(Vienna) Vienna Archbishop Christoph Cardinal Schönborn is "convinced" that if Pope Francis maintains his "pace" that there would be "changes". This was reported by the Rheinische Post in its Tuesday edition. There will be more "signs and wonders" by the current pope. The Cardinal considers it "frightening" that the Western governments in their defense and military strategies are oriented more and more "inward" against their own people.
"Reforms" of Remarried Divorcees and Against Celibacy ("Maybe")
"Reforms", the magical magic word was actively worked from Vienna's archbishop in this interview. "Changes" and "pace of change" would also be the "hot potatoes" like the approval of remarried divorcees to Communion and the abolition of priestly celibacy, says the Cardinal. With the only restriction of the little word "perhaps". Schönborn, is so certain of the papal reforms that he spoke of "signs and wonders" that will be "done" by Pope Francis.
Choice of Francis "Demonstration" for the Cardinals: "The Horizon Must Expand"
The reigning Pope for the last 17 months from Argentina knows "no prohibitions of discussions," said the chairman of the Austrian Bishops' Conference . But the Pope was concentrating less on "hot potatoes", but mainly on a "Church of the poor for the poor". With the election of Pope Francis the Cardinals had wanted to "also demonstrate": "We need to expand our horizons." So far the Austrian cardinal has only attributed the election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio as the Catholic Church's leader to the "supernatural character" of the Holy Spirit.
The Pope, says Cardinal Schönborn, is "more prophet than a revolutionary", so he'll make be more concerned about "sensation and restlessness": "Francis must and will remain authentic"
The reform program of the Pope is "ultimately" modeled on St. Francis copied : The general aim was "to put the gospel in the first place" and to make the Church "more Jesus". The "difficulty" is the discernment of spirits, because "who proclaim the gospel, are ready for the reform, or who resist reforms."
Schönborn Contradicts EKD Church President Schneider: No Consent for Euthanasia
In the interview, the Cardinal contradicted the Chairman of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany, Nikolaus Schneider, who had spoken in favor of euthanasia. Cardinal Schönborn said: "There can be no debate about the absolute no to euthanasia." The Church will never give Her consent. The cardinal reminded here of the word of his pre-predecessor Franz Cardinal König, according to which man should "die holding the hand, but not by the hand of man."
Pope Denounces "Blatant Injustice of Turbo-Capitalism"
The statement by Pope Francis in his Apostolic Letter Evangelii gaudium : "This kills the economy. 'A real find' for Vienna's archbishop, expressly was "not" based on the social market economy, which was influential in the post-war period for the Federal Republic of Germany and Austria. The papal statement was directed against "capitalism and the blatant injustices, which brings the liberal turbo-capitalism with it". The economy stands before a "crossroads", as Pope John Paul II. in his social encyclical in 1991, Laborem exercens had anticipated.
"Concern" for Governments Equipping Against Their Own People
Finally, Cardinal Schönborn warned of negative developments in the western states: "Not enough" is spoken about the fact that the military and defense strategies are increasingly "directed inwards, with a view to possible uprisings in their own countries." This development is "appalling" and the whole drama illustrative of the present situation, because one, the Cardinal does not say who, is preparing to "face a growing discontent among the population." The Church has "only to remember in this situation that there is still time to repent."

These are sad, sick times we live in. Pope Francis is a complete disaster.
ReplyDeleteAmen, and amen. Pass the grog.
DeleteThe Commi Pope is a defender of Islam and Socialism everywhere. He belongs running for office in California, not anywhere near the Catholic Church.
DeleteWhat planet is Cardinal Schonborn from? Has he just figured out that governments are primarily concerned about "keeping internal order" and directing their military against internal dissent. Next he will be informing us that Queen Victoria has just died.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am not defending what is being said, I think it is fair to say that the US and many of the western nations are becoming police states. Look at what is taking place in Ferguson MO. These are not wide-eyed conspiracy theories.
DeleteBut I would add that the deceivers use some truth to confuse the population. Might it be that the changes to come via VT II in this synod will be sprinkled with a few truths to get us to go along?
Cardinal Schönborn is a disgrace. His entire diocese is in open heresy and NOTHING is done. Yet the Franciscans of the Immaculate are being crushed. Francis is not only a modernist, I am coming to believe that he is truly an evil person. But for the last 50 years chaos, evil and modernism have gone unchecked by the popes and bishops......we deserve what we are enduring due to our unfaithfulness.
ReplyDeleteThe Holy See is causing egregious scandal by not acting to remove heretical bishops. They are conformed to the world.
DeleteWhy? Because you can't live as charitably towards all as he has shown. Francis is a mirror to us of just how much we have failed to do.
