Cardinal Kasper Advocates More Apologies and Pretended Unity for 500th Anniversary of Protestant Revolt

500 years schism: Cardinal Kasper hopes 2017 "common worship and confession of guilt"

(Mainz) In 2017 the Lutherans are to celebrate  Reformation 500 years of schism initiated in 1517.  [If any are left.] The former president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity , Cardinal Walter Kasper, is encouraging  that the Lutheran churches and the Catholic Church "should celebrate common worship" in 2017.  In this "worship" both sides should put aside their doctrinal commitments. Cardinal Kasper said on Friday in Münster: "In this we should take a confession of guilt that we have not met the requirement of unity." The "two churches" should "thank the  ecumenical movement and promise" to decide to continue along those  lines.  A proposal has already been submitted by the Cardinal in the summer of 2012 as part of Ratzinger Student Circle at Castel Gandolfo. The two sides are put at the same level and suggested to share in the same "fault", without any discussion of substantive differences and questions.

Yes, let's just meld the heretical Lutheran 'church' into the Holy Catholic Church and call the creation the Catholutheran Ecumenical Get along bunch Church. Kasper is just insane.

The Catholic Church in Germany seems already to have admitted its faults by espousing much of Protestantism.

Wait... the "two churches"??? Last Ichecked, our Lord instituted ONE HOLY CATHOLIC church. This eccuminism is a failure, has brought no unity and only softened the faith of Catholics worldwide. Pathetic

According to the church liberals, because of "invincible ignorance" the sin of heresy cannot be imputed to modern-day Lutherans. Also, many Lutherans allegedly do not know that the Catholic Church IS the sole church of Christ outside of which there is no salvation. Hence, the church liberals claim that modern-day Lutherans are not guilty of the the sins of heresy and separation. Cardinal Kasper by his statements, however, does not seem to adhere to even these relaxed laws of the conciliar church. Just to make it clear to everyone exactly what Cardinal Kasper believes, he should be made to answer five questions: (1) Exactly what sins Luther and those Catholics who allegedly provided the impetus for Luther's leaving the Church are guilty of, and whether the alleged sins of the Catholic contemporaries of Luther are an excuse before God for Luther's much lated descent into heresy; (2) whether Catholics should believe that Luther was somehow absolved of the mortal sin of heresy even though he never repented of it; (3) do Catholics have any reason to expect that Luther is in any other place besides Hell and, if so, what teachings does Cardinal Kasper advance for that expectation; (4) whether contemporaries of Luther who were raised in the Catholic Church and followed Luther into heresy were guilty of heresy too and hence died in mortal sin; and (5) whether modern Lutherans who are exposed to the Catholic Church's teaching regarding salvation become heretics by refusing to abjure from the formally heretical beliefs of Lutheranism?

It sickens me to note that this clown is in charge of the extremely delicate discussions with the Eastern Orthodox. They couldn't have found worse hands to place these discussions in than Kasper's.
