Unfortunately, despite the praise or begrudging admission that there are good "fruits" with Medjugorje, there is actually a pre-existing shrine to which these mysteries of repentance and "good" fruits are attributable, but that's not discussed here. What is clear is that the Cardinal is not exactly a welcome visitor in town.

The bishop of the local Mostar-Duvno diocese has issued a statement expressing concern about statements issued by Cardinal Christoph Schönborn during a visit to Medjugorje last week and emphasizing that the cardinal’s visit “does not imply any recognition of the authenticity of the ‘apparitions’ related to Medjugorje.”
Bishop Ratko Peric-- who has repeatedly warned against the dangers of “the Medjugorje phenomenon” and strongly discouraged confidence in the alleged apparitions—complained that the visit by Cardinal Schönborn had caused new pastoral problems for his diocese. Citing a list of conflicts and irregularities arising from the activities of the alleged seers and their supporters, Bishop Peric voiced “regret” that the Austrian cardinal’s appearance had lent new credibility to their claims.

Bishop Peric might be painfully aware of this series of scandalous events as well. He might as well be having a secular film personality to comment on Medjugorje in his Diocese.

It is really ashame that even when the Bishop goes to Medjugorje to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation that he has to say something negative about what good is happening there. Rather than look at the good, there are so many who spend useless energy in denying what is happening. Get a life and move on. . .no one is forcing you to believe anything. . .you don't have to believe what happened at Fatima either. I guess PJII must also have been wrong with what he had to say about Medjugore.
The rank heresy and infantile fortune cookie dribble coming from the "seers" is enought to close this down.
The site has religious significance apart from the modernist phenomenon of the alleged apparitions; so we can look elsewhere.
Interestingly enough, there are quite a few diabolical absurdities about Medjugorje, like the Blessed Mother praying to herself. At an authentic apparition like Lourdes, Our Lady remained silent while Bernadette prayed the Hail Marys. And Bernadette didn't change her story after the fact like the Medjugorje "seers" did.
The people who should get a life are those who are promoting this absurd modernist tourist attraction.
Anyhow, the local ordinary doesn't like this non-sense either, and we're glad that he said something. Cardinal Schoenborn should be retired to a Monastery.
Medjugorje was debunked, totally, within the first several months by such Catholic scholars as the late Hamish Fraser, Frere Michel, the late Brother Francis, MICM and writer the late Michael Davies.
That this absurd soap opera is still playing on is downright weird.
Let's put it to bed once and for all: Our Lady does not speak heresy. Can we all agree on that minor little point? So when the Medjugorje oracle states that ALL religions are pleasing to God we can be absolutely, with complete certainty, know that this is a deception - and probably a diabolic one at that.
Rome's shilly-shallying over this idiocy is part of the problem. The proper canonical authority, the local Bishop, after due investigation found it to be nonsense and that should have been the end of it. But John Paul II's ambiguous remarks, and the machinations of clowns like Schonborn, have muddied the waters considerably.
Supposedly this circus is going to continue for awhile longer, now that the "seers" have been invited to Rome to spill the "secrets".
This is really too much.