DeleteRose
What's with all the hate?
DeleteCardinal Schonbron is very cocky, very confident about what Pope Francis will do. But when Francis is gone, hopefully sooner than we think, his agenda will be gone, and his supporters will disappear back into the shadows with the arrival of a new Pope who will be totally the opposite of Francis. THen where will Schonborn be? I doubt if he will open his mouth so readily then.
ReplyDeleteYour thoughts anonymous tie in directly with an article I just now read on Pewsitter. Supposedly the Cardinal's office of NYC has, or is in the process of recommending that the poor priest (Fr. Wylie) from South Africa that used to celebrate the TLM at Holy Innocents have his facilities taken away from him. Evidently, they are not done with him yet, if this is in fact true. Anyway, as I was reading, the thought struck me that if Benedict were still in the Chair this kind of thing would never have happened in the first place. Would have been unthinkable as Benedict was a promoter of TLM. But now with Francis the non trads have pretty much free reign. Let the persecution (from WITHIN the Church) begin? Looks like this could be the order of the day.
DeleteAnonymous, you're talking out your ass, you ass.
ReplyDelete"Signs and wonders", eh? Chilling turn of phrase that.
ReplyDeleteI recall 2 Thessalonians 2:9:
"The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie..."
I'm not implying anything but the first thing to pop into my head was:
Delete"For there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders, insomuch as to deceive (if possible) even the elect." - Matthew 24:24
I'm not the one for conspiracy theories or end times hysteria, but with 2017, Petrus Romanus, a bishop in white, Blessed Anne Emmerich's and Our Lady of Good Success' prophecy of a great apostasy in the mid 20th century (and immodest clothing)... I dunno, maybe, just maybe, something big is gonna happen.
That was my thought too Liam. It caught my eye immediately when I read that he said.............'signs and wonders.' Interesting that he used that choice of words. I'm not making a big deal of it, but it is odd.
DeleteThe only signs and wonders I would like to see is Schonborn sprouting wings and flying off to Never-Never Land.
ReplyDeleteSchonborn has not read Fr. Oko's report of Homoheresy and researched all the corruption inside the Vatican since Pascendi.
ReplyDeleteNothing short of the promotion of Truth will resurrect the Catholic Church. We need the Smoke of Satan OUT of the Vatican----that means Schonborn.
Ah y0u people make me laugh. I look forward to the comments on these pages.
ReplyDeleteLet us pray for his death as depicted in the "Third Secret" from 2000 AD as a display of these Signs and Wonders.
I wouldn't pray for Pope Francis' death, but if he did...I wouldn't care at all.
ReplyDeleteI'd just hope for a real Pope to replace him.
I am stunned by the visciousness of many of the commenters here.
ReplyDeleteAs you judge, so shall you be judged.
In fairness you might pop your anonymous head above the parapet and specifically identify the comments (you say 'many') of the commentators who have offended your sensibilities and specify why you are offended.
DeleteAs matters now stand, you have effectively tarred all commentators here with the same broad brush while absenting yourself from initiating or engaging in meaningful discussion. Peace!
Really? Is it that hard to differentiate a comment that brings clarity and good-will from utter contempt and self- righteous indignation?
DeleteYou are expecting the heirarchy to do something that Christ himself did not do while he walked the Earth.
The only thing that will turn our present situation around is when the vast majority of peoples desire holiness above all other things.
Where in your spectrum of clarity, good-will, utter contempt, and self-righteous indignation, would you rank the words:
Delete"Ye offspring of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things?"
Well at least there is one person open enough to the Holy Spirit to "notice" the closed minded and spirited hatred here.
DeleteRose
Must be some kind of government induced womanunerlogic that we're supposed to grovel to.
DeleteI'm just expecting the hierarchy to do its job.
DeleteThe situation in Ferguson, Missouri is being blown out of proportion by outside agitators and race baiting activists. Of you are in Europe or another part of the world, don't be so quick to believe the anti American propaganda being put out by leftist media outlets. Michael Brown attempted to size a police officers gun and he was justifiably shot for doing so. Would this have happened any other way in another part of the world? I think you would have had the exact same results in that situation regardless of where it would have occurred.
ReplyDeleteOh, dear. More signs? I'm in a state of wonder trying to cope with the ones we've had already.
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous at 7:52 pm
ReplyDeleteDon't be so naïve. Pope Francis may be the pope of the moment, but he is a very bad Pope. Some people might even label him as evil. I have read a lot about him, and if even some of his own bishops and Cardinals are sorry he is Pope, you know you have a problem!
