs ,you will not see a Crucifix in a Mosque ,Synagogue ,or Hindu temple ,because they ,unlike the Vatican will not compromise their beliefs. If ecumenical prayer takes place ,it should be on neutral territory. In reality Catholic churches are been handed over for non Catholic services ,in some cases ,religious artifacts been covered up or removed ,its a disgraceful betrayal ,and its undermining the Faith .

The Church is going through the great Apostasy it is time to face reality.

All we can do is pray and remain faithful to the Catholic Church and the few Catholic priests who are faithful to Tradition so we can go through these difficult times.

I don't know what cause Benedict XVI to resign as Pope of the Catholic Church but his actions are costing the Catholic Church immensely.

Yet I still pray for him as if he was the Pope.

Don't contemplate closing down the comments box please. Even though the extreme right-wing sede-vacantists are rather wrong in their beliefs, and many downright nuts, I did travel to a town in Mexico where a sede vacantist sect is active. Is is the SSPX. Between the two of them, they have done much to restore the Catholic traditions and Faith of so many people who were being lured into the idiocy of bible-thumping Christian fundamentalism.
Did you know that there is even a small town and the surrounding area in Mexico which has converted en masse from fundamentalist Christianity, to Islam? There's even a mosque. If I hadn't known I was in Mexico, I would have thought it was Egypt or Palestine, etc.
Mexican people are turning from the Catholic Faith, as well as in other countries of Latin America because of Vatican II, the destrouction of the Mass and the old Spanish-style Catholic traditions in favor of the social-justice, liberation theology, Mercy type garbage spouted by Pope Francis and his company.
Even though sede-vacantists are wrong (there will be a new Pope soon enough who will be 100% the opposite of Francis...so no one give up on the Church in favor of sede-vacantists), they are still preserving the Catholic Faith, in areas which without them...they would turn to the errors of fundamentalist Christianity, or even Islam (which in and of itself isn't a bad religion....but who would leave the Catholic Faith for Islam--except those for whom the Catholic Faith has been warped into something that they detest. That's why people leave the Church.
So sede-vacantists shouldn't be silenced. Even though they're off base abit, they do contribute a service.

The SSPX is not and has never been sedevacantist. In fact, they have published very well-researched books proving the wrong-headedness of that position, tempting and understandable though it is in these times of "Francis the Merciful." The trouble-makers in this blog, as far as I can see, are not "extreme right-wingers" (a very important reason we have allowed loony Left to take over our culture is that we adopt their language and smears du jour) but the occasional heretic who defends the indefensible when it comes to the pope and the present condition of the Church. Please realize the terms like "extreme right-wing" (whatever that imprecision may mean) is the main tool of the liberals to intimidate and silence us so that they can continue to have the field. In fact, anyone who disagrees with them is a "fascist" or a "hater"---words that most often apply to them. By the way, Damian, I do enjoy your posts and the evident love for the Church you have. Keep it up! Best, RC
