Bishop of Trier, Stephan Ackermann views offers to "cure" homosexuality critically. For such initiatives, there is no official Church backing, Ackermann said on Wednesday evening in Saarbrücken.
Recently, the newspaper "Die Zeit" had reported among other about physicians that advertise in order to change sexual orientation, and apply it strictly in some Christian circles as an "insider tip". Ackermann addressed himself to the Lesbian and Gay Association (LSVD) a publicly organized discussion in Saar, attended by around 100 people who took part. The two-hour meeting was the first of its kind in Germany. On a smaller scale similar discussions have taken place with representatives of gays and lesbians, for example, in the diocese of Essen and Germany ahead of the visit of Pope Benedict XVI. which took place in 2011 in the Archdiocese of Berlin.
Contested control in Employment Law for Church
The meeting in Saarbrücken addressed questions about the Church's handling of sexuality and the Church employment. A topic was the so-called loyalty obligations. Thus, employees in the ecclesiastical ministry, who live in a gay marriage and wish to register the partnership law, must expect a dismissal. The LSVD Saar called Ackermann for a "Saarbrücken appeal" to publicly state that "in his diocese, employees of the Catholic Church need no longer worry if they enter into a registered partnership about a termination of their employment." This should apply at least those "not identifying any professions," [If they're not officially Catholic for purposes of German law and State tax] such as for doctors and nurses in Catholic hospitals.
Ackermann called for understanding that the loyalty obligations for the Church as an institution are important. At the same time he acknowledged in some areas there is a "tension", "which is not good." Currently, the bishops were in-depth discussions on how the loyalty duties were to be conceived in the future. The conversation in Saarbrücken hailed the Bishop of Trier as "honest". He wanted to be a "listening presence" and to contribute to mutual understanding on controversial issues. The organizers stressed that it would serve to build bridges and to engage in conversation with each other. In that way, the way to dialogue [Destruction of Catholic doctrine and practice, to say nothing of lay confusion.] is still open. (kna 7/17/2014 mg)

Now, I've seen it all. What a revolting picture! Is porn next?
This is the end. Let us pray and persevere in penance.
That is not the Vatican website, you nitwits!!!!! There is no English on it what so ever! Get your facts straight eponymous flower!
Diabolical. The Smoke of Satan is now a great inferno. And the Vatican website has various language versions, including English. This is Vatican Radio.
Lynda, I am not convinced. Where is the English version on this website? I looked and could not find it!
Yes is the official site. The content differs in the different language versions.
There is an English version, a Spanish, French, etc.
That is in the Deutsch version.
You can check this fact here, clicking in the Deutsch version:
http://www.radiovaticana.va
Yes it is. Is the German speaking section. Unfortunately.
Come on back, Anonymous so you can tell us again why it is Tancred and not you who is the nitwit. Idiot.
Hopefully, eponymous won't censor me again. What page on vatican radio does this show? I still cannot find it!
It is the Vatican Website. Just click in the upper right corner on "Andere Sprachen" and you can choose the version you want.
.
I guess there is no English version of this article since Ackermann is a German bishop.
But Ackermann is in "full communion," right?
Should read: It is the Radio Vatican website.
I didn't censor you before.
O.K., it must have been my imagination. I still cannot find the webpage on Vatican radio's website, where it is in English. Can you help me?
Here is the link to the Vstican Radio German language website:

Thank you for the link. Rorate-Caeli is also reporting this as coming from the Vatican radio website. And, Michael Voris still believes that Francis is being mis-quoted by the media! What will it take to wake people up?
Well he is technically right there is no "cure" to homosexuality.
The Church has taught consistently on the subject that people with strong homosexual attraction are called to the "celibate life" NOT to marry a woman or to become priests or religious.
So yeah unlike evangelicals, Catholics should not believe in "curing" homosexuality like it was a decease.
DISGUSTING AND APPALING!!!
But who am I to judge, eh!
I believe we have to be very careful here when we say that some people may have "a strong homosexual attraction". It would be like saying some people have a strong dog-torturing attraction. People who have this disordered interest in someone of their own sex are flirting with the mortal sin of sodomy and, yes, can be cured...in the Confessional.
While a good confessor could guide a penitent with this sin away from the priesthood I would find it very strange if he did not try to help him overcome this unnatural vice and, in time, live a normal life by entering into marriage.
And you are right: homosexuality is not a disease. It is a grievous mortal sin.
It's on the bottom of the page.
Yes I agree on the confession front. However you "know" or at least must know what they mean when they mean cure.
They imply that you can be made to be attracted to women rather than men or the other way around.
By your statement on a "normal life" you are implying that living a celibate life a lay person is not normal.
As far as flirting with mortal sin we all do that, the minute we walk out of the house or get in to our computers. The homosexual act is the sin one has to be clear on that.
"Vatican Website Proudly Waves the Rainbow Colors" ? It's a photo accompanying a story. It is hardly an endorsement of homosexuality or "proudly" waving rainbow colors. Get some perspective. Admitted, it's not the best choice of photos but there's no need to blow it out of proportion. What is the purpose of this particular blog post? Are you trying to turn people against the Vatican? It was on the German language page. People in America tend to be very legalistic and take offense so easily. They look for scandal. I suspect that German Catholics see it for what it is, a photo related to the topic of the article.
Another reason why so many of us hate Pope Francis!
No Catholic "hates" anybody but they sure hate what Francis is doing. Big difference.
1. Go to http://www.radiovaticana.va
2. Find Deutsch amd click on it
3. On top menu find Kategorien and from that find Kirche and click.
4. On the list of articles find: "D: Homosexualität muss nicht „geheilt" werden"; click on it.
5. You're there.
Tancred translation is accurate. Thanks Tancred.
It's an honor, thanks for spelling it out.
There are some other bloggers of inferior intelligence and graceless malevolence who say this blog hates the Holy Father. That's a lie.
This photo eulogizing homosexuality merely reinforces the suspicion of many catholics that the vatican
is now very much under the control of sodomites and heretics.
There is no church discipline being exercised in the area of public sins against the sixth commandment.
Asmodeus stands boldly and unafraid in St Peters Square.
That's just hysterical credulity. It's clearly an endorsement of sodomy. I suggest you get a grip.
And the German Bishops have been promoting sodomy for years, and those who don't are systematically destroyed.
Aged Parent speaks the truth. Unfortunately, truth is rarely heard outside or inside the Church these days.
I thought "this HAS to be parody", when I read the text of the Vortex piece! How can he speak such arrant nonsense with a straight face? How can he think people are so stupid? I'm flabbergasted. Blessed Michael defend us in battle . .
No, we can sin in respect of sexual perversion such as homosexual relations - in thought, word, deed or failure to act. One can commit mortal sins in respect of homosexual relations (which are an intrinsic evil) in many ways other than sodomitical acts. For instance, for someone to teach those he has responsibility for that homosexual relations are not evil and to engage in (mentally or physically) is not sinful, is a most heinous sin - a mortal sin.
The image is evil - and ought not to be so prominent on this article. We need only see it to verify that it has been placed in a public place by the agents of the Holy See whose mission is to proclaim the Faith.
This is the first time I've read this blog and I can see by your remarks Tancred that you admire yourself greatly. I won't waste anymore time here. Narcissism obscures objectivity.
Your stated opinion of Tancred is not a good reason to not read the articles, as most of them are not written by him, simply posted.
Lynda, the articles are available elsewhere. I've done a bit of research on Tancred. Cyril Koob has a reputation for being half a bubble off plumb. I see now why so many have blocked him from their pages.
The disappointments never end these days...
:(
Unbelievable that an image to two gay men kissing is put on a Vatican website- there is NO need. The story would have been enough.
Disgusted and disappointed- again.

comes under the picture is worth a thousand words category
Your behaviour is reprehensible. Totally uncalled for. It's clear you are trying to smear a person's reputation and that is your purpose for comIng to the site. Stop.
Alfonsus: Instead of indulging in detraction and calumny with ad hominem attacks why not put forward your counter arguments in a rational manner if you have any.
I think they have removed the offensive picture and put up one of the Bishop in front of a crucifix. Perhaps they have taken notice of this blog which demonstrates its value?
Alfonsus, are you by any chance a meat whistle yourself? Your behavior defies any other explanation.
Nice rainbow Alfonsus, at least we know where you're coming from.
I pray often for Pope Francis to have to resign. It's wrong to pray for something worse!
Classic case of projection.
Almost unbelievable. These things do not happen by accident, so what are we to make of the intentions of those who consciously placed the offending picture? The inference is clear, the Vatican wishes to give tacit approval to homosexuality. Next on the list will be approval of abortion. Make no mistake, the Vatican establishment and pope Francis are fully on board the New World Oder express train. Indeed they bought premier first class seats.
Excuse me !! How dare you! You are now bearing false witness-and in this case probably a serious sin for you. I am amazed at how easily some people are writing such things-all these will have to be paid for! Its bad enough that that obscene picture was put on the Vatican radio site, worse still for a supposed believing Catholic to falsely accuse Christs' vicar on earth of supporting ideas that are an abomination in the site of God.When I read stuff like this I am confirmed in my belief that sites like this are an enemy of the soul-to be avoided at all costs.
Don't you think the way that the flamers typically fly off the handle when they "accidentally" get caught showing their hand is getting old?