He is the complete opposite of what a Pope should be. He should stand for Catholic Faith, Tradition, Disipline and honor, and he stands for none of this. He has no respect for any of it.
It is a violation of valid judgement to witness the destruction of the Catholic Faith and the Papacy by this man and his gang of supporters, and say nothing simply because he is the Pope of the moment.
What has been said against Pope Francis here, and in other blogs and public gatherings....is totally honest and legit. We don't spew out hate for the man , but rather strong objections to him and his direction based on facts.
Wish this site had an 'up arrow'....I would have pushed it 100 times for this comment.
DeleteTime to figure something out I reckon.
Delete"We don't spew out hate for the man"
DeleteTalk about redefining for convenience sake.....it's certainly quacking like hatred and walking like hatred, etc. here, so in the logical mind that is also motivated by charity...it's hatred all right.
Rose
I got it, your truth is more important than everyone else's who doesn't agree with your misconceptions.
DeleteI agree with anonymous on a certain point. I have seen some posts that are downright uncharitable. Sorry, but that's just not Catholic. You can question and discern what he is saying and even make a judgment call on the truth or falsehood of it without being uncharitable. I am disturbed and very worried about some of his 'theology' so to speak, but I'm not going to 'wish he were dead' like I've seen some posters express. Some posters indeed 'spew out hate for the man', not only on this site but others I have seen, but you can discuss and question without wishing him harm and without being condescending.
DeleteWe as Catholics are not supposed to blindly follow Bishops, Cardinals or even the Pope if they are leading us off the cliff. We have an obligation to discern, but we also have an obligation to discern and sometimes confront charitably. We have an obligation to ask for clarity, so that there are not misunderstandings, if things are unclear, but always with charity. (BTW, I see no clarity so far from the Vatican) Some I've seen are good about this and some are clearly uncharitable.
I've heard the argument that we must follow EVERYTHING coming from the Pope no matter which Pope as he is INFALLIBLE, but this is clearly misunderstood by a lot of Catholics. He is only infallible when he speaks 'from the Chair', and then if it goes against previous Catholic Doctrine or if a new 'Catholic Dogma' is declared that directly contradicts previous Dogma, it is NOT INFALLIBLE, and in fact it then becomes a 'FALSEHOOD.' We as the Catholic Lay are required to pretty much KNOW our faith so as not to be led astray by anyone inside or outside of the Church and that includes the Pope.
Pray for Pope Francis, he needs our prayers, even as we watch him with a discerning eye. Criticism does not have to be uncharitable, but I have seen it turn into that.
We don't know who's writing the anonymous comments from either side.
DeleteThose commenting wishing he were dead are like caricatures of the "evil Traditionalist".
Name one where he was misquoted. He is a habitual enemy of Catholic teaching.
ReplyDeleteComments from Uber-Catholics those who can judge any and all while crossing the street to avoid the beggar, repent, indeed.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of insight here is stupefying.
DeleteThe amount of venom from UnterKatholiks who attract attention to themselves when they give charity in a paltry amount in an ostentatious act, in the hand of someone they otherwise hold in contempt, but make anonymous, snotty and effeminate comments on Catholic blogs, indeed.
Deletewould have pushed the 'up arrow' 200 times for THIS comment!
DeleteJust to clarify....I'm referring to Tancred's at 6:49...excellent piece of wordsmithing and reasoning.
DeleteShame on all of you self anointed so called "Christians".
ReplyDeleteRose
The majority of Novus Ordo Catholics in the USA resemble the Church of Scientology more than they do the Roman Catholic Church of all ages. To them the pope is a god-man who is perfect in all his ways and actions. The pope can sacrifice a pig on the altar or say "St. John the Baptist bless Islam" and he'll be blindly defended by people who resemble zombies under the mind control of a cult leader. When people result to "the 95 steps to reading Francis through Benedict" then you have a problem. This is especially disturbing considering that pope Francis, to his credit, is one of the only bishops who answers "Si Si, No No", he truly is "Pope Frank", his words are never esoteric; they're very simple and easy to understand.
ReplyDeleteNeo-Catholic apologists are already writing blog posts saying Catholic divorce laws are ecclesiastical and not divine (e.g. Jimmy Akin), making sharp turns from what they preached during the John Paul II and Benedict XVI papacies. They know Francis is changing divine law on divorce and remarriage - calling good evil and evil good - they are already doing damage control. This isn't Catholicism, it's Mormonism. Catholics often laugh at Mormons for changing their morals and dogma yet the Church has done just that for the last 50 years. Divorce and remarriage is the capstone to the pyramid that has Vatican II as its cornerstone. Novus Ordo [seclorum]
Nazi Germany: Hitler is Germany, Germany is Hitler!
