Father Z. Comments on the death of the rebellious Fr. James Kavanaugh who died recently. Before he died, Father James asked for Apostolic Pardon. This is all the more important, because Father James was a famous dissident priest who was opposed to clerical celibacy and thought the Church had to change to meet the times and not the other way around.

this is so interesting.. rihanna the pop singer got rebel flower tattoed on her neck, maybe a double meaning there
Father James was not a rebel. He was fed up, as are many priests, with the redundant understanding of the the lines between venial and mortal sin and the scrupulosity that stunted so many young men and women before Vatican II. Fr James was a good man.
I wish more priests followed his example by asking for pardons or at least having the integrity to leave the Church when they don't agree with Her doctrines rather than make fools of themselves as so many do. It's sheer hypocrisy.
He most certainly was a rebel. He didn't agree with the "outdated" Catholic Church on a number of issues as he embraced the spirit of the age and defended it as best he could; so no, it's not merely the distinction between venial and mortal sin as you insist...
How often has that bad argument been flaunted by ecclesiastical revolutionaries to confuse and befuddle people about the world and the Church?
fr kavanaugh was nothing more than communistand a JUDAS PRIEST AND LOOK WHAT JUDAS DID. THERE IS NO SALAVATION OUTSIDE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.
OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST ESTABLISH THE ONLY TRUE CHURCH, FAITH, SALAVATION IN THE WORLD
SALVE MARIAE
Celibacy AND a married priesthood are from apostolic times in the Catholic Church. The restriction to only a celibate priesthood came to the Church after 1200 years into her history.
The Maronite Rite and other Eastern Catholic Rites have both traditions of celibate and also married priests.
No point in demonising Father Kavanagh.
Lack of charity towards our priests is a typical mad Irish Catholic evil trait of the pharisees within the New Covenant of the Church. Examine thyself before attacking Father Kavanagh.
