Father Schmidberger Foresees Canonical Recognition of the SSPX

In the Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has agreed to extend an indult to the Priests of the Society of St. Pius X, to hear confessions. Former Superior, Father Franz Schmidberger forsees canonical recognition of the Society as well as greater cooperation.

In a recent interview,  former superior of the Fraternity talks to La Stampa saying, "I trust that in the near future we can find solutions to recover full communion."

According Schmidberger Pope Francis' gesture will not be complete at the end of the Jubilee. "Indeed" - says Schmidberger - "it is hard to imagine that this is limited to the Holy Year, nor do I think this is the limit of the Pope's idea. Perhaps at first other similar gestures are to follow. No doubt - it seems  - the Pope sees in our Fraternity a force that can be of help to, as many have claimed, the new evangelization. Furthermore, our work corresponds in principle to his invitation to the spirit of poverty. In fact we do not receive state subsidies or the Church-tax, but we live only the generosity and sacrifice of the faithful. "

"If the Pope is really thinking of a canonical structure, it will open many doors even wider for our priests than today." "Especially" - concluded the former collaborator of Lefebvre - "we could work together, according to our vocation, to the formation of a new generation of priests filled with a spirit of faith and apostolic zeal."

It is interesting to note that more and more Catholics are drawn to, supporting and attending Holy Masses and other ceremonies conducted by the SSPX, and the vocations to the SSPX and affiliated Orders is growing, while at the same time support for Pope Francis and his Vatican II Vatican is declining,,,,as per this quote from the Vatican itself.
" More than 3.2 million pilgrims visited and attended papal events, liturgies or prayer services at the Vatican in 2015, the Vatican said.

The statistics, released Dec. 30, were compiled by the Prefecture of the Papal Household, which coordinates papal events and distributes free tickets to papal audiences and liturgies. The prefecture said more than 3.2 million people attended a papal event in 2015.

The total was a significant drop from the 5.9 million visitors received by Pope Francis in 2014. It was also slightly more than half the 6.6 million pilgrims who visited the Vatican during the first nine and a half months of his pontificate in 2013. "

No other Pope in recent memory has had such a steep drop in attendance at audiences etc. Catholics are beginning to wake up about Pope Francis.
His Holy Year of Mercy for 2016 I hope is a flop.....as his entire radical liberal Pontificate already is.

No mention of Vatican II and its errors in the original La Stampa article. Has Fr. Franz Schmidberger publicly noted the dangers to the Faith that religious liberty, ecumenism, and collegiality pose?

He's been very vocal about it.

The drops pilgrims to Rome is a clear indicator that more and more Catholics are becoming aware of what is happening in Vatican under Pope Francis. It may be worse during 2016. The disastrous Synod(sin odd) has caused serious doubts in their minds and worse it is that the liberal and modernist Cardinals and Bishops are loosing out their hierarchical dignity and respect and their credibility as true shepherds.
The truly faithful hierarchy and Priests are the ones who are being sought out in this time of troubles and confusion. Let us pray for these shepherds that they may be protected from the devil and attractions of the world.
O Mary, conceived without original sin pray for us who have recourse to Thee.

Here's the problem I see happening.
In order to "fit in" with the novus ordo, the SSPX will have to water down their sermons & theology.

It will not happen and it must not happen ; if it happens it will be nothing but suicidal. Do you think that the Superior General will betray ? No chance.

It's going to happen.

Bishop Fellay has stated already that he's not prepared to sign an agreement which does not allow for the Society's critique of Vatican II and the obvious deficiencies of the Bugninine liturgy.

thanks

Any more recently? That one is 27-09-2012. thanks again

It would be against their raison d'être, as Abp. Lefebvre and Bp. Fellay say.

He's made several statements over the years. I hardly think he's changed his mind.

Their reason for being is to save souls and challenge error.

Seems frances is going to recognize them so that they can get the state "church tax" - i.e. the faithful have to have money deducted from their pay rather than give what they want to the SSPX. For this free load of cash to the SSPX, Frances (and TEAM B McCarrick, Danneels, Ricca etc.) will get their cut! What an aid to the new (fairy) evangelization!!!! Prediction for 2016: pedophilia will be legalized in Belgium.

The SSPX will not compromise on anything whatsoever. You can take that to the bank. It won't happen; on the other hand, they know they can not continue without Rome indefinitely, because even though there is chaos, Rome is still the heart of the Church, spiritually and hierarchically. In another generation the situation could be beyond repair. Prayers for Bishop Fellay. He is in a very difficult position.

Actually many, many, traditional orders exist along side the SSPX.
I will pray for them but, they (SSPX)are by no means any different from any other pre-1951 Catholic order. Please understand I have no malice or ill will toward the SSPX.We are in this together, keeping the Roman Catholic Faith and her traditions is the goal.