Modern US Catholics: Francis is the Church, the Church is Francis!
Unfortunately, I've seen this too. There are some 'Catholics' who really don't know the true faith. Maybe of no fault of their own.......entirely anyway. After all, how well were we as Catholics actually 'catechized' after Vat ll from the Bishops? ..............answer: WE WERE NOT. It has been a very long time that Catholic Hierarchy did their job in catechizing the flock in the true faith. We are the ones who have to study and learn our true faith ON OUR OWN. They have failed us MISERABLY and is becoming glaringly obvious in some corners.
DeleteAnd to add to this, this fact has even been openly admitted and publicly so by a lot of the prominent Bishops themselves. They seem to be floundering around now wondering what to do about this. Lots of 'hand wringing' going on from what I've read......how to get the true faith out to the flock.
DeleteFrancis is an antipope. Pope Emeritus Benedict is likely still THE pope. And if the prophecy of Fatima plays out, Benedict is the pope in white who will be killed. (As was JP1---read the forensic report--it's a no brainier.).
ReplyDeleteThe Vatican is a hotbed of Latin Mass hating sodomites, commie's and freemasons. The only safe place to be is an SSPX or CMRI church. Maybe even a Vatican2 rejecting sedevacantist chapel. The traditional Latin Mass is a powerful kryptonite to papa frank and his minions' designs for the Church. I am a convert and am so glad I came in to the Church before Frank got his new job. No way in hell would I ever have converted under such a man. Seattle kim
Unknown, SSPX is in schism. I am glad our Pope excommunicated this group.
Deletefelix....what planet are you on?
Deletehttp://www.ewtn.com/vnews/getstory.asp?number=93305
I guess I shouldn't speak for everyone here, but I of course thought the same thing at the beginning of his papacy, Dave. The entire Catholic media had the same 'mantra'.......'it's the media's fault.' That reasoning can only go so far however. With as many times as the Pope has been 'interviewed' and with as many different reporters including traditional Catholic reporters you cannot hold onto that forever. I also thought it was lack of accurate translation. That you can only hold onto for so long as well. Then there is the almost complete lack of Fr. Lombardi 'correcting' things. I wanted to write to him and say.....'What's the silence all about?'......'You need to jump in here, and explain what he meant.' But of course, we heard NOTHING. The silence was DEAFENING. Now I do notice that most of the Catholic media as of late, just leave out his controversial statements all together. They are ignoring most of it and only reporting on his 'safe' statements, just like the secular media does all the time. It's becoming glaringly obvious. Those who cannot see this are either blind or in complete denial. Although the real Pope Francis is still in the process of unfolding, and we have to keep an open mind, some of what's already been revealed is disturbing at best.
ReplyDeleteI am shocked to read the visceral dislike you all have for Pope Francis. Shame on all of you who attack my Pope Francis. By attacking the representative of Christ Jesus, you have proved that you all belong to the evil one -- Satan.
ReplyDeleteIf you say so.
Deletewhat's wrong with Pope Francis? What has he done that's so wrong? He seems to love everyone, as Jesus did.
ReplyDeleteuuuuhhhh, yeah...not so much....
Deletehttp://thatthebonesyouhavecrushedmaythrill.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-pope-francis-little-book-of-insults.html
Francis persistent jabs at faithful Catholics don't strike me as particularly loving at all.
DeleteCan't wait to see the magic show when Francis resurrects himself; "Signs and Wonders" indeed. Let the show begin. And, yes, Virginia, bits of truth will be sprinkled in the cauldron of the synod just to keep us in the game. It's commonly referred to in psych jargon as "selective truths". Know the facts. Pray the Rosary daily.
DeleteUntil Pope Francis has truly done or requested something un-Biblical and un-Christlike I think you all need to stop with the acerbic character assassination and vitriolic comments. It's like you actually want him to be the anti-Christ just to prove your theories correct!
ReplyDeleteI am now thinking of Jesus coming to his own and his own 'receiving him not' as being quite poignant. Pope Francis has been nothing but Christ-like so far, he has shown love, tolerance, courage (think of his challenge to the Mafia!) and humility and remains the elected head of Christ's Church and as such deserves our respect.
I can't sign myself as anything other than anon as I don't have any of the accounts listed :( Jo
I agree with you completely. The people who make these terrible comments against him are vicious.
DeleteIf you're going to accuse people of being vicious, I think you should do more than make baseless assertions. For example, how are these statements slander? Do you know what slander means?
DeletePray for peace and unity and hope for Jesus to come again to be able to have us love one another as God so desires as we ought to love ourselves holy and perfect and sacrifically through serving each other and unconditionally.
ReplyDelete
