Elderly Canadian Priest Suspended for Being Catholic

Edit:  It could also mean that the lavender mafia has claimed another victim, and yet, there are quite a few paid hucksters out there who give a pass to the inexcusable statements and actions of Old Liberal Bishops and Priests. Pay close attention to the people who line up in favor of suspending this loyal son of the Church, or ignore, this news story. They know who they are, and so should you.

BATHURST, New Brunswick, September 22, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Catholic Diocese of Bathurst, New Brunswick has removed an elderly priest from active ministry after he caused a storm of controversy by denouncing homosexuality, cohabitation, and abortion in an August homily.

85-year-old Fr. Donat Gionet had retired to his home town of Caraquet in June to serve palliative care patients, and now laments that in his declining years he is being forced to celebrate Mass “in secret.”

Fr. Wesley Wade, the diocese’s vicar general, told Radio-Canada that Fr. Gionet’s comments were consistent with Church teaching, but lacked the proper “pastoral” sensitivity.

  1. Father Wade:

The time for practicing "pastoral sensitivity" is long, long past. With the world (and the Church) crashing down over our heads we had better stop worrying about the hurt feelings of those who engage in buggery.

Your remarks are both ludicrous and insulting.

  2. It is ALWAYS a mistake to have the mayor on the parish council. But if he is a public sinner, it is a scandal. God bless Fr Gionet for speaking against sin.

  3. That's us Catholic Canadians, alright. More Canadian than Catholic. I nearly lost it at a lecture given by a prominent hierarch who, in response to a family-man's comment about the mixed messages given by pseudo-Catholics and the effects of dissent by public officials on young people, deemed as un-Canadian the thought of reprimand or excommunication for public acts of defiance by dissenting politicians. Apparently, Canadian cultural sensitivities trump that archbishop's responsibility to protect his flock.

Pastoral sensitivity? Let's call it for what it is - mollycoddling. The gay lobby could care less about pastoral sensitivity. No amount of soft talk is going to mollify a mob which insists on bullying into submission anyone who opposes their demands for approval of perverted sex and pseudo-marriage. We need straight talk. Pun intended.

  4. The people who think the concessions are owed are actually more dangerous than the people who are being honored with and demanding them.
