Yes, I believe you. Pope Francis is such a devious, and I believe genuinely evil man (after all, he's a Jesuit), that he would think as you describe.
This posting asks the questions of a "Cardinal Arinze #2". Just so you know, Cardinal Arinze was 100% Vatican II. He had no real objection to Piero Marini....and he was very cold towards Catholic tradition and the Tridentine Latin Mass.

What a beautiful color that cappa magna is! A shade of purple. That's the cappa magna for bishops, not a cardinal. So that photo is alittle dated.

Considering how magnificent it is, it is pathetic that nearly all bishops would refuse to wear it.
I did alittle research. Bishops have purple cappa magna, cardinals have red. But a few hundred years ago (300 or so), the Pope had one too. His was also red. I wonder what it looked like!
Arrinze has my esteem because he put the smack down on that old rummy, Archbishop Flynn.

Sometimes, if you hear the idiocy coming out of traditionalists, people with good sense like Cardinal Arinze will have reason to be cold to traditionalists.
If I were a cardinal, I would not like to be associated with people who calls Vatican 2 evil, when even SSPX claim that they are more faithful to Vatican 2 than the Novus Ordo crowds. Who wants to be identified with an exclusionary fringe?
Well, Arrinze has said some idiotic things, but that doesn't stop useful idiots from complaining about and attacking people who point it out. Especially the paid ones, they're truly the lowest of the low, right down there with Judas.
